Work Text:
Abomination goo is something truly otherworldly. Out of all the things on the Boiling Isles, it might be the most mind-boggling; It’s light enough to float as a balloon, yet strong enough to make full armor out of. It’s Solid enough to smash craters into brick-and-mortar buildings with ease but fluid enough to slip around a blade and be cast around like water. Fluid enough to flow like a rushing river, and yet sticky and viscous enough to be a gluey, syrupy mess, unlike anything humans could ever fathom. And that’s not even getting into what the stuff is made out of–abomination was a bit of an understatement.
Combining all of these factors leaves you with a substance that, for all its versatility, is a fucking nightmare to clean. It sticks, it flows, it grips onto you and it sometimes needs a chisel to break it away into brittle chunks that eventually squidge out into sticky puddles of their own. It would be harder to dream up a substance that was worse to clean--that didn’t catch fire or poison you.
And Luz was covered in it.
To make matters even more interesting, she had slipped. What had started as helping Amity in her workshop through what was going to be a rather day, at some point, turned into playing with all the fun abomination goo when Amity wasn’t paying attention. By the time the witch had actually noticed, her human was not only feeling rather small, but she was filthy , with goo all over her skin, clothes, and hair, with a beaming smile on her face to tie it all together.
Which meant it was bathtime for Luz.
“Bu’ I d’wanna takea bath!” the human nearly wails with an adorable lisp.
Amity shushes her quietly, guiding the other woman to the bathroom while doing her best to keep her from touching anything else as much as she could. “Well, you need one, baby. You’re a mess.”
“‘Wasn’t done playing!”
“You can play inside later, sweetheart, right now you need to get clean.”
Luz squirmed a bit, but ultimately Amity held her tight, setting her on her feet in the bathroom. She casts a spell circle, summoning a few small abominations to receive her girlfriend’s soiled clothes before turning to face Luz, who was already trying to push past her.
“D’wanna! ‘Wanna play more!”
“Luz,” Amity says, her voice a little more firm than usual. While it was true that the witch had an endless well of patience for her girlfriend no matter what, she knew when to put her foot down. She picked up quite a few things as she took care of Luz like this. Her human pouts and looks up at her, tears of frustration brewing at the corners of her eyes. “You can either take a shower or you can take a bath. You are getting cleaned up, and then you can play upstairs with something quiet.”
Puffing out her cheeks and jutting out her lip, the human makes a very pitiful pout. She stomps one of her feet, and Amity immediately cocks an eyebrow at her. There's a slight huff and a hint of red dusts Luz’s cheeks as she thinks better of throwing a tantrum.
She shyly twists one of her legs back and forth on the ball of her foot, eyes falling as she speaks, doing her best to overcome that heart-melting lisp she always gets when she gets this grumpy. “Y’promise I can play?”
The taller woman smiles and presses a very gentle kiss to the only patch of skin on Luz’s forehead that isn’t covered in abomination goop. “I promise sweetheart. We just can’t have you making a mess in the house, okay?”
The human sighs in defeat but grins a little sheepishly at the affection and kind gaze from her witch. “‘Kay…”
Amity grins and starts running the water, shutting the door to the bathroom behind them. The Boiling Isles, unlike the human realm, were much better at getting you warm water for baths when you needed it. Within a few seconds, it's the perfect temperature, and as it begins to fill the large tub, the witch opens up a side closet and reaches for a small basket in the back.
Quite a few things are nestled inside of the basket, namely some small bath toys–from both realms of course, including a rubber abomination that Luz grabs in a heartbeat–and various bubble soaps and shampoos, appropriately coven themed and scented with colorful designs on the front of each bottle.
“Wanna pick, baby?”
Luz nods and carefully points an abomination goo-stained finger to, of course, the bottle labeled “Abomination Sensation”. Amity just grins and giggles. The soap is set aside and Amity takes a bottle from her toolbelt, casting another spell circle. The abomination goo covering Luz’s skin floats away, flowing into a single orb of the mysterious substance before Amity guided it back into the bottle leaving behind only stains where it was. As much as this stuff was a nightmare to clean, a lot of the big cleanup work could usually be done by someone who was skilled with it–Amity certainly fit that definition to a T.
However, the goo still stuck in the human’s hair and clothing wouldn’t be able to come out so easily–not without possibly ruining the clothes or hurting Luz, so that was absolutely out of the question. After Amity poured in a bit of the bubble soap, it’s *almost* earthly scents filling the air, she looked over at Luz with a gentle smile.
“Need help getting out of your clothes, batata?”
With a smile that could outshine the sun, Luz shakes her head and begins to take off her clothes–even if she does so a bit clumsily, she insists she’s a big girl and Amity lets her handle it on her own. The clothes themselves get tossed into their laundry pile, and the witch helps her girlfriend step into and settle down in the bathtub. Bubbles already float along the surface of the water, the soap making enough for Luz to make shapes out of them while Amity lathers up a sponge and gets to work scrubbing her human down.
She starts with her hair, lathering the soap in as much as she can without it being too much, and making sure not to get any in Luz’s eyes. The human closes her eyes and hums, wiggling her fingers and smiling even wider. The witch’s large but delicate fingers work their way through tousled curls of dark brown hair, working out globs of thick abomination goop and massaging Luz’s scalp.
The human is basically melting under her touch, but she’s able to focus enough to bring Amity’s attention to her bubble sculpture.
“‘Mity, look!” she chirps, pointing to the figure that, quite impressively, looked a lot like King.
Amity huffs a laugh and smiles, “Wow!” The witch presses a kiss to the side of Luz’s head with a loud mmmmwah, and ruffles her sudsy hair. “My little one is so talented.”
Luz erupts in a fit of giggles, and quite mercifully the rest of her bath goes by rather uneventfully. Once she’s been dried and put into some clean pajamas–abomination themed of course–Amity offers her human a hand. She takes it and grins, the two walking out of the bathroom and Amity leading the way back into the living area of their home. She lets Luz sit down on the floor, opening up a cabinet hidden in the corner and pulling out what, for all intents and purposes, was a full-blown toybox.
Okay, it didn’t have a whole lot , but it had plenty for her Luz to be entertained and content while she saw the rest of this out. She plants a kiss on the human’s crown and ruffles her hair a little. “You can play while I make us dinner. Does that sound good?”
The human nods enthusiastically, babbling in excitement for a moment. It warmed Amity’s heart to no end, seeing her like this. Knowing the immense trust placed in her and the love Luz had for her that she was able to see and take care of her like this made every hardship worth it.
“Make sure you clean up when it’s time to eat, baby.”
“I will!” Luz chirped, the lisp she had earlier still hanging on. “‘Ove you!!”
“I love you too, batata. You were such a good helper today.”
Luz beams and Amity’s heart melts. For Luz? There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do.
