Work Text:
“Dont worry about it, Sam.” Dean said, ignoring the building annoyance that was arising between both of them. “Just someone I met a while ago.”
Claire gave him a look that radiated confusion. “But,-”
“How about we stop for the night?” Jess says, looking between all of them. “I’m pretty tired. I don’t know about you.”
“Yeah, I could sleep.” Dean says, quickly. “Let’s do that.”
Once they get to the room, Dean whirls around to Claire, who has a sour look on her face. “Dad, what’s going on?”
“I just don’t want to talk about Cas and Gabe around Sam and Jess, or anyone, okay?” Dean said, rubbing his hand down his face. “So, try not to name drop them again.”
Claire crossed her arms. “Why?”
Isn’t that the question of the hour. “Because I said so!” Dean snapped.
Claire winced and looked down. “Sorry.” He looked at her, back out of the window and back to her. He sighed deeply, shaking his head. It made him feel horrible, like he’s channeled his father. It was not something he wanted to do with raising Claire.
Dean sat down next to her. “I’m sorry Claire, I shouldn’t have snapped at you. It’s not your fault.” He looked at her. “It’s complicated. I just…don’t want to deal with all that if Sam finds out. I don’t know how he feels about angels or…anything else.”
He kept it short and sweet, figuring that explaining the negative response Sam could have would be a lot to explain.
“I’m sorry.” Claire says quietly. “I didn’t know.”
“It’s fine.” Dean says, giving her shoulder a light swat. “Now come on. Let’s go to sleep, huh?”
A few hours later, he groaned as he got up. Claire had another nightmare, so she had climbed into the bed after waking him up. She hadn’t done that in about two years, so he’s sure the incident in the previous day had shaken her up.
His phone rang as he got in the car for breakfast. “Yeah?”
“Dean, glad to have caught you.” the unknown voice had said. “I have a case you may be interested in…”
He quiet honestly hated planes. He never wanted anything to do with them again, and for good reason.
“You know…” Sam began as they flew down the highway. Claire had elected to sit in the back with Jessica, leaving Sam to claim the passenger seat. “I have to say, flying is not something I expected you to be scared of.”
“Statistically, it’s the-” Jess began, before Dean cut her off.
“Yeah, I know about the statistics.” Dean said, clenching his hands on the wheel. “Doesn’t make me feel any better. Trust me, I know it’s stupid.” He had been told enough times for him to know that.
“At least it’s not an uncommon fear.” Jess pointed out, trying to help him. “Lots of people are afraid of heights.”
“I’m not afraid.” Dean said, flexing his hands on the wheel before clenching them again. “I’m apprehensive. There’s a difference.”
He could almost feel the look Sam and Jess shared. Thankfully, they decided not to point out the innacuary of his statement. He could feel the tenseness of his shoulders lessen, and took a deep breath. “Anywhere specific? I don’t have a case to find just yet, and I think we earned some time off.”
“Disney World!” Claire yelled. “You promised we could go.”
Dean scoffed. “I never promised anything. And Besides, let’s save it for your birthday, huh? Then, we can really enjoy the vacation there.”
Sam raised his eyebrows and looked between the two. “You’re really going to take time off hunting to go to Disney?”
Dean gave Sam a hard look. “Yeah. I am. Unlike some fathers, I actually care about my child’s birthdays.”
Sam gave him another look. “What do you mean? Dad cared about our birthdays.”
“He cares about your birthday.” Dean corrected him. “Probably didn’t even remember when mine was.”
Sam shook his head. “I’m sure that’s not true.”
Dean gave him a tense smile that didn’t reach his eyes, betraying what he really thought of Sam’s statement. He really did not want to get into this argument right now. “Right.”
It was quiet in the car for a bit until Claire said, “I’m hungry.”
“How can you be hungry when you just ate?” Dean asked her. “Where are you putting away all this food?”
Claire grinned. “I ate like three hours ago. And I only had like a snack, so I want a real meal.”
“And you want to go to a diner for it?” Sam asked.
“Yeah.” Claire said. “Obviously.”
Jess laughed at Claire’s look of annoyance and said, “I agree. I am getting quite peckish myself.”
Dean nodded. “Then it’s agreed. Let’s break for lunch, then maybe we can see where we’re heading next, huh?”
“Did you say that Becky sent you an email?” Jess said, as she speared her pancake with a fork. “I thought she was in St. Louis visiting her brother?”
