Work Text:
Danny walks out into the sun, blinking till his eyes adjusted to the bright light. His roommate, Brad, talking animatedly about where they needed to go next for their Orientation. His other dorm mates wander in a loose circle around them.
“No fucking way,” a loud, rather familiar voice, shouts over the din of the students.
Danny, as well as the rest of the student body hesitate to look towards the source of the shout.
His mouth drops open in surprise.
“You!” Wes Weston of all people stands in a small cleared space pointing at Danny.
“You!” Danny points back, mirroring Wes’s posture.
“Why are you here? You can’t be here!”
“Me?” Danny asks, incredulously. “Why can’t I be here? What are you doing here?!”
Wes sputters.
“Oh shit, both you twinks are here,” a new, also familiar voice chimes in.
Wes and Danny both turn, pointing at the newcomer.
Dash flinches, dropping to also point at them.
“You!” Wes and Danny say, eerily in sync.
“Me? What about me? Why are you dweebs here?” Dash counters.
“Investigative Journalism.” “Engineering.” Wes and Danny answer over each other.
Dash blinks.
Danny and Wes look at each other, the latter glaring.
Danny rolls his eyes, looking back at Dash, “You?”
“Business.”
“Liar,” Wes scoffs.
“Are we done with the pointing? Why are we pointing?” Dash says instead.
“Oh, did you join Kwan in Kinesiology?” Danny asks.
Dash’s ears turn pink.
Wes sputters, hand pointing at Danny shaking. “How did you know that?!”
“Uh,” Danny tracks the flailing finger, not moving, “It’s written all over his face.”
“Shut up, Fenterina!” Dash’s cheeks redden.
“See?” He turns back to Dash, “I thought we were done with the name calling.”
“You know what, I’m done with this,” Dash straightens. He pointedly turns to walk away from them. “You dweebs can keep doing whatever you were doing.”
“What! No! We only just started having fun again!” Danny whines, sidling up to throw an arm over Dash’s shoulder.
“Get off me,” Dash says, but doesn’t actually move to dislodge him.
“Hey wait a minute!” Wes cries.
The two turn to look back at him.
“Why did you both pick this school?!”
Danny and Dash exchange a look. Dash shrugs.
“Dumb luck,” Danny answers. “You might have a better chance of getting an answer out of Clocky.”
Wes pales at the implication. Swallowing, he shakes whatever fear he has out. “Fuck that noise, I’m not sharing a campus with you of all people.”
“Me?” Danny lets Dash go to put his hands to his chest dramatically. “What. Ever. Did I do to you?”
“Be the biggest troll in existence.”
“Pssh, you got nothing on what I do to the Eyeballs of Boring,” Danny waves the idea away. “But hey, if you do decide to change schools, it’s not too late to join Jazz in-”
“Nope!” Wes’s blush matches his hair. He turns heel and stalks off in the opposite direction.
Danny cackles.
“Does he know he’s going in the wrong- Wes, bud, that’s the wrong way!” Dash calls after him.
Wes lifts a hand, giving them the bird.
Danny cackles harder.
“What is wrong with you?” Dash asks rhetorically as Danny regains control of his laughter.
“Do you want the alphabetical list or the timeline?” Danny’s mirth twinkling in his eyes.
“Should we be concerned?” Brad asks from Danny’s elbow.
“Concerned?” Danny repeats.
Dash slaps a hand to the top of Danny’s head, forcing him to bend as Dash messes with his hair. “Nah, Danny is a menace to authority more than actual people.”
“Hey!”
“It’s true! Star still has the video of you defacing the Mayor’s house.”
Danny’s gaze drifts as a content smile warms his face, “Yeah, that was a fun time.”
“Or the time you blew up a government facility?”
“In my defense, they stole my super suit!”
“You don’t have a super suit!”
“And you would know that, wouldn’t you-”
“You can’t have a super suit with your wannabe magical girl lightshow!”
Danny guffaws. “I am not a wannabe magical girl!”
Dash arches an eyebrow at him.
“I am the Prettiest! Magical girl!”
