But I’d be yours if you’d be mine

Summary:

An alternative progression of ‘and I fell heavy’ where instead of painfully slow burn our ladies come to each other quickly.

Notes:

When I first started to write ‘and I fell heavy’ I had two ideas in my head, the one I went with (painfully slow slow burn) and an alternative where things happen much more quickly. This is a snippet of the alternative that just wouldn’t leave me alone. Cassidy, Caroline and Lottie have the same personalities that they do in the original fic but miranda is much more fiery and Andy more confident.

You don’t need to have read ‘and I fell heavy’ in order for this to make sense

Work Text:

“You can see yourself out,”

Later, she wouldn’t be able to say what came over her, only that one moment Miranda was turning and walking away towards the back stairs and the next Andy had grabbed her wrist, spun the older woman to face her and she was kissing her. She felt Miranda stiffen and was about to pull away when the older woman’s fingers tangled almost painfully in her hair as she deepened the kiss with a bite at Andy’s bottom lip. Andy groaned as the other woman’s tongue licked into her mouth, her hands finding slender hips and guiding them back until Miranda’s back hit the kitchen island, then it was Miranda’s turn to moan, one of her hands trailing from Andy’s hair, down her spine to grip her waist.

‘Tell me to stop,” Andy said against the other woman’s cheek, kissing any skin she could reach as her hands stroked between Miranda’s hips and bra.

“Don’t,” it sounded more like a beg than she had expected from the older woman but it sent a bolt of arousal through her

“Oh thank god,” she growled against Miranda’s ear, relishing the shiver it sent through the other woman as she lifted her so she was sitting on the edge of the island and claimed her lips again. Miranda moaned, her legs wrapping around Andy’s hips and pulling her as close as she could between her thighs. Instead of thinking about what had come before and what might come after she focused on the feel of Miranda’s stiletto heels digging into the backs of her thighs, the counterpoint of gentle hands mapping every inch of torso that Miranda could reach and the feel of cold silk over the muscles of a strong back beneath her own hands. She relished the slight burn in her neck from having the older woman above her and the space it allowed her to explore as she moved away from Miranda’s mouth and over the other woman’s jaw and neck.

“Oh god,” Miranda groaned, her nails digging into Andy’s sides causing her to nip at her neck in response pulling another groan from the white haired woman who tipped her head back to give the brunette more space to explore.

“I’ve wanted,” Andy murmured against perfect skin “and wanted.” She was surprised when she felt her hair tugged roughly, Miranda pulling so they were eye to eye, the blue eyes were as dark as Andy had ever seen them, spots of pink colouring usually perfectly porcelain skin, she’d never seen anything so beautiful but it was the other woman’s words which completely stole her breath.

“I’ve always been yours.”

Miranda watched the wonder spread across Andreas face as her words hit their mark, she gentled her grip on the younger woman’s hair to cup her face and was about to pull her into another kiss when the sound of the front door had them springing apart.

“Charlotte Sachs don’t you move another step.” Andrea’s eyes widened at the admonishment from Cara and Miranda chuckled, sliding down from the counter and straightening her clothes, she could hear Charlotte protesting whatever punishment was being laid upon her and knew they would need to intervene quickly before it turned into a full blown meltdown. She gave the brunette one last look filled with promise before heading in the direction of the hall, hearing Andrea groan behind her before following. The sight that greeted them in the hallway was not what Miranda expected, Charlotte looked quite literally like she had been dragged through a hedge, the door still open showed patricia sitting on the top step looking absolutely drenched and it looked like Cassidy had mud in her hair, Caroline was the only one who didn’t look like she had been on some wild adventure.

“Caroline,” she began, “run up to the first floor bathroom and get some towels. Not the white ones,” she added as an afterthought, ignoring the chuckle of the brunette behind her, “Cara please take Patricia round the back and, do whatever it is you do,” she flicked her fingers at her housekeeper knowing that she would take no offence at the command and turned her attention to the children in front of her. “Clothes off, both of you and don’t step off the mat,”

“Manda mad?” Charlotte asked, her chin beginning to quiver but Andrea was faster getting to her daughter, kneeling on the floor in front of her and starting to help her out of her wet clothes.

“No monkey,” she murmured, accepting a towel from Caroline and starting to dry off the girls hair, “she’s just making sure that no one gets too cold and no one gets mud all through the house,”

“Promise,” Charlotte asked but she wasn’t looking at her mother, instead her big, brown eyes, were fixed on Miranda.

“I promise little love,” she said offering a smile that was reserved for her girls, “why don’t you go upstairs with your mummy and get warm while Caroline and I make everyone hot chocolate?”

Andy could hear the girls in the den half an hour later, Lottie clean and dry and clad in a set of fluffy pyjamas that Miranda just happened to have in her size.

“Hey Andy,” Caroline, looked up from the book she was reading when Lottie flopped down on the couch next to her, “mom said we should tell you to go down and help her with the drinks,”

“Well I’d better get a move on,” Andy chuckled, leaning over the back of the sofa to press a kiss to the top of Caroline’s head, “you’re really flying through that,” she said gesturing to the book in Caroline’s hand and making a mental note to order the next in the series for her later,

“It’s really great,” Caroline grinned, barely taking her eyes off the page in front of her, “thank you for introducing me.” Ruffling Cassidy's hair on her way out of the room she took the stairs down to the kitchen two at a time eager to steal another few moments alone with the older woman. Miranda’s back was to the door so Andy let her eyes rake over her as she approached, arms slipping deftly round her waist and lips pressing to her neck like they’d been doing it all of their lives. Without thinking the fingers of one hand fumbled with one of the buttons on the older woman’s shirt and twisted it open, her hand slipping through the gap she had made to smooth over the skin of the other woman’s belly, relishing in the groan her actions elicited as Miranda tipped her head back onto Andy’s shoulder and sighed.

“As much as I would love to continue with this,” she murmured, her hand moving to slide over Andy’s wrist where it disappeared into her shirt, “I would prefer to do so at a time when we won’t be interrupted,”

“But we will continue?” Andy asked against her cheek, she wanted to be sure, wanted to continue being brave but now she’d crossed this line with Miranda she was sure that she’d been ruined for anyone else.

“Andrea,” when she refocuses Miranda has turned in her arms and her hand cups her cheek, blue eyes showing only certainty “when I said I’ve always been yours I was not being hyperbolic.” The kiss that was pressed to her mouth was chaste but full of promise, “we will continue this, and if I have my way, we will continue to continue for the rest of our lives.”
