Re: Re: Resume

Summary:

Just a silly attempt at a story told through resumes (and other methods of communication)

Notes:

idk y'all i'm gonna blame the concussion for this one (insert here your friendly PSAs on TBIs - it doesn't just happen to athletes!)

also don't take this as legit resume advice lol - though the only thing i will say about job hunting is 1) focus on good companies bc if you're at a good company, you can always internal transfer to the job you really want, and 2) use the STAR method for both resume and interviews

other things:
- formatting is probably dated but i don't care - all of this is in the name of the father the son and shenanigans
- also most of the names and stuff are made up but i may have gotten ideas from real places. just go with it, it's fanfic

Bea, I know you’re not a nun anymore but you don’t have to lie: Don’t think I don’t know that you saying “I set a timer” doesn’t mean you actually limited yourself to working within that time.

Rest is important, Beatrice. There’s no shame in it.

Anyway, I left some comments, I’ll check in with you later this weekend at the usual time!

Love and prayers,
Camila

p.s. Why do you always use quotation marks like that??? I don’t know which of you is worse at email, you or Lilith…

File - Resume, rough draft ver 1

Beatrice [... We need to get you a last name. I’ll work on that!]

[email protected] [We also need to get you an updated email address that doesn’t make people think you’re 70]

Education [It’s fine to have high school work here for now - but you can also put those certifications you’re working on! Even if they’re still in progress, it’ll look good here]

  • Class representative
  • No. 1 class ranking
  • Literature club [We should make a book club!]

  • Ministry leadership responsibilities included religious studies such as church service and prayer, community maintenance such as grounds work and cleaning services, local community and social services such as hospital visits and after school education

  • Managerial responsibilities included employee scheduling, stocking and organizing supplies, and maintaining the peace [This is a fantastic way to describe being a bouncer I love it]

[Also, didn’t you mention something about feedback surveys? If there are any statistics from those, it would be great to add here too!]

[No “personal trainer”?] [Edit: I know that sounds like a joke but it’s not. Ava would want you to take advantage of every experience you’ve had to build a life that’s beautiful. You’ve more than earned it.]

[15:47] dudeimanun: so was the interviewer cute?

[15:58] dudeimanun: bea?

[15:59] dudeimanun: how was the interview?

[16:02] user93112: I don’t think this is a good idea. I can’t possibly do this.

[16:02] dudeimanun: do what?

[16:05] user93112: Be normal.

[16:06] dudeimanun: ok. first of all, normal is overrated

[16:06] dudeimanun: second of all, you are the best of all us, you’ve blown up the vatican, of course you can do this

[16:06] dudeimanun: third of all, you were manager of that bar in the alps, that’s a normal job

[16:07] user93112: That was because of the mission.

[16:07] dudeimanun: beatrice

[16:08] dudeimanun: not once nowhere did it say that you needed to work at a bar or become manager in just a month

[16:08] dudeimanun: and i definitely didn’t specify that you needed to stay in a 1-bedroom apartment

[16:09] user93112: It was financially prudent.

[16:09] dudeimanun: who was the big spoon?

[16:09] user93112: Camila.

[16:10] dudeimanun: beatrice, it'll be fine. i’m sorry if i came off like i was pushing you. i really do believe that you can do this! besides, your first - okay, second real job doesn’t have to be perfect. you’re just finding out what it’s like, what you like, what you want to do. be patient with yourself and give yourself just a fraction of the grace you give to us

[16:11] dudeimanun: also, mother writes a great recommendation letter

[16:19] dudeimanun: bea?

[16:21] user93112: For someone who hasn’t worked outside of the Church, you seem to have quite a lot of experience in this.

[16:22] dudeimanun: experience in what, being your friend? ;)

[16:22] dudeimanun: i’m always here for you, bea.

[16:22] dudeimanun: and i’ll tell you a secret: reddit is a great tool, you should check it some time!

[16:24] user93112: I’d rather not.

[16:24] user93112: I’d rather your help instead.

[16:25] dudeimanun: of course, beatrice. we’re here with you every step of the way, i promise

[16:26] dudeimanun: can you do me just one favor?

[16:27] user93112: Of course, anything.

[16:27] dudeimanun: can you please change your username to something easier to remember?

Employee review
Profile: Beatrice
How do you know Beatrice? Work colleague at Butterfly Labs

If you want to know what working with Beatrice was like, picture the best working relationship you’ve ever had … and multiply that by 1,000.

I’ve worked at many startups across several industries now, but no one has made such a professional - and personal - impact on me. When Beatrice joined the company two years ago, she brought with her a sense of purpose and a drive that inspired us all to bring our A game every day. She revolutionized how we worked, making us more efficient, more focused, and most important of all: more kind.

I can spout statistics at you for days of Beatrice’s impact: millions in ARR, dozens of percentage points of improved employee engagement, hundreds of lives changed in the edtech space. It was no surprise that she rocketed to upper management in such a short time and everyone I know who worked in her department has cited her leadership as part of their personal success.

Speaking of personal, Beatrice helped us connect with our local communities and I had no idea how my life would change volunteering at an after school coding program that Beatrice helped us create. These kids are like family now, and my life is more full than I could have ever imagined.

Beatrice is the hardest working and most thoughtful person you’ll ever meet. Even while she was on leave of absence, she was providing insightful guidance and unblocking snarls. I’ll be using what I’ve learned from her for years to come.

tl;dr - If you have the chance to work with Beatrice, take it - I know I will when the time comes again.