“She is.” Sam said, scrolling through the email. As he continued scrolling, his face changed from interested to concerned, then outright disturbed. “She said Zack was arrested.”
“For what?” Jess asked. “He didn't seem like the type.”
“That’s because he wasn’t.” Sam said, handing her the phone. “I don't think it was him that did this.”
“Murder?” Jess asked him, “That definitely doesn’t sound like him.”
“Interesting friends you’re keeping there Sammy.” Dean said. “Although, I guess I can’t cast any stones considering.” He thought of Gabriel, and figured he couldn’t really pass judgements on friendships Sam had.
“Considering…?” Sam asked him.
“Never mind.” Dean said, waving him off. “So what, you want to go down there and see if there’s a case? Or do you really think he’s capable of that.”
Sam sighs. “I think we need to. Just in case.”
“Becky is our friend and we owe it to her to see if we can help.”
Dean shrugged. “I don’t know how much help I can give her, but I think we can give it the college try.”
Sam rolled his eyes as Jess laughed. “That’s one word for it. She never knew about hunting, so I’m sure it will be a shock when we show up with a detective.”
“Where are we getting a detective?” Dean asked.
“What do you mean?” Jess says, smirking. “We have one right here. Detective in Bisbee, Arizona right?”
Dean caught on to what she said. “Right. Guess what Claire? Your dad just got a promotion.”
“It’s about time.” Claire grumbles. “Do we get insurance too?”
Dean laughed. “Sorry, kid. No vacation days either.”
“Darn.”
Jess giggled as Sam rolled his eyes again. Dean slapped the table and got up. “Alright then, let’s get going.”
As they sat there he raised an eyebrow. “What are you waiting for? We’ve got a murder to solve.”
They scrambled out of the both faster than you could say “vengeful spirit.”
Dean rolled his eyes as he and Claire headed to the car. Just great.
“I don’t know Sam, it doesn’t look like there’s a case here.” Dean said. “I mean…we’ve looked around and there’s even proof that it was him.”
“I don’t know.” Sam said. “It just all feels…off.”
“Well that’s all well and good, but ‘off’ doesn’t help in deciding what we’re going to do. I can only pretend to be a detective for so long.” Dean said. “Jess, what do you think?”
“I don’t know.” Jess said. “It could be a lot of things. It could also be nothing.”
“The dog was acting odd, don’t you think?” Sam said, frowning. “She said it completely changed.”
“Animals do share a sense of being able to see things humans may not be able to perceive.” Jess agreed. “This whole thing is weird though.”
“Okay, I got the tape.” Rebecca said, walking back into the room. “I didn’t want to incriminate myself with your brother here.”
“Alright, let’s see what really happened.” Dean said.
“Uh, are you sure this is something a kid should see?” Rebecca said, looking at Claire. “I mean…it could be rough.”
Claire was busy on her phone. Probably conspiring with Gabriel, Dean thinks. “She’ll be fine. She’s preoccupied anyway.”
She gave him a look. “If you’re sure.” She clicked play and they saw what was assumed to be Zack on film. He sees the flash and sighs. He gives Sam a nudge to get his friend out of the room. He takes the hint and gestures to Jess.
She nods and turns to Rebecca. “Hey Becks, you mind getting some beers for us? And some sandwiches?”
“Sure thing.” She says. “Anything specific? I got a lot to choose from.”
“Anything is fine. Claire eats whatever.” Dean said. “We’re not exactly picky.”
“Alright.” Rebecca says, getting up. “Be back in a few.”
“You’re right.” Dean says, as she enters the kitchen. “This is definitely a case.”
“What makes you so sure?” Sam asked him. “You were certain it wasn’t beforehand.”
Dean flare to the video. “Watch.” He points to the eye flare, pausing it right as it’s shown. “Right here. I’ve seen this before.”
“Where?” Jess asked him. “I don’t think I’ve seen a camera flare like that. What are you thinking?”
Dean heard the sound to indicate their host would be walking back out. “She’s coming back, I’ll tell you at the motel.”
“Sandwiches!” Becky said. “Enjoy.”
“Thanks Becks.” Sam and Jess said. “These look good.”
Claire silently eats her food, still engrossed in her text conversation. Dean sighs at the thought of what this case is about to become. If he is correct in his assumption, and he usually is, this case is going to go from bad to worse. He hated dealing with these things. It always ended messy.
