Our Mission To The Death

Summary:

“I’m surprised! Both of you are here on time. Is it raining dogs and cats or something?” Brimstone chuckled. No one laughed.
“Right, so today is our first day of training. Sorry to inform you both but the real mission begins after these mandatory trainings.”

“I don’t need training. Just give me the job and Phoenix can do your training.”

“What, no! I don’t need training!”

“Still haven’t beaten my score in the range.”
Yoru teased and Phoenix bit.

“I wasn’t even trying”

A bullet hit the wall behind Phoenix and he flinched. The loud sound bounced off the walls and filled the room with a loud bang. A hole appeared with steam right beside Phoenix’s head.

“Did you just try to shoot me?”

OR

Rivals have to learn to work together. Phoenix and Yoru will have to overcome the hardships of being a team. Completely unaware of all the hand-holding that comes along with it.

Notes:

A silly fanfic of these two idiots.

Can be interpreted in many ways. Their relationship can be platonic or romantic if you want. I just enjoy their dynamic and wanted to write about it, lol.

Short first chapter, sorry!!

Enjoy! <3

Chapter Text

Phoenix can’t stand Yoru. His stupid hair and ridiculous jacket. Not to mention his incredible aim, which had to be black magic. He hated it all and didn’t even try to hide it. Their constant arguing and continuous bickering didn’t go unnoticed by those around him. Then came the day when Brimstone had enough of the two of them.

"The Valorant Protocol is all about teamwork, and this," he said, waving his hand between the childish men, "is not teamwork."

Phoenix clicked his tongue when he caught Yoru looking his way. That only meant one thing to the radiant. War.

"You both better be listening, or I will bring Sage in here."

Panicked faces turned to the older man, fear in their eyes. ‘Anyone but Sage," Phoenix begged. Brimstone placed his hands on his hips and looked at them in silence. And a few moments later, his face lit up with an idea.

"How about this? The both of you will have a mission. Now listen, this mission is not like the others we have completed; it requires skill and patience. Only the best radiants are fit for a job like this. However, you will need to work together." The other two groan in unison and glare at one another right after. "If you can’t do that simple thing, I do not believe you are meant for this mission. I shall pass it onto Jett and Neon, perhaps."

"I’ll do it even if he doesn’t." Yoru quickly stated that he was not giving Phoenix a chance to respond. "I can do the mission myself."

"Ah, that's some great attitude, yet this mission can’t be done alone. No matter who you are."

"So what you're saying is that this mission needs two radiants?" Phoenix questions, although he already knows the answer. Brimstone nodded. "I’ll do it!"

"Then it’s settled! Get some good nights rest for your big day tomorrow!" He was gone just like that, leaving the other two alone in thought.

‘A special mission. Together. Sounds like hell.’ Phoenix sighed. He was already locked in; there was no escape. ‘I need to do this. I’ll be one step ahead of Jett with this mission completed.’

Yoru, on the other hand, was only thinking of ways to complete the mission without Phoenix.

Obviously, this was going to be a shitshow.

"I’m surprised! Both of you are here on time. Is it raining dogs and cats or something?" Brimstone chuckled. No one laughed.

"Right, so today is our first day of training. Sorry to inform you both, but the real mission begins after these mandatory trainings."

A bullet hit the wall behind Phoenix, and he flinched. The loud sound bounced off the walls and filled the room with a loud bang. A hole appeared with steam right beside Phoenix’s head.

"Did you just try to shoot me?" Phoenix breathed out. Eyes wide as they looked between the hole and Brimstone.

"I might need some training myself. "I can’t believe I missed that." Brimstone dropped his gun onto the table beside him before walking back towards the pair. "Is something the matter?"

"Uh yeah. You just tried to shoot me!" Phoenix said so in disbelief.

"Next time, scope in, which should help with accuracy."

"I see."

"I almost died!”
