Chapter Text
1
When Charles arrived at work on Valentine’s Day because of course Ferrari had to make their car launch day then, he wasn’t expecting a bouquet of flowers on the front desk of Maranello of Ferrari waiting for him. It had blue irises and sky blue hydrangeas that reminded him of an icey-blue eye color, with ruby-colored peonies and Ferrari-red tulips, his favorite flower. It was beautifully wrapped in a nude-colored ribbon with a singular note on it that read:
“Cannot wait for this season! I hope you love the flowers. I saw in an interview those were your favorites! Also, Happy Valentine’s!
Max <3”
Charles’ jaw dropped when he read the note. He loved flowers so much, specifically tulips and he didn’t know how Max knew that when he knew he never mentioned it in any interview. He decided to text Max a quick thank you on WhatsApp. He barely ever texted Max, just a few times before asking about regulations for the new cars on the grid.
Max Verstappen
Charles: Thank you so much for the flowers! They are so pretty. Which interview was it?
Max: Haha, I don’t remember. It was just some random one I found late at night doing some digging ;)
Charles did not know how to feel about that. He figured he was just being polite and nice, especially with the flowers and all. The texts were surely just a fun mood Max had been in to celebrate, perhaps, the beginning of the new season.
Charles: Lol
Max: Happy Valentine’s Day again!
Charles: I feel bad, I didn’t get you anything!
Max: No worries, now go have some fun at Maranello! I’ll be watching the launch :)
Wow, Charles thought, Max is being really nice!
Charles: Thanks! Talk to you later
And, if Max wishes he could text back a flirty winky face, or a blue heart (he secretly wants to send the red for Ferrari), no one has to know. Definitely not. Although, he ponders about it hard. Charles really was clueless. This was going to be hard.
Max: :) <3

Oh god, Max thought to himself. This guy really changed from WhatsApp to iMessage just to send him this. A cow memoji with his brain going WOW and his mouth wide open. Max giggled at a screen, looking like a schoolgirl with a bad crush. He hoped no one could see into his office.
Yeah, Max was ready for the challenge. Charles was a dork, but at least he was a cute one.
