Fertile 24/7

Summary:

Jay insisted Sunghoon wore a particular shirt to his birthday party. Sunghoon didn't trust him, but it was his birthday so he gave in. Given Heeseung's reaction, Sunghoon thought he shouldn't have trusted Jay.

Notes:

Happy birthday Jay, even if this is not about you. Honestly, this has no plot, I just thought it'd be fun and I don't have time to write longer things. I still like it, so I hope you have fun reading it!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Please, you have to wear it for my birthday,” Jay insisted on the phone. “You know I wouldn’t make you look ridiculous for my birthday, for some other party… but not mine.” Jay defended himself.

Sunghoon stared intently at the outfit on his bed. He might not be an expert, but he believed himself to have a pretty good fashion sense. The thing was, Jay knew quite a bit about fashion for being an alpha; he knew a lot about it, actually, way more than most people in general. He’d never admit it out loud and he’d rather die than tell the alpha that.

The more he looked at the outfit, the more he questioned that.

It wasn’t ugly by any means, but it seemed too basic for him. Plain jeans, a belt and a white shirt with a relatively big inscription over the left side; Sunghoon couldn’t read it, he guessed it was in English or something. It probably didn’t matter, and it was actually kind of cute, with a small heart. There was just something that didn’t sit right with Sunghoon, he didn’t trust Jay this time. Something was off.

Yet, he sighed and resigned himself to trusting Jay for the moment. As he had said on the phone, he wouldn’t make him wear anything too ridiculous for his birthday party, maybe just mildly ridiculous. Sunghoon could deal with that.

“Fine,” he conceded hanging up the phone. He’d get ready and head over to Jay’s apartment, maybe he’d be late just to annoy him.

By the time he’d arrived, several people were already there. Jay had quite a bit of money, so his apartment was a little bigger than your average student’s. It could pack quite a few people, and Jay was very much into big parties. That’s not to say he was into loud parties, just for there to be as many people as possible. So, as a consequence, Jay’s apartment was slowly being filled with people talking in small groups all over, with just some quiet music in the background.

No one seemed to be paying particular attention to him, no more than what he usually got for his looks, so he guessed Jay just really liked this shirt. Not even Sunoo said anything, and he knew the other omega would be the first to make fun of him if his shirt was anything but descent. Jay looked pleased to see he was wearing the shirt when he caught sight of him while talking to someone else; Sunghoon could give him that since it was his birthday.

When Sunghoon finally managed to get to Jay, he was talking with Heeseung, an alpha they were both friends with. An alpha Sunghoon may have a tiny crush on, but they would not be talking about that. He really hoped the shirt was just a plain shirt and not something to ridicule him.

“You wore the shirt!” Jay sounded too excited over the fact, which just made Sunghoon suspicious again.

“Starting to think I shouldn’t have,” Sunghoon commented doubtfully. “Happy birthday, it better not be as bad as I think.”

“It’s not! I swear, right hyung?” He turned to Heeseung, making Sunghoon pray that it really wasn’t that bad. “It looks good, right?” Something made Sunghoon not want to trust Jay, purely out of instinct.

“Yeah, it looks really c—” Heeseung chocked as he checked out Sunghoon’s outfit. It startled Sunghoon, but Jay seemed to be fighting himself not to laugh. “I-it’s goog- good, I mean, it looks- looks nice.”

Sunghoon didn’t know how to take that response, especially as Heeseung continued coughing.

“Hyung—” Sunghoon was about to ask if he was okay, but Heeseung was quick to start walking away from them.

“I need to use the toilet,” he excused himself so fast, Sunghoon was surprised he didn’t trip over anything.

“What was that?” Sunghoon pointed in the general direction Heeseung had gone to.

“Don’t worry about it,” Jay dismissed it as if it were normal, but he was also laughing. Sunghoon was concerned.

In light that he had zero evidence of it being connected to his shirt or him in general, Sunghoon dropped the topic. They talked for a bit, but Jay was quickly taken away by Jungwon. Sunghoon could not compete against him for Jay’s attention, and he didn’t want to either. Even if it seemed a little creepy, Sunghoon stared at them. Partially because it was hilarious to watch Jay be at Jungwon’s mercy, but also a bit out of envy.

When he’d first met Heeseung, he’d tried flirting with him. Jake told him he had looked quite desperate at the time and Jay had made fun of his pitiful attempts. Heeseung never seemed to figure out what he had been doing, and Sunghoon would gladly keep it like that. That, however, did not mean he had completely given up; he’d become more subtle. Not giving up meant that he still yearned for that closeness, and he was jealous that his friends got something he wanted.

He was also a coward, so even if he wanted, he was not going to do anything too drastic. He’d humiliated himself enough already, he needed a few more months to recover from that. For the moment, he’d enjoy the party and the food, possibly talk to some of his friends and then go back home.

