Work Text:
The apartment was nice
But it could be quite boring somedays
The most exciting thing was the mice
Who’d sometimes come out to play
Before he got his plant
The fern named Christofern
He’d been doing scant
Except to learn
It was what he was there for
In the first place
Trying to change the lore
Around him to save face
He’d been rooting around
The apartment when
An interesting thing he’d found
Tuned in to channel ten
A radio he saw
Static the only thing heard
Other than that there was no flaw
So soon the hours blurred
As he fixed it
The first thing said
When the voices came through
Was the same things he read
In the newspaper too
He had sighed in defeat
Until a name was mentioned
Saying he’d been absent from the street
For a while along with his friends
That much he knew
His son gone without so much as a smile
His way, not at all making him feel blue
He understood it though, he’d been vile
That much was true
It wasn’t his fault
Or maybe it was
His heart in a vault
All because
He was an Oni
A villain and worse
Leaving Lloyd all alone, lonely
Along with a curse
The curse of his destiny
The curse of his fate
At the hands of many others
As well as his own
What kind of father was he?
To leave his son all alone?
Why couldn’t he see
The kindness he owed?
Lloyd was right to hate him
Even if he wished it weren’t so
So maybe he could go out on a limb
No matter how low
His son thought of him
Perhaps he could earn his redemption
In due time
As long as he started paying attention
It would be fine
So each day he sat and listened
As the sun outside glistened
Hoping to hear more
About his son, life no longer a bore
Now with a purpose
He pledged his service
To be the best father
In hope that his son would return
And forgive him
