Summary
“I didn’t think I’d ever see you again,” Max said honestly, his voice losing the teasing tone it had a moment ago “I’m glad that wasn’t true.”
“Why?” Charles asked, scoffing slightly at the notion “So you can keep on making fun of me?”
Max stopped for a few moments, before shaking his head slightly, “No.”
Charles just stared at him, unsure of what to say to that, before he rolled his eyes and settled on, “Just because I’m a son of Aphrodite, doesn’t mean I can’t still beat you.”
“Yeah?” Max chuckled, “You think you can bring down a son of Ares?”

Max rolls his eyes, then stands up from the desk to go and sit back in his chair.
“You don’t always have to be so responsible, you know.”
“I’m fifteen years older than you.”
“You’re twelve years older than me, don’t round up. You should round down.”
“Ten years older than you, then,” Charles says stiffly. “And one of us has to be responsible.”
“That’s not what you said last time, when you were crying on my cock.”
Charles clenches his jaw. “Yes, well. I was pregnant. Emotional. It can’t happen anymore."
He’s had four months of maternity leave to think about it, and he knows he’s making the right decision. No matter how good Max makes him feel, or how much fun he’d had in the year before falling pregnant and the nine months during, it can’t happen anymore. Max is too young for him. He’s his boss. “I have a child now.”

Charles comes back from maternity leave, determined to put a stop to his affair with his boss. He's never had much self-control when it comes to Max, though.

Summary
Living in a world where curses — and blessings — can be thrown onto a person so easily is not Charles' favourite thing. It's inconvenient, though he stopped caring about the magic running through the air as soon as he realized that there are ways he can protect himself from it. Thin strings of red tied around his wrist, incense stashed in his carry-on, soulmates. The last solution is useless, given that he'd need to have his soulmate for that, but it is one nonetheless.
(or, five times Charles gets cursed and Max heals him, and one time the roles are reversed.)
