The crack in thunder had Prapai turning over from where he’d fallen asleep first. He did have a flight to catch in a few hours today whereas his beautiful husband was going to spend a much deserved self care day with his platonic soulmate and best friend Rain. The soft snores told him that his lover was behind him. Prapai turned over to face Sky. The two of them cuddled closer as Prapai slung his arm over Sky’s waist only to feel the warmth of a flat stomach beyond Sky’s back.
Prapai slowly lifted his head to find Rain sleeping away. It wasn’t uncommon really, he mused, for him to wake up with Rain in their bed. Sky and Rain being soulmates literally prevented them from not hanging out. They were just lucky that they were best friends and had partners that didn’t freak out on them. Speaking of partners, Prapai reached up with that same hand to grab his phone off the headboard ledge.
Carefully he dropped the brightness to find a missed call and a handful of texts from Phayu letting him know that Rain had wanted to sleep over to get their self care day started from the moment they wake up. It’d been a stressful day for their boys. He sent a text to Phayu so that he knew Rain was still safe. And he would make breakfast a little uncomplicated for them and have their favorite waffles sent. He sent a message to Namtan then tucked the phone back on the headboard. As he settled in, Rain finally twisted to snuggle Sky which had his boyfriend wiggling even closer reminding Prapai he needed to go back to sleep before he had to get up for his flight.
Sky woke to the smell of waffles and Rain’s slightly off singing as he was making Sky’s coffee. Phayu having rubbed off on him by showing him how to make it by press. Sky rubbed his face and tossed back the sheets. He reached blindly for his phone and was met with more just the coolness of his phone case. He turned on the lamp where Rain had left the drapes closed so Sky could get much needed rest. They’d worked so hard on their group project that this was a well deserved break.
“Brat.” Sky murmured about Rain as he read the note. The first of many he was going to find around the house. Rain was notorious for them. If he was honest it was one of the things that had them really bond well.
P.S.
Wash your up stinky face! Plant Daddy date after we eat.
Downstairs, Rain had already set the table and laid out all the food for them to eat when Sky joined him. He smiled happily at Sky.
“Sleep good?” Rain asked, sitting down.
Sky nodded, “Very good but I always do with you and P’Pai.” He felt his cheeks flush despite Rain knowing this. He took the seat across from Rain. “You?”
“Better if P’Phayu was here but still good. Are you excited about our date?” Rain waggled his eyebrows. He hoped that Sky would really like 0206 florist shop. He’d found the place when shopping with Ple and Sammy. He knew then that he’d take Sky there. The place was run by the nicest couple.
“Of course.” Sky rolled his eyes while smiling fondly before digging into their breakfast enjoying the quiet between them.
0206 was so homey with its glass front, resident cat, and so many flowers. Sky was in heaven like the plant daddy happy he is. He reached over for Rain’s hand which the sunny boy happily didn’t resist.
Rain allowed himself to just be guided around the store. He felt the happy warmth coming from his soul mark on his wrist. It’d started out as a sprout when they met, now he had a cluster of lovely sunflowers.
“You can get three if you want.” He offered as Sky stopped in front of a fuzzy plant that looked like the cross of a rose and a weed. “That’s pretty.”
“Yes, it is.” Sky commented in awe as he took in the vivid orange petals that were almost red. “This would be lovely.”
“Yep and it would be adorable in that big tea cup planter P’Tan got you for your birthday.” Rain encouraged Sky to get the flower and two more other types of flowers before they left. To make it even better he sent a picture or two to Prapai of Sky with his new green babies.
“Take a step back and put your airpods in.” Sky soothingly rubbed his friend's shoulder. They’d just come from the bookstore when Rain had seen this cosmetics boutique. He’d been wanting to do a special photoshoot for Phayu’s birthday, but didn’t want to just order the make up from anywhere no matter what the tiktokers said. When they’d stepped inside, Sky was sure it was every cosmetic enthusiast's dream but for Rain it was over stimulating. He could feel it in the clouds that wrapped around his thigh, the pink of irritation.
Rain did what Sky said but also closed his eyes to do the breathing techniques that Phayu had helped him learn. Once he was ready, Rain opened his eyes. He lowered the music to be able to hear Sky but kept it on. He smiled, taking Sky’s hand to lead him to the eye palettes. There were so many with neutrals, bright vivid colors, dark fallish ones; However, the bright vivid palate of blues caught his eye. He picked up that one before moving to the lip cases.
“I like this one. It goes good with your skin.” Sky commented on the neutral peachy pink with a hint of golden flecks. Subtle and really up Sky’s alley. Rain did agree and he put that one in his basket.
“I like this one for the messy lip picture.” Rain swatched the metallic blue liquid lipstick.
“Perhaps the bullet is better? That one is supposed to stick on your lips. I don’t think you want blue lips for several hours.” Sky giggled, grabbing the sample bullet version. It was darker, creamy and honestly made Sky think of a rainy dark night.
“That’s true. Let me grab the remover over there and we can go?” Rain beamed.
“Sure then let’s hit the cafe before home. I am ready for a nap before P’Pai and P’Phayu come back.” Sky nodded.
“Oh yes! Let them grab dinner.” Rain grinned toothily as Sky shook his head. Anyway to get out of cooking dinner.
“Fine but then you owe me a dinner of your mom’s cabbage burgers!” Sky called after his soulmate as Rain made a line across the store.
This time it was Sky that woke first. He was laying on his back on the couch with Rain using his stomach for a pillow. He’d thought before their nap that Phayu would get there first but the two of them came at the same time. He waved sleepily at them before gently rubbing his fingers through Rain’s mop of hair. “P’Phayu is here Rain.”
“Shhhh….” Rain sleepily slurred, raising his hand to press his fingertips to Sky’s chin instead of his lips.
Phayu huffed a laugh before coming over to help Sky be set free of his soulmate. “ Come on angel. ” He spoke softly in Korean as he rubbed his hand in a circle between Rain’s shoulder blades.
“Appa.” Rain stirred, head popped up like a bunny.
“Yes, I’m here. Come here. Let Sky up.” Phayu instructed and with the grace of newborn kitten Rain rolled then crawled into Phayu’s lap.
“Hi.”
“Hi.” Rain nuzzled Phayu’s nose as Sky got up to give his own lover a hug.
“P’Pai.” Sky greeted Prapai with a hug from behind as Prapai put down the take out for their dinner.
“I got us some barbecue and sides rom this place that Phayu knows.” Prapai informed him. “You and Rain want to clear the table while we plate dinner?”
“Sure, come on Rain.” Sky pressed a kiss to Prapai’s shoulder before heading for the table to clean it up.
“Coming!” Rain happily chirped after getting a kiss from Phayu to help him.
