Back to Morepesok for a Short Break

Summary:

Ajax smiled at the letter and sighed softly. Teucer tapping him on the shoulder made him turn his attention to his little brother.

“Is that a new letter from Mister Diluc?” He asked, looking curiously at the paper.

Notes:

New letter piece and the announcement that CHAPTER THREE FOR THE SECOND BOOK HAS BEEN COMPLETED! That means you'll most likely be seeing it tonight. There's also another book that's really close to having the third chapter completed for it as well. You may see that one tonight, too.

I'm going to get some work for the fourth chapter of the second book done before I post the first three chapters. That way I can get a start on it and finish it up later. I'll also do that for the other book.

I hope you enjoy this letter piece.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Two and half months later, Diluc gets another letter. This one has a little picture drawn on the corner of the envelope. He realized that it was a drawing only a child could have made. ‘Teucer.’ Diluc thought and chuckled. He opened the letter to find two pieces of paper inside, instead of just the usual letter.

~

Diluc,

I got the chance to go back to Morepesok for a three week break. Did you like the picture Teucer drew for you on the envelope? He wouldn’t leave me alone until I let him do that. He wanted it to be a gift to you. He and the other kids also drew you some pictures on that other piece of paper. They really miss you, Diluc. Maybe one day, you can come by and visit them. Or maybe I can bring them back to visit you in Mondstadt again. They said they loved it there. I’m sure they’d love to visit again.

While I’m here, I figure I’ll make sure to get some proper rest. You make sure to get some rest, too. You should really consider taking a break for a week or something. Liyue’s right next to Mondstadt, right? Go and visit.

Of course, I know you well enough to know you won’t actually do that, even if I wish you would. Either way, I hope you’re taking care of yourself. Be careful and try not to get too injured during your monster hunting.

I really miss you, firefly.

Love,

Ajax

Sure enough, when Diluc looked at the other piece of paper, it was indeed three different drawings, each signed by the kids. Teucer’s drawing was the typical stick figure style drawing of himself, Diluc, and his other brother and sister. Tonia’s drawing featured a field of dandelions, which was quite nice. And Anthon’s drawing was of Diluc’s claymore, which seemed to interest the boy quite a bit when he first saw it.

Diluc set the new letter in the box with the old ones and took the picture, hanging it up on the wall over his desk so he could look at it while he did his work. Then, he started on writing a response. If Ajax was going to be in Morepesok for three weeks, that should be enough time for him to receive a response from Diluc.

~

Ajax,

Tell your siblings that I loved the pictures they drew for me. That was very sweet of them. And let them know that they’re welcome back at the winery whenever they’d like to visit. I enjoyed their company the last time they were here. The winery seems very quiet without them.

You’re right in guessing that I won’t be taking any week long vacations, but I’ll do my best to get some extra rest this week. Maybe I’ll scale back a little bit on my late night patrols around Mondstadt. There seem to be less monsters as of late. I’ll try to take advantage of the peace while it lasts.

Please enjoy your time in Morepesok, Ajax. I’m glad you get to see your siblings again. I look forward to any other letters from you in the future.

Love,

Diluc

Ajax smiled at the letter and sighed softly. Teucer tapping him on the shoulder made him turn his attention to his little brother.

“Is that a new letter from Mister Diluc?” He asked, looking curiously at the paper.

“Yep. He said he loved the drawing you, Tonia, and Anthon sent him. And he said that if you ever get the chance to, you’re welcome to come stay at the winery with him again.” Ajax answered, smiling. The big grin that appeared on Teucer’s face was adorable.

“Mister Diluc is awesome! I’m gonna go tell Tonia and Anthon!” Teucer was running out of the room not a second later, excitement practically oozing from him. Ajax chuckled and shook his head. He loved seeing his siblings that happy.

Now that it was quiet again, Ajax turned and got to work on his next letter.

~

Diluc,

Teucer, Tonia, and Anthon were so happy to hear that you loved their drawing. And they’re happy that they can come stay in the winery again if given the chance. You should have seen the big smile on Teucer’s face. It was really cute.

I’m glad you’re able to get a little more rest. I hope the monster situation in Mondstadt stays down. I’d hate for you to overwork yourself or get too injured. I know I say it a lot, but stay safe. If you end up on bedrest again, I’m not going to be happy about it.

Tonia is learning to bake and asked me to ask you to send some Mondstadt dessert recipes. Particularly those linzer cookies you made for us the last time we were there. She said they were too good not to learn how to make.

I’ll keep you updated on my whereabouts in the future. I don’t currently know if I’ll be going anywhere after my break in Morepesok, but I hope not, honestly. Stay safe and make sure to stay well rested, firefly.

Love,

Ajax

~

Diluc chuckled at the letter. He was glad that Tonia had liked the linzer cookies. He quickly found the recipe Adelinde had for them and copied it down to send with his next letter.

~

Ajax,

As requested, Adelinde’s linzer cookie recipe is with this letter. I hope Tonia has fun making them. Maybe she could try using some local Snezhnayan ingredients. Let me know how they turn out. And tell Tonia that if she would like there are some other recipes I can send that are also particularly good and fun to make. Adelinde has been teaching me how to make some of them.

Speaking of recipes, I’ve gotten more successful results from the recipes you sent me. I think I’m getting better at cooking. I’ve even added my own personal twist to my favorite dish. I’ll have to make it for you sometime when you get to visit next.

Stay safe on any of your travels in the future, Ajax. And be sure to let me know where you’re going. Especially let me know if it's Monstadt. I’d love to see you again.

Love,

Diluc

Notes:

I hope you enjoyed this letter piece! And I hope everyone's excited for the second book to be coming out.
