Summary
Hawks is surprised by the nature of the mission his handler has given him; pass himself off as an apostate to hero society and infiltrate the League of Villains. He hesitates, but it isn’t as if he has any right to refuse, so he makes contact with one of them in the hopes of meeting with the mastermind. He is perplexed by the ease with which the criminal named Dabi accepts, but on one condition; the hero has to obey his every whim, no questions asked.
In actuality, the villain is simply thrilled to torment Hawks as much as he wants and to make him go through trials he knows the pro hero will be reluctant to complete. Trials that will make him doubt the merits of his mission, because Hawks has values he holds dear, and Dabi revels in the idea of forcing him to forfeit them. It starts off as innocent enough, but he takes great pleasure in escalating the tests with each of their meetings, playing the winged hero as a puppet to carry out his misdeeds. But Hawks is determined to see it through to the end.
