“We should’ve arrived back home yesterday,” Sypha muttered, as she stared out into the pouring rain.
“I know,” Trevor just replied.
“Oh, I just do not know… I have a bad feeling. With the rain and the harvest and leaving all the kids just with Adrian and Greta.”
Trevor already knew, where this was going, as he was sitting next to her on that fucking uncomfortable bed in the in. “They will be fine, though.”
“But what if they aren’t? I mean, the twins are a handful right now and Marie is just getting herself into trouble and…”
“Sypha,” he said, pressing her hand. “Relax.” After all, there was only so much trouble a six-year-old could get into. The worst he could imagine was their little daughter breaking a bone, but he was rather certain she would live through it.
“It is just frustrating. Maybe we should take the horses and just…”
The thunder outside disagreed with her.
“I am just saying, we do not know how long this weather is going to last and we should try and get home and then…”
He gave up, just pressing his lips against hers and running his hand through those red locks. “Breath, Sypha,” he whispered and looked into her eyes.
This at least got her to listen for once, as she took a deep breath and closed her eyes, while he made certain to not let go, just caressing the back of her head with his fingers.
“But…” she started up again, but once more he shut her up with another kiss.
“Sypha. You and I both know they will be just fine. Try and relax. Heck, enjoy to not have an army of ankle biters to care for for once.”
He looked at her and she looked back, sighing. “Alright.”
