"Techno, there's another letter for you," Phil said, entering Techno's house. Techno hummed.
A month after Doomsday, Techno's been getting anonymous letters with different flowers attached to them. He guesses as to who it is, but he isn't sure. Chat also started guessing, until they only shouted one name.
Techno took the letter and opened it. The paper inside is blank until at the total end there's a crown, as usual. The flowers that were attached to the letter this time were an Aloe (as usual), a blue Salvia (also as usual), a Pink Carnation, a sage, a yellow rose (as usual as well), and a dark crimson rose.
Aloe means affection but also grief, blue Salvia meaning I think of you, pink Carnation meaning I'll never forget you, Sage meaning wisdom and immortality, and lastly the dark crimson Rose means mourning.
Techno put the yellow flowers (His book said that yellow roses meant; Friendship, apology, intense emotion, undying love; extreme betrayal, a broken heart, infidelity, jealousy. He feels that most of these meanings are what the giver meant.) in a separate vase, while he puts the other flowers in a different vase. Removing the previous dying flowers, he puts the new flowers in.
He put the removed flowers in a different vase that he finished making yesterday, by the window. Chat either said it looked bad at the window, it looked good, or the vases are taking up space.
As Techno did his usual chores around his and Phil's houses, he wandered. Why does the giver always give a letter after 5 days? What or who does the giver mourn? Grief for? The friendship?
Then, as his routine went after he received those letters, he started making a design for a vase and then started making it. Chat giving helpful (most unhelpful) suggestions.
"Mate, why don't you try and catch the giver?" Phil asked. "It's better to catch To- them and question them, then doing this guessing game. Or you could make a letter, and put it where they usually put their letters and flowers."
Techno hummed again, as he worked with the clay. Phil just sighed, knowing that Techno doesn't want to face the truth, while it was obvious. Chat screamed "Denialblade"
That night, Techno made a letter and put it where the giver put his letter.
—
"Techno, there's a letter for you, but no flowers," Phil said as he walked into Techno's house as usual. Techno hummed again, not wanting to stop concentrating on the vase.
Did Techno even process Phil's words? No lol, DO A ROSE PATTERN WHERE'S OUR YELLOW ROSES Did Tommy finally get the guts to write something? Lol he did E
A few hours after sunrise, Techno finished the vase and put it next to the other vases. He stood up and went to read the letter.
Dear Technoblade,
What do you want to talk about? If it's something stupid, I won't meet you.
Is all that it said.
THE CHILD KNOWS HOW TO WRITE? NO, NO, LET ME ASK ONE BETTER, SINCE WHEN DID HE HAVE GRAMMAR? He probably asked someone to write it for him lol LOL YEAH
Techno sighed, tuning out Chat. He made a letter, put the letter at the usual spot, and went on with his chores.
—
"You got another letter, mate," Phil said as he walked into the room at night. Techno was busy taking care of the flowers.
"What does it say?" Techno asked. He soon heard a letter being opened and paper being unfolded.
"Dear Technoblade, meet me in Pogtopia, I'll be there before sunrise." Phil read out loud. They both said nothing else. Phil knew that Techno will go, he doesn't need to ask.
—
"Bye Techno, stay safe and take care." Phil said, waving goodbye to Techno. It was about to be sunrise, and it'd be a little over an hour if Techno took his time.
"Bye," Techno said, as he went into the Nether Portal.
As Techno went into Pogtopia, he heard food being made.
"What are you making?" Techno asked as he entered the kitchen. There, he saw Tommy, with a bouquet of yellow roses at his side in a vase. "Potato stew. You want some?" Tommy asked.
Techno let out a Yes , in Piglin. Tommy nodded.
"You still remember Piglin?" Techno asked as Tommy continued to cook breakfast. " Of course I do, big man, you taught me after all. "
Techno let out an amused huff. Of course, Tommy remembered. Techno ignored the instincts as they snorted affections to his runt. Techno doesn't want to tune in Chat, for the only thing he'll get is a headache.
Tommy said nothing as he gave Techno his plate, as the blond already had put down one for himself.
They ate quietly. Peacefully.
After they both finished, the quiet continued. Techno coughed to get Tommy's attention, not that he didn't have it before.
"So... flowers?" Techno said. Tommy rolled his eyes, clearly amused, "flowers." he said.
"Why?" Techno knew he didn't have to say much else, as Tommy gave the indicator he knew what he meant.
"I missed you. After thinking a lot about it, Doomsday, the betrayal, all of it, I wanted to... make it up to you? I don't know big man, I just started doing it impulsively." Tommy explained, "I didn't know how, at first, so I just did a letter at first. But then I couldn't put anything on paper, except doodles. I went on a walk - which is shit at night by the way - and stumbled across this place. I saw a flower grow from the cracks. I came up with the idea of flowers, and well. That's how this shit show began. I took out all of your potatoes and started growing flowers."
Techno hummed, and Tommy looked away, clearly nervous.
"Why did you want to make it up to me? We clearly said what we wanted to do at Doomsday." Techno asked.
"Well, I..." Tommy cut himself off. He started to bite himself, and as Techno looked at Tommy's hands, it wasn't that long ago since he started the habit.
Techno sighed. Tommy started to bite more. Techno frowned, "Stop that."
Tommy looked at him with fear, ( why is runt looking at me like that, runt, runt, I'll protect you, runt, runt-), and stopped biting himself. As far as Techno could see anyway.
Tommy took a deep breath, in and out. "I wanted to say sorry. I'm not sorry for choosing L'manburg, but... yeah, okay, fuck, uhm- Sorry for everything else? Yeah. Sorry. I- yeah, sorry."
Techno opened his mouth to say something, but he closed it again. Tommy looked away, and continued, "I would still like to be your friend, and if that's not possible then. Fuck, be on good terms? I don't fuckin'- fucking know. I just-" Tommy stopped himself before he said anything else.
"I don't forgive you just yet, after all, you did betray me-" Tommy opened his mouth, probably to apologize, but Techno put his hand up, stopping him. "However I can start forgiving you if we start hanging out again."
Tommy said nothing but then smiled a little. "Yeah... Then let's start getting a few things straight before the misunderstandings start again."
Techno hummed.
That day, Techno didn't return but did send Phil a message.
—
In beginning, it was awkward, but slowly it turned into an easy friendship. Tommy continued to give Techno flowers, but it was mostly yellow roses.
And with every flower, Techno carefully took care of the flowers and smiled softly. The letters stayed blank, but this time, instead of a lone crown, it also had two discs with it. The crown that most people Techno recognizes with, and discs that people associate Tommy with.
Overall, there might be bumps, but the friendship stayed, even if the two people have different beliefs, and that’s all they needed.
