Scott and Liam were walking down the corridors, heading to their next class. Liam was talking about the last time he played lacrosse with his stepfather, with a big and bright smile. Meanwhile, Scott held his left hand with his right one, his lips showed a proud smile.
Their relationship was an easy going one, they barely fought and when they did, it didn’t take long for one of them to apologize. But, even so, they weren’t dating, no.
Scott had an extremely big love for the younger, he had this urge to protect Liam from anything and anyone, he liked hugging and kissing him. Not that Liam complained, he actually enjoyed every bit of attention he got from the alpha.
Liam was narrating how he won against his stepfather when Scott smelled a very familiar scent in the air. The smell made him avert his eyes from Liam for the first time since they saw each other that morning and look to where the smell was coming from.
The younger seemed to realize that Scott wasn’t paying attention and followed his eyes with a pout. He saw a blond guy, a lot taller than both of them, the guy had a small smile and, judging by his smell, he was also a werewolf.
“Scott? Who is he?”, but Scott didn’t answer, instead Liam heard him sob lowly and before he could ask anything, Scott let go of his hand and ran towards the tall stranger.
Scott couldn’t believe his own eyes. He was there. He was right there, so close to him and showing off that beautiful smile Scott missed so much.
The alpha ran like his life depended on it, the closer he got to the other werewolf the warmer his chest got and the wetter his eyes became. But apparently he wasn’t the only one getting emotional, the other man’s eyes were shining with unshed tears while he held both arms open for Scott.
When close enough, Scott jumped on his embrace, being promptly held by two strong hands on his thighs.
“Isaac…”, Scott hiccupped and traced Isaac’s face with his shaky fingers, “are you really here? Am I dreaming?”, Isaac flashed an even bigger smile and squeezed Scott’s thighs lightly.
“Yes, I’m here, Scott. You’re not dreaming.”, Scott was shaking and crying hard, he couldn’t stop the tears, not even when he buried his wet face on Isaac’s neck.
“I missed you so, so much, Isaac”, Isaac mumbled ‘sorry’ and tried to explain himself, but before he could, Scott held his cheeks with both his hands, a determined look on his face.
“It’s okay, Isaac. You’re here now, that’s all I need”
Isaac smiled and, for the first time, a tear rolled down his face. Both men were so caught on their own bubble, so happy to see each other again that none of them cared about anyone else.
Scott failed to see Liam’s confused and sad face, failed to see him furiously wiping his tears, failed to see him running away from the scene and also failed to hear his heart breaking.

Hours passed and Scott was still around Isaac like a bee on a pretty flower. They would walk side by side, talk about everything and anything, huge smiles never leaving their faces.
Scott gathered everyone in his house, Stiles and Lydia were smiling from ear to ear. Even with all the fights and problems they faced in the past, both couldn’t hide the happiness of seeing Isaac, and the relief of knowing he was doing well.
Malia and Kira welcomed him with warm hugs, ignoring the fact they didn’t know him prior this day.
Liam was feeling like his whole world crashed down on his back. He wasn’t Scott’s favorite werewolf anymore, Scott’s attention wasn’t on him anymore, he barely even spoke to him since Isaac came back, only rushed words of ‘hey, Liam, this is Isaac, my first beta ever’.
Liam felt like this Isaac guy was stealing everything he had, his alpha, his ‘Scott’s first beta’ title and, most important, he stole Scott’s heart. Liam isn’t stupid, and, although it hurts to accept that, he saw how Scott’s eyes twinkle when he looks at Isaac.
As if reading his thoughts, Scott says he has an important announcement to make. Liam bite his cheeks, getting ready for what he’s sure is coming.
“Guys, me and Isaac talked a lot today and we decided to try”, everyone looked curious and confused, everyone but Liam, “starting from today, we are a couple”, Scott finished flashing a big smile in Isaac direction, Liam felt his heart break a bit more.
While all his friends hugged the new couple and wished them the best, Liam slowly left the house. He couldn’t stand this anymore.
Walking to his house, he played all his memories with Scott like a movie, a no-happy-ending one. He remembered how Scott used to smile at him all day, how Scott would know when he needed comfort and would shower him with affection. He remembered everything he could.
Liam only allowed himself to cry when he crashed on the mattress of his own bed.