“Well, thanks for all your information.” Jess says as she stands up. “I hope we can help.”
“Me too.” Rebecca says. “It was nice seeing you guys again, especially since I heard about the fire. Good thing you guys got out right?”
”Yeah, definitely lucky.” Sam says. “Well, we’ll see you soon.”
They get back into the car and Dean drives back to the motel.
Sam enters his room first, and Jess follows after. Dean closes the door after Claire, and she flips down on the bed. “So, what are you thinking?” Jess says. “It seemed like you had an idea.”
Dean shook his head. “I have a few guesses.”
“You seem like you have seen this before.” Sam says, giving him an assessing look. “Haven't you?”
Dean shakes his head. “Right now I can’t be sure. But if I had to guess, I’m going along the lines of shapeshifter.” He throws a cocky smirk towards Sam. “Besides, I’ve seen a lot while you were gone Sam. I guess there’s just some things about me you’ll never know.”
Claire rolls her eyes, and Jess hides a laugh behind her hand. The more he spends time around her, and the more she is around, Dean has taken a fast liking to her. He definitely can see where she would fit into the family. If he doesn’t see a proposal from his brother to her soon, he’s going to have plant the idea in Sam’s head. Or talk to Jess, since she seemed like the more level headed one of the two.
“Right.” Sam said, frowning. “Well, anyways, we need to figure out what this is, and fast. I have a feeling he’ll strike again.”
“An unidentified monster getting an unknown person anywhere in this city.” Jess says. “I’m sure that will be easy to pin down.”
“Like looking for a needle in a hay stack.” Dean said. “All we can do it wait, I guess.”
“This sucks.” Sam said.
It was all Dean could do but agree.
“So you think he went underground?” Sam asked him, as Dean leaned against the Impala. “What kind of shapeshifter uses sewers to get around?”
“Well, we saw that he never left the house in the tape, and there are manhole covers nearby.” Dean said. “I think it’s entirely possible he’s using the sewer system to navigate around the city.”
“It’s definitely possible.” Jess said. “And it makes the most sense. I think Dean is right in that this is a shapeshifter. I mean, two places at the same time? It's just not possible. Worst case scenario, I can ask my mom if she has any books to look to through to give us an idea of what we’re dealing with.”
“Alright then.” Dean said, getting up from his relaxed stance. “What are we waiting for? Let’s go into the sewers.”
“Don't sound too excited.” Sam said. “We’ll see what this actually is.”
Dean turns to her. “Jess, you’ll be okay with bringing Claire back to the motel while you call your mom?” He gives her a considering look. “I hate to sideline you with these cases because I know you’re plenty capable but…Claire isn’t exactly Sam’s biggest fan.”
She gives him a smile. “It’s fine. I like hanging out with Claire anyway. Also, a chance to drive a beauty like this? Sign me up.”
“Complimenting my baby is always appreciated, although, it won’t let me let you drive her.” Dean said. “Claire is alright too.”
“Dad.” Claire scoffed.
He laughed and gave her a side arm hug. “I’m just kidding. I’ll be back soon okay? Take care of yourself.”
She hugged him back. “You too.”
“I always do.” Dean gave Jess a significant look. “We’ll be back soon.”
She laughed. “She’ll be fine, Dean.” She gave him a look. “Both of them.”
“Come on! I’m hungry!” Claire called. “Let’s go!”
“Coming.” Jess said. “Good luck.”
As she disappeared, walking away with Claire, Dean looked at Sam and groaned unhappily. “Man, why did it have to be sewers?”
“You’re the one who suggested this.” Sam muttered, and they dropped down the ladder. “Ugh, look at that.”
Sam pointed to a disgusting pile of goo. Dean poked it with a stick and dropped it when he watched it move. “That is disgusting.”
“I know.” Sam agreed. “Let’s see what else we find.”
Sam knew his brother, despite how much he changed, and the new developments in his life, he had a solid understanding of him. And the man he saw appeared from the alley? That was not his brother. As they walked to the car, he decided to test his theory. “Hey, didn’t dad face a shapeshifter in San Antonio?”
“Nah,” Dean replied. “That was Austin. And it was a thought projection, remember?”
Sam frowned. “Right.” The uneasiness never left him, even at the correct answer. He threw the keys at his “brother” who caught them with his supposedly hurt shoulder. He gave him a final once over, and glared at the person in from of him. “You aren’t my brother.”
