Work Text:
Yet another confession note found its way to Bebe Steven's locker.
The note fell while she was getting her books that she needed for class. It was neatly written, but the paper was all crumpled up. There was also no signature of the person who wrote it.
The message wasn't like anything Bebe hadn't received before. She was the most popular girl at school, after all.
"Do you know of anyone who could have given me this?" Bebe asked Heidi on their way to class.
"Maybe it's from one of the guys." Heidi replied.
"Thanks a lot, Heidi."
"What are you gonna do if you knew? Ask them out?"
Meanwhile, Wendy Testaburger, once again, swore that she hated Bebe Steven so much, she could make a whole list of reasons why.
It's not like Wendy had been personally victimized by Bebe. It's just that, she detests her guts, that's all. A completely just explanation for her daily rants, as witnessed by her friends Stan and Kyle.
Does the girl know about her being her number one hater? Yes. She's completely aware. Not that she cared, though. In fact she found it rather cute that someone out there was so affected by her, they made a list about her. A list!
It's no question, that the secret admirer of Bebe Stevens is not Wendy Testaburger. The only thing she's writing are hate lists, not confession notes.
She couldn't be farther from the truth.

"And did I mention that she has really bad hair?"
"Please, Wendy, let it go..." Stan was on the verge of almost tearing up. Their study session went from, well, studying, to Wendy talking shit about Bebe Stevens, and how she would never want to hang out with her because she is a shallow person who 'only cared about popularity'.
"Not until you hear that-"
"Yeah, sure, let's hear the very important thing Wendy has to say about Bebe that she totally hasn't mentioned a hundred times before like we're not trying to study for a test!" Kyle snapped.
They all went silent for a minute.
"Okay, I'll stop... so, where were we?"
"I don't know, we kinda got distracted by you."
As far as Stan and Kyle are concerned, they, too, have no clue of what Bebe could have possibly done to their friend. She really only has her petty made-up reasons to hold against her. Even though they also regularly shit on Cartman, their reasons are perfectly valid.
Except, Stan remembers a random Thursday afternoon from around two months ago. Where it all started...
["I hate her! I wish she were d-"
"Woah, woah, woah. We don't say the d-word here."
"What."
"Why do you want 'her' dead, anyway? You know, whoever 'she' is."
"Just...ever since she talked to me, I get this feeling in my stomach and my cheeks feel like they're heating up-"
"You make it sound like you caught a virus."
"Well, what could it be?"
"Look...who's this person you're talking about?"
"...It's Bebe Stevens."
"Ok...now imagine if Kyle asked her out. Right now. They're holding hands like a happily-married couple and-"
"Why would Kyle ask her out?"
"I don't know, ask him."
Well, I'd ask Kyle why he had to ask Bebe out of every girl in this school! He should also wipe that smirk off his face before I-"
"Hey, that's my bro you're talking about. Also, you've got a crush."
"Crush... what, no!" I don't have a crush on Bebe!"
"I didn't say anything..."
"Listen, Stan. I'll have you know that I hate and only hate Bebe Stevens, and nothing else, and that she can date whoever she wants!"
"Whatever you say..."
"I'm being serious! ]
To think that it all started because he implied that she had a crush on Bebe.
~
It has been a few days since Bebe found the note in her locker, and she felt like looking for her secret admirer now more than ever. More than she ever wanted to know her previous admirers. Why was it that she was interested now, when she used to not care?
Maybe, just maybe, Bebe missed something. That the answer to her questions has been right in front of her all along.
"Please make sure to double-check your papers before keeping them." It was the test paper from their latest quiz. Bebe nervously took a look at hers, only to be left confused.
This isn't mine... The name written at the top was 'Wendy Testaburger'. That's when she did a double-take. Not at the name, but because of the handwriting. She pulled out the note that she had gotten, which has transformed into a more crumpled version of itself. Mainly because she secretly never let go of the note. Whenever she thought no one was looking, she carefully studied it like it was her assignment that was 50% of her grade.
Bebe made a shocking revelation right there at 3rd period. But she had no idea how to approach...her. She thought she'd let the day pass first before thinking about her next move.
"Uh, ma'am, you gave me the wrong paper."
"Oh did I? I'm sorry, will you please return it to the right owner?"
Bebe nervously made her way to Wendy's desk, which was on the other side of the room. They exchanged the most awkward eye contact in the entire history of mankind. Both of them looked like they wanted to be swallowed beneath the ground, despite not having done anything remotely embarrassing.
~
After 3rd period was their lunch time. Everyone was peacefully eating with their respective groups when-
"Ugh, she' so-"
"Hey, no offense but...mind telling us why you hate Bebe so much?" Kyle interrupted Wendy, lest she starts ranting about Bebe.
"Do I need a reason to?" Wendy snapped back.
"It's because she's trying to hide her crush-"
"None of that now, Stan!"
"So you're saying, all those times... was because you had a stupid crush on Bebe?!" Kyle accidentally yelled the last part, making him cover his mouth instinctively.
People stopped talking. The lunch lady stopped cooking. Even Cartman has stopped eating. He was stunned, visibly trying to process what just happened.
Wendy Testaburger hates Bebe Stevens. Or does she really?
Bebe heard it all, as she was just a table away from the group.
"Woah..." Heidi murmured.
Cartman, of course, had something to say.
"Wendy has a crush on Bey-Bey!" He said in an annoying way.
"I do not!" Wendy shot back.
Of all the places Wendy wanted to be in at that moment, the cafeteria at South Park High during lunch time is the last on the list. What unfortunate luck, though, because that's where she was. What's worse is, she was busted by someone who couldn't keep their mouth shut. She slowly stood up and returned her tray at the counter. She could feel all eyes on her as she walked.
Then, she ran. She had no face to show to the whole school. She wanted to disappear.
The girl she declared as her most hated person was actually her crush. How did Bebe react? She wanted to know, but she was too busy trying to kill Kyle with looks alone.
"Hey..."
It was Bebe. She unknowingly followed her after she dramatically ran.
"Hi..." Wendy almost whispered.
"I wanted to ask you about this note. Was this you?"
Wendy eyed the small piece of paper Bebe held in her hand. Shit. I've been caught caught.
"I just want to let you know that-"
"YesthatsmeandIreallylikeyoubutyoumightfinditweirdsoIwroteyouanoteinstea-"
"You're something else, aren't you?"
"Wh-what..."
"I thought you hated me."
Wendy recalled every single thing she claimed she hated about Bebe.
"That... that was really immature of me. I'm sorry for saying all of those things about you..."
"Okay...so you didn't mean any of what you said about me, then?"
"Yeah..."
"So, if I were to tell you that I like you too..."
"...Really?"
"Yes, I think you're cute. I was too shy to tell you, though."
Wendy could quite literally feel her heart flying. Or somersaulting. All at the same time. Why did she ever try to cover up her feelings instead of facing them head-on?
"...What does that make us, then?"
Bebe took Wendy's hand. "Whatever you want us to be."
Cartman, who saw them, gracefully intercepts the lovely moment shared by the soon-to-be girlfriends. "You guys look like lesbians!"
"That's 'cause we are!" Wendy yelled at Cartman.
"Oh, really...I'm so happy for you!"
Wendy Testaburger didn't even like Bebe Stevens. Not that much, anyway. She hated her so much, she had a list of reasons. Who knew she was also the mysterious admirer who put a note in Bebe's locker a few days ago?
