“Hey assholes, you’re in the way.”
Robin flips Dustin the bird and scoots closer to Steve to make room. “Geez, don’t make me take back your payment.”
Dustin halts, making Lucas run into the sofa’s edge. “Hey!”
“Sorry,” says Dustin. “Pizza and beer might be the universal currency of moving, but your sofa’s fucking heavy.”
“Lucas snorts. “Speak for yourself. Just lift with your legs and let’s get this out the door.”
Robin drops her head onto Steve’s shoulder. “Ah children. They grow up so fast.”
Steve pets Robin’s undercut. “And yet I still got them in the divorce.”
Robin gasps and places a hand over her heart. “Excuse you, I’ve got Will and Erica. My hands will be more than full.”
“Do we need to pack any dishes,” asks Max from the doorway.
“No, Nancy’s are nicer than mine, so we’re leaving them for Steve and Eddie.”
Max wrinkles her nose. “What’s wrong with Eddie’s dishes?”
Steve sighs. “He’s got a one plate, one spoon, one fork, one knife, one bowl, and forty coffee mugs lifestyle.”
Robin pokes Steve’s chest. “Man, you have no taste.”
Steve’s eyes glimmer and he wraps his arms tight around her. “I’m gonna miss you.”
“You can’t start crying. We agreed no crying until I’m in the U-Haul.” She wipes a tear off Steve’s cheek.
“Sorry. I thought I could do it.”
Robin’s vision turns blurry as tears well up. “God, I love you Steven Andrew Harrington.”
“You too, Robin Marie Buckley.”