“What are you talking about?” Dean asked him. “Yeah I am.”
“Dean's shoulder was hurt.” Sam argued. “He wouldn’t have caught the keys with his right hand.”
“Well what do you want me to do?” Dean asked him. “Cry?”
“What did you do with him?” Sam asked, pulling the gun out. “Where did he go?!”
“I’m right here!” The man out his hands up. “It’s me, your brother. Chill out, would you? You’re about to shoot me.”
“You’re not Dean.” Sam said.
“Well then fine, why don’t you shoot me just to be sure.” Dean said. “Since you don’t think so.”
At Sam’s hesitation, the man gave an evil grin, swung a crowbar at him, and everything went back.
He woke up what seemed like a few moments later, in a dark dingy underground room. Clothes were piled and he was tied up. He looked around the dark room and found nothing. The shapeshifter, still in his brothers form, looked at him in disgust. “Wake up.”
“Where is Dean?”
“Don’t worry about it.” He said. He turned to Sam, and laughed, shaking his head. “You know, the more I learn about you and your family, the more I realize how messed up you all really are.”
Sam squinted at him, confused. “What are you talking about?”
“I mean, man I knew it was bad, but I didn’t realize it was this bad, you know?” The shapeshifter shakes his head. “Like the issues alone. Enough to fill up a comic book.”
“Issues?”
“Oh yeah. He has issues with you. With dad. With himself.” The shapeshifter sharks his head in mock contrition. “I mean, after all, you got to go to college. You got to have a real life with the person you loved, you got to leave.”
Sam frowned. “What are you talking about?”
“Oh he never told you?” The shapeshifter shakes his head in mock sympathy. “I guess it makes sense. Dean never wanted to be a hunter. He always wanted that ‘apple pie’ life. He just never felt he could. Dad needed him, no time for dreams of his own. My own.”
“What did you do with my brother?” Sam hissed, hoping this time the shifter would answer him. “Tell me.”
“I could.” The shapeshifter nodded. “Or I could tell you how Dean feels like everyone leaves him. You did, Dad did. He does everything for everyone and they repay him by leaving and cutting contact. He knows deep down everyone is going to leave him sooner or later. It’s just a matter of time.”
Sam is quiet so the shapeshifter continues. “I’m amazed that he has had the relationship he’s had for so long now. Two whole years. Well, I guess when your partner is virtually indestructible, you worry less about them getting hurt. I mean, Cas, what an interesting name.” The shapeshifter laughs. “I find it so funny you don’t know. Not for a while, at least.”
“That I don’t know what?” Sam asked him, curious despite himself. He had felt like Dean was keeping a huge secret, more than one at times, and that introducing Claire was a small piece of the puzzle of the last four years. He wanted to know the truth, and that wasn't something Dean was interested in telling.
“Well, that’s enough show and tell, don't you think?” The shapeshifter said. “I have an important appointment to attend. Don’t want to keep Becky waiting, huh?”
He covered the sheet over Sam’s face, and it wasn’t until a few moments passed that Dean, the real Dean, appeared in front of him. “I'm not that annoying in real life, am I?”
Sam cracked a grin. “Sometimes.”
“Great.” Dean said. “Ignoring that, we need to head back to Rebecca’s. He’s gonna do something, I can feel it.”
“What, now you two have a mental link?” Sam joked. “That’s how he can see into your brain?”
Dean gave a flat look. “Don't even joke about that Sam.”
Sam laughed as he got untied and rubbed his arms before he gestured to the way out. “After you.”
“Well you know what they say.” Dean says, walking out. “Beauty before age.”
“It’s age before beauty.” Sam corrects. “Which in this case would be true.”
“I don't know Sam, I don’t think you’re right.” Dean smirked. “Now come on, the shifter is getting away.”
Sam followed, grumbling inaudibly to himself as they left.
Sam glared at the shifter in front of him. "Would it kill you to stop knocking unconscious?"
"You're a funny guy, Sam." The shifter said. "Too bad it won't save you."
"Why are you doing this?" Sam asked. "Where is Rebecca?"
"Never mind her." The shifter said. "Let's worry about you. Actually let's worry about your brother."
"What?"