“Good, I’ve found you.” A dramatic exclamation came from behind him. “Jungwon left me alone to flirt with Jay,” Sunoo complained once Sunghoon turned towards him.

“And you can’t make any friends, evidently,” he mocked him. “I’ll ignore you implying I’m your second choice,” he added, faking being hurt.

“Please, you’d leave me for Heeseung-hyung in a heartbeat,” he rolled him eyes. “And I don’t feel like talking to new people tonight, too much effort.”

“That I agree with,” Sunghoon commented, they walked closer to a wall as people kept pushing them to pass by. “I saw hyung a bit ago, he was acting weird,” Sunghoon commented.

“Weird how? Hyung’s always a little out of it,” Sunoo said, with no ill intention.

“More than usual, I don’t know,” Sunghoon admitted. He was just a little confused. “I hope it wasn’t the shirt…”

“The shirt? Why would your shirt do anything, it’s normal?” Sunoo pointed out, sounded even a little offended by how simple Sunghoon’s shirt was.

“Jay made me wear it,” Sunghoon explained and Sunoo made a soundless ‘Ah’ as a response. It all made sense.

“I still think it’s just a shirt,” he admits. Then, his eyes sparkled and Sunghoon feared what he was about to do. “Hyung! Come here for a second,” Sunoo called. Sunghoon turned and saw Heeseung, just in time to watch as he dropped the glass he had in his hand, panicked and awkwardly waddled away.

“What the fuck?” Sunghoon murmured.

“Yeah, okay,” Sunoo nodded. “That was weird, what did you do?”

“Nothing!” Putting up his hands, Sunghoon attempted to defend himself. “Unless my scent gave anything away, I literally did nothing.”

“There’re so many people I can’t even smell you,” Sunoo huffed. He then pointed at where Heeseung had dropped his glass. “But that wasn’t normal weird Heeseung-hyung behaviour, and he was fine until you turned to look at him, so you must have done something.”

“I didn’t, I swear!” Sunghoon pouted.

“Hey, guy! I just saw hyung and he was kind of really out of it, do you know—” Jake had appeared from the same direction Heeseung had gone to, and had immediately stopped talking once he saw Sunghoon. He actually started laughing confusingly loudly.

“They are all losing it, what is Jay giving us to drink?” Sunoo stared blankly at Jake, Sunghoon had to agree with him.

“God, did Jay give you the shirt?” Jake asked once he could speak again.

“What did he make me wear?” Sunghoon freaked out for a second before Jake calmed him down.

“Man, Heeseung-hyung is so weak,” Jake commented, holding back his laugh. “Don’t worry, this time it wasn’t a prank on you,” Jake explained as he seemed to have connected all the dots. Sunoo and Sunghoon remained confused.

One thing only was on Sunghoon’s mind, he was going to kill Jay. Even if the shirt wasn’t to make fun of him, it seemed to make Heeseung ran away from him. He could not have that. He wasn’t quite sure how the shirt was meant to make fun of anyone else if he was wearing it, but he’d figure that out once he found Jay. Things needed to be explained and Jay would answer his questions, all of them, not just avoid them.

As he was looking for Jay, a task much harder than it should have been considering this was his apartment, Sunghoon came across Heeseung. Well, it was more like Heeseung crashed against him really. Sunghoon had the nagging suspicion that he wouldn’t have crossed paths with Heeseung any other way, with how intently the alpha was trying to avoid him. Especially with how, the moment he realised he’d hit Sunghoon, his eyes widened and he attempted o ran away. He couldn’t, though, as Sunghoon held onto his arm.

“Wait,” Sunghoon didn’t even make it sound like an order, and yet Heeseung listened, freezing on the spot. “Can you explain what’s going on? Did I do something?” Sunghoon knew half the answer to this, but a small anxious part of him still wondered.

“No, no, of course, not,” Heeseung said nervously. “I just really need to…” he looked down, glancing at Sunghoon’s shirt and blushing profusely. “N-need to go… uh—”

“Hyung,” Sunghoon sighed, tired of his stuttering even if he found it cute. “Just tell me what’s with the shirt,” he demanded. “I know Jay made me wear it for some reason, and it seems to be to annoy you, so just, what is it?”

“It’s… it’s not to annoy me…” Heeseung didn’t deny that it was the shirt, which Sunghoon guessed was progress. “I think Jay wants to kill me,” Heeseung said, sounding almost choked up. Sunghoon was convinced that was a bit dramatic.

“It’s just a shirt,” Sunghoon deadpanned.

“Did you… read what it says?” Heeseung asked, confusing Sunghoon. He had wondered, but it didn’t seem important.

