Bucky sees Sam fall.

Bucky stopped breathing.
Stopped thinking.
They were in the middle of a battle. Wong and Joaquín and Monica were all screaming in his earpiece at Bucky, but he couldn’t hear any of it. Focus on anything coming his way.
Because Sam had stopped answering.
He stopped answering as he fell.
Fell.
All.
The.
Way.
Down.
Dropped from the sky, like a falling star.
Instead of a man falling past a floating rigged helicarrier this splinter of HYDRA group stole.
Fell the height of the Empire State Building.
Or maybe the Willis Tower.
Or maybe Mount Kilimanjaro.
Or maybe Mount Everest.
Bucky’s brain tried to make sense of it, the downloaded information crammed there for the Winter Soldier flooding Bucky with facts as he tried to come to grips with what he was watching, but Bucky really couldn’t.
Not when Bucky watched Sam helplessly plummet down into the ocean below.