The shifter smiled, using the knife to lift same head. "I mean, he's going to be hunted for the rest of his life. Not even divine intervention can save him this time. Murder in the first, of his brother? He'll never be free." The shifter laughed. "I will say though, I will be sorry to lose this skin. Your brother has a lot of good qualities, you should appreciate him more."
Sam waits for the shifter to drop his guard, and once he does he escapes. They fight and Sam sees Dean run into the room. Sam shoves the shifter off him, and Dean shoots the shifter.
The blank face after Dean looks at the shifter wearing his face chills Sam. It isn't a face he's seen on Dean before, and it's not one he wants to see again. It worries him.
Dean yanks the necklace off the shifter and turns to Sam. "Let's get out of here."
“So, is what you guys are doing on your “extended road trip”?” Rebecca asked Jessa and Sam as they watch Dean pack up. “Does anyone from school know?”
“I doubt it.” Sam said. “We didn’t even know each other was aware of all of this until the apartment fire.”
Jess nods. “It was quite the shock to both of us.” she said. “But I’m glad we were able to get the charges off your brother.”
“Yeah, they connected it all to this Dean Winchester guy.” she said. “Funny how that works.”
“Dean says he has a plan for how to get out of that, but I have no idea what it is.” Sam shrugged. “Again, it was nice seeing you. Take care.”
“You too.” She says. She gives Jess a hug, and Sam a wave. “I’ll email you soon. See ya.”
They both wave and Sam catches the tail end of a conversation Dean was having on the phone. “Cas, I’m fine. The shifter barely even got me. It’s more of a graze then anything.”
Cas, there’s that name again. Who is this person?
“Fine if it makes you feel any better, you can help me with it when you visit.” A moment before Dean catches them walking up, and says, “Call you later, Sam and Jess are here.” He flipped the phone shut and Sam and Jess get into the car. Claire is up front again, so Sam is relegated to the backseat.
When they pull up to a motel that night, Sam has a long list of questions he wants to ask. He had the whole car ride to think about it, and he wants at least some answers. He’s able to get that chance when he tagged along with Dean to get the food.
“So, Dean.” Sam starts off.
Dean groaned and said, “Please tell me this isn’t a start to one of your feel good chick flick moments.”
“I just think we need to talk about what the shifter said.” Sam defended himself. “He said a few things that got me thinking.”
“Great.” Dean said. “Just what I need. A long heart-filled talk.”
Sam ignored him, and continued on. “Did you ever want a life outside of hunting? Because I always thought you were content to hunt for the rest of your life. You never seemed opposed to the idea.”
Dean scowled. “Of course I wanted something for myself. But you think that was an option for me? To get out and have a nice apple pie life? Live in a suburban neighborhood with a white picket fence?”
“It could be.” Sam said. “If you tried.”
“I’m not you, Sam.” Dean said, annoyed. “It would have never worked out.”
“Why not?” Sam pressed him. “Why are you so against the normal life?”
“I’m not against it!” Dean said, glaring at him. “But I’m aware of what I am, what I had to be. Daddy’s blunt little instrument.” Dean spat out the last sentence like it burned him. It made Sam wonder how often those words were said to him. “I know my lot in life, and a normal life was never in the cards.”
“But now that you have Claire, don’t you want something better for her? Better than what we had?” Sam pressed him. “Don't you want a normal life for her?”
“She was possessed, Sam.” Dean said, clenching the steering wheel. “That isn’t something you can just get over, have a normal life with. She still gets nightmares from it, years later. I want what’s best for her, and I wish I could give her a normal life. But she carried around a mark of being affected by the supernatural. No one has a normal life after that, no matter how hard they try.”
Sam was shocked. It explained a little of why Claire trusted Dean so deeply, despite not knowing him for so long. Why they had that familial bond. “Fine. If you don’t think it’s right for her, then who am I to convince you otherwise. But once we find dad and kill that yellow-eyed demon? I’m done. I want out. And you should think about it too.”
“Maybe.” Dean said, looking out the windshield. He seemed lost in thought. That’s why his next question surprised Dean so much.
“Who is Cas?” Sam asked. “Some hunter chick?”
Dean laughed loudly. “No. Not some hunter…chick.” He gave Sam a questioning look. “Why are you asking about Cas anyway?"
“Well, Claire mentioned the name a while ago, and the shifter brought it up when I was captured. Not to mention, I heard you talking with them on the phone.”
Dean dragged a hand across his mouth in thought. “You heard that huh?”
