His acute eyes could see her own eyes despite the darkness; they had gone wide, and for a fleeting moment he worried he’d scared her, and was about to pull back and apologize, but then, amidst the sharp, smoky smell of the extinguished candle, the delicious scent of her arousal hit his snout.
