Work Text:
Reki was upset that his hair was back to brown. He always thought it was boring and wasn’t the pretty brown the rest of his family had. By the time he figured out that ‘Oh no! This isn’t the right stuff!’ The shops had closed and he needed to make dinner so Langa didn’t starve to death or burn down the whole apartment.
“Go sit, I'll just re-dye my hair tomorrow when I get back from my classes.” He put the chicken on the cast iron pan and began looking for the steaming basket to steam broccoli.
“I really like it like that though.”
“I know you whiny baby, you literally said it was hot like this,” he face went red, and Langa just gave a smug smirk. “But it looks wrong since I’ve been dyeing it for years now. Now, please tell me you started the rice.”
“Uhh, I did. Most definitely did.”
“You finished your essay while I was sorting out my hair, didn’t you?”
“Why do you know me so well?”
“Because we’re roommates dumbass!” A faint ‘omgggg and they were roommaaatesssss’ and then laughter.
…
“You need to mix it like this,” he mixed the bowl of red dye around fast. “It’s all mixed now. We can dye it in the living room if you want. We’ll just have to put a towel down so we don’t stain the couch or floor red.”
“You just want to watch Legally Blonde, don’t you?”
“Hell yea! Emit is hot as hell.” Langa was rather tense as he walked with the dye stuff to the living room. Reki sat from the bottom of the couch ledge. Langa sat the towel around his shoulders. Langa seemed to roll his eyes at the screen when Reki chose Legally Blonde. Reki realized this and thought for a moment.
‘Wait, is Langa jealous? Oh my gods, this is actually golden!’
Reki chuckled lightly at the thought. Langa, jealous? That sounds actually hilarious! They sat with the movie playing in the background, Langa gently gliding the application brush through Reki’s brown hair. Soon Emit came on to the screen and Reki wanted to test his theory.
“Emit can have me any day, god damn. Why is that man so fine? You know what I mean Langa?”
“I don’t get what you see in him, he’s ugly. Also what the hell do you need him for? You have me ya know!” Langa pouted as he finished the last section up. Reki just laughed, oh my gods he actually was jealous!
“Well while we wait for the dye to seep, I’m gonna start dinner so we can eat.” He went over to the kitchen and put beef into a pan. He began humming a song he liked and started to cut up the ingredients. Langa sat at the table and took a photo unbeknownst to Reki.
‘What is this boy doing to me?’
…
“Alrighty! My hair should be back to normal tomor-“ he stared down at a sleeping Langa curled up on the couch and smiled. He picked the older boy up and walked to their room and put him down on their shared bed. He gave him a kiss on his forehead and left to go do his college work.