“Yeah.”
“For now, no one you need to worry about.” Dean says. “Maybe one day I’ll introduce one another.”
“So you two are dating then.” Sam surmised. “That’s what the shifter said, anyway.”
“They what.” Came the flat response from Dean.
“The shifter. When he took your form. Said something about a relationship with a ‘Cas’.” Sam clarified. "Among other things."
“Right.” Dean said, starting the car again. “Let’s head back to the motel. I’ve lost my appetite.”
“Okay…?” Sam says, frowning. So what if Dean and this Cas girl were together? Sure it was a shock to see his brother be in a long term relationship, but he didn’t think it warranted this reaction.
They pulled back up to the motel, and Sam went to the room he shared with Jess. Dean stormed away to his room, and the door was shut firmly behind him. Sam walked into the room, and Jess and Claire were on the bed watching a show.
“Where’s the food?” Jess asked him, seeing nothing in his hand.
“Dean decided he didn’t want anything.” Sam said. “It was so weird. We were talking about stuff the shifter said when it had me, and it was fine until I asked about this ‘Cas’ person. He got all weird when I mentioned relationships, and he drove back.”
Claire let out a laugh and shook her head. Sam gave her a weird look. She rolled her eyes. “Best to stay out of it. He’s always weird about Cas.”
“You know who Cas is?” Sam asked.
“Duh.” Claire said, still looking at the tv.
“Well?” Sam asked her. “Who are they?”
“Some friend of dads.” Claire yawned. Sam could tell it was faked.
It made him want to get answers even more. What could be so bad that Dean had to hide, much less direct Claire to hide as well?
“I’m tired, I think I’m going to head to sleep. Night Jess. Sam.” She hopped off the bed, and headed to her room.
It was all so suspicious. And Sam was never one to turn away a mystery. Especially one involving his brother.
As the door closed behind her, both he and Jess shared a look, and she said, “Well, that was weird.”
Sam grabs Jess by the hand and says, “Come on, we’re going to get answers. Actual ones this time. No more dodging my questions.”
“And he was asking me all these questions!” Dean says, throwing his hands up in the air. It was brisk outside. He couldn’t stand being cooped up in the room, so he had gone outside to lean on Baby. “You know how I get with feelings.”
“Yes, I remember. “Chick flick territory” is what you like to refer to them as. ” Cas says. “So what exactly is the problem here? Sam is still unaware of my true identity.”
“The problem is that now he’s going to be looking at me all the time. Suspecting stuff, you know.” Dean said, looking down at the pavement. “Trying to talk about feelings.”
“If Sam didn’t already suspect something, I would have to question his intelligence.” Cas responds. “I find it hard to believe it’s only one thing that he suspects. If you remember Dean, you appeared with one more child than usual, which is a cause for speculation.”
“Yeah, well, whatever.” Dean says. “I guess I should just let you two meet huh.”
“If that’s what you believe is the best course of action.”
“I don’t know.” Dean says, sighing and moving the phone to his other hand. “It’s so much to go through in the past few years. I don't know if I want to rehash it all.” Dean sighed, running his fingers through his hair. "Can you...?" He couldn’t admit this was a conversation he wanted to have face to face, but Cas knew him well enough to understand what he hadn't said.
“Then don’t.” Cas says. “I’ll be there in a moment. Where are you?”
As soon as he finished saying where he was, Cas appeared by the Impala. Dean snapped the phone shut and shoved it in his pocket. “I don’t know what you want to do, Dean. But whatever it is, I think you need to make sure it’s the right choice for you.”
“I know, I know.” Dean says. “I guess I should tell Sam. If he has a problem with it, then we can just ditch him, and he can go back to Stanford.”
Cas says nothing but gives him a smile.
“Thanks.” Dean leans in to give him a kiss, and pulls away when he hears an “Ew!” from Claire.
He rolls his eyes and turns around to tell Claire to quit the theatrics. Only to find Sam and Jess standing stock still behind her a few paces away. He takes a shaky breath and says with all the bravado he can muster, “Well, this wasn’t exactly what I was imagining the introduction to be, but I guess I don’t have a choice, do I?”
“Sam, Jess, I want you to meet someone.” Dean says, jabbing a thumb at Cas. “This is Cas.”
“Hello.” Cas says, stepping forward, holding out a hand in greeting. “It’s nice to meet you both. Dean has told me so much about you.”
