Summary
He didn't remember how he learned to read. As far as he knew, no one ever taught him. The only things in his room with letters before he showed The Doctor his talent were charts left there on accident, with confusing words he didn't understand like hypotonic or lethargic or docile. Denji asked but the explanations, definitions, were just as strange and nonsensical.
But- because Denji loved to read so much, he eagerly picked up the piece of paper that had fallen into his room when The Doctor was leaving. There was tape on it, maybe it had been on his door? It took him the rest of the day to read what was written there (geez, Doc had seriously terrible handwriting). It was a bunch of stuff Denji couldn't understand, words that made no sense, and one line that caught his attention:
"New posting- Hayakawa Aki"
Or: Denji gets a friend to lighten his dull existence.