“I thought it was like, the brand or slogan,” he admitted. “I have no idea what it says,” he added, trying to look at it but still failing to understand.

“It… uh… it says: Breedable and fertile 24/7.” Heeseung told him. His words didn’t immediately register in Sunghoon’s brain, but oh did he want to murder Jay once they did.

“I’m committing homicide,” Sunghoon declared. “What is wrong with him? Why would he make an omega wear this? Why would he make me wear this?” Sunghoon started murmuring angrily, huffing and stomping his feet, which probably didn’t make him look too threatening.

“Maybe let’s not kill him on his birthday?” Heeseung suggested, sounding conflicted and relieved.

“Why does it bother you so much?” Sunghoon suddenly switched the focus of his questions. “Jake said the prank wasn’t on me, and you have been acting all weird because of the shirt…” Sunghoon was trying really hard to connect all the dots. It wasn’t working.

“I… have to go.” Heeseung attempted to escape once more, but Sunghoon stopped him again by tightly grabbing his arm and pulling him closer. He was basically hugging Heeseung’s arm. “Don’t make me say it…”

“Say what?” Sunghoon could have been taunting Heeseung, but he honestly had no clue. “I just want to understand.”

“This… I… The shirt…” Heeseung mumbled, not connecting his words. “God, I think I’ll kill Jay…” he sighed and looked at Sunghoon. “It makes some… images pop in my mind and I’d rather not think about… that.”

“Think about what?” Sunghoon saw how hard Heeseung was trying to remain calm and he didn’t seem to be helping.

“Uh… what the shirt says,” Heeseung explained as vaguely as he could.

“Why?” Sunghoon could swear he wasn’t doing it on purpose. It only clicked for him when Heeseung made a face akin to someone wanting to die. “Oh, you mean… you think of me… of us…” As all the pieces found their place inside Sunghoon’s mind, he slowly got redder and redder.

“That, yeah,” Heeseung looked up at the ceiling to avoid looking at Sunghoon.

“Do you like me?” Sunghoon had to ask, and maybe he felt a little dumb asking but he had to know. After all, he was attractive, maybe it was more of an instincts thing or a sexual desire thing. He wasn’t going to do anything if that was the case; now, if Heeseung liked him, that was a completely different story.

“I… do, I like you,” Heeseung continued looking at the ceiling and only looked down when Sunghoon didn’t let go of his arm as he heard the confirmation.

“Are you sure?” Sunghoon was overcome with insecurity and hope.

“Yes?” Heeseung was lost, but he felt like honesty was his only way out. “I like you a lot, so if we could… ignore all this, and maybe get you another shirt…”

“We could go to Jay’s room,” Sunghoon suggested instead.

“To look for a shirt?” Heeseung asked, uncertain because his mind went in a totally different direction.

“For revenge,” Sunghoon clarified. “He can’t blame us if we have sex on his bed.” Sunghoon shrugged at the same time Heeseung almost died.

“W- Sunghoon!” Heeseung sounded scandalised. “You can’t say that!”

“But… you want to?” He sounded confused; had he maybe misunderstood Heeseung?

Heeseung looked at him intensely, like he was trying to figure out something. Sunghoon wondered what he was thinking about, to him it had been a great idea. They did something they both wanted and they also got back at Jay for the stupid shirt, it was a win-win kind of situation. Except for Jay, but he didn’t matter at the moment. As far as Sunghoon had understood, Heeseung did want to have sex with him, that had been the whole problem, so why not do it as a solution? But if he had meant something else, then Sunghoon was most certainly looking like an idiot.

“Let’s go on a date first, or three,” Heeseung concluded after a couple of seconds of just staring at Sunghoon. “I feel like you are too impatient to let me court you,” he sighed, sadly.

“I can be patient if that’s what you want?” Sunghoon offered. “But I’d rather you didn’t, takes too long,” he admitted. “Can’t we just be together? We can go on dates anyway.”

“At least one date before that?” Heeseung negotiated.

“Can we still have sex on Jay’s bed?” Sunghoon offered back.

“No,” Heeseung denied him, which made Sunghoon pout. “I don’t want to fuck you on another alpha’s bed, it’s… unpleasant.”

“Oh…” Sunghoon realised, Heeseung might be more possessive than he had expected. He liked it. “Okay, we can go on a date and then have sex on your bed,” Sunghoon changed his offer.

“Only if you tell me you like me,” Heeseung smiled, obviously having already given in.

“I like you, Heeseung-hyung,” Sunghoon almost purred the words, pressing himself against Heeseung’s arm which he was still holding.

“I like you, too,” Heeseung answered back, kissing Sunghoon on the cheek. “I’ll pick you up on Tuesday, I know you don’t have any morning classes the next day.”

Sunghoon couldn’t wait for Tuesday to come.
