“I didn’t know I was one of your angels, Mr. Fool,” an amused voice echoed from within the chapel.
Klein flinched after hearing that familiar voice. He halted in his steps before getting ready to blink out of the place. It was only now that he spotted a young man sitting in one of the seats. The man slowly turned his head to look at him, revealing his amused smile and the monocle resting on his right eye.
Klein frowned, “Getting hit by a supernova wasn’t enough, was it?”
Amon didn’t look at all phased by Klein’s taunt, instead his smile grew wider. “Congratulations on waking up, Mr. Fool. Or should I say Half Lord of the Mysteries?”
Klein didn’t respond to Amon. Still holding his caution considering Amon’s nature, he stole the distance between them and sat beside “Him”. Amon didn’t react to his actions.
“What do you want, Amon?”
“He” shouldn’t be here for a fight. “He’s” smart enough to know that “He” wouldn’t be able to defeat someone who was able to win against Celestial Worthy of Heaven and Earth’s will. “He’s” most definitely here for something else. The question is what exactly is “He” looking for?
It can’t be… is “He” currying for favor? I mean, he did have his characteristics with him. He wouldn’t put it past Amon not to know what shame was. He doubted “He” even knew what shamelessness was.
“You both came from the same place, didn’t you?”
Klein didn’t know who “He” was referring to at first before seeing the look on Amon’s face. Strangely there was curiosity on “His” face, an expression he had never seen on Amon before.
“You mean your father and I?”
Amon didn’t confirm anything, only looking at him with a smile.
Klein let out a laugh. “What will you give me in exchange for this information?”
The smile on Amon’s face didn’t waver. He only said two words. “Western Continent.”
The smile on Klein’s face immediately disappeared. He narrowed his eyebrows at Amon before weighing “His” words.
Amon should have some information on the Western Continent considering the length of “His” travels in the Forsaken Land of the Gods. But “He” already knows the answer to “His” previous question. “He” knows about Chernobyl and thus the origins of “His” father. “He” was looking for something else.
“That isn’t your real question is it?” Klein asked, voicing out his thoughts.
“Tell me about that place.”
Klein was shocked by Amon’s question. Out of everything “He” could have asked, he didn’t think Amon would ask that. He didn’t think Amon was interested in what Earth was like in the first place. There was no benefit to be had from knowing what it was like in the past.
There was an amused look on Klein’s face before he asked, “And why are you curious about such information? Don’t you have your brother to ask?”
Amon didn’t answer, only waiting for Klein to answer his question. Klein inwardly shook his head at Amon’s behavior.
“He” should be calling me uncle considering how he was far far older than Amon could ever imagine. The youth these days!
Klein sighed before leaning back on his seat, looking at the altar of his church. “What do you want to know? There’s a lot to cover.”
Klein paused. “On second thought, you might not know enough to ask for specifics. I’ll start with the people.”
Amon didn’t respond, only listening to what Klein was saying.
“The people on Earth were nothing like the people now. Unlike the world right now, the world in the past didn’t have sequences. We were just normal people. We didn’t have any knowledge about the gods nor did we even know that such abilities were even a possibility.”
A smile grew on Amon’s face. “So you were weak?”
Klein chuckled. He didn’t deny it. “We were, when compared with the power a true god can exert. But back then, several countries and leaders had the power to decimate cities with just the push of a button. There was no need to risk danger by advancing through the sequences. We simply needed to make a specific weapon to do so.”
Amon’s smile widened. “He” seemed interested in this weapon Klein mentioned. Sensing his interest, Klein decided not to expound.
“However, that isn’t interesting. The world back then was far more advanced than the world now. Technology was far more advanced. We could communicate with people across the globe in the span of milliseconds with just a tiny device called a phone. Healthcare was advanced as well and we could cure several diseases that were considered very deadly long in the past.”
“Sounds chaotic.”
Klein flinched. For some reason, he didn’t want to say Amon was right, but considering the crazy things that happened on the internet, he couldn’t bring himself to say otherwise.
With a tight smile he continued, “The world then was very peaceful and relatively safe. Definitely safer for the average human being as compared to what it is now. There were even systems in place to help uplift those in poverty. However, there were some places that were still in conflict, I won’t deny that.”
“Before your father awakened, “He” most probably was just a normal human being who worked a normal job to support "Himself " and "His" family. I was the same.” There was a nostalgic smile on Klein’s face.
“It sounds very uneventful.”
Klein almost laughed at what Amon said before stopping himself from doing so.
It was the opposite of uneventful! Amon would definitely find a way to make things more interesting. Perhaps start a laundering scheme? Maybe rob several banks? Or maybe even be an international criminal. The sky’s the limit considering Amon’s personality.
With an amused smile on his face, he slowly turned to Amon. “That’s all the information I’m giving you for now. Now, what about the Western Continent do you have?”
