Work Text:
Sound has always been a quiet and reserved boy, mostly sitting by the sidelines and observing other children do what kids do. As a child, people commented that he kept to himself most of the time, some even considered him mature for someone so young.
Despite his self-isolation from his peers, Sound was brilliant and talented, a little bit on the competitive side based. He enjoyed reading books and writing lyrics and listening to music in his spare time. At five, he went to his audition. And because he started acting at such a young age, he doesn't have much time for socializing.
At his previous school, people only befriended him to become famous. Classmates would intentionally take candid videos and pictures of him during class without his permission, and tagging his fanbase accounts so that they can get an extra amp on their own followers. Even the school and teachers would use him to help them promote something.
It made him uncomfortable and at an awkward position. And when Sound confronted them, they would cuss at him and told him off, telling him he got fame to his head.
That all changed when he transferred schools.
At his new school, Sound had the hard luck of reuniting with his former rival Tinn. The perfect son of the school principal and the student body president. Thank god their rivalry had dissipated and they're respectfully cordial with each other.
Sound likes his new school, the students didn't bother him too much, the guys weren't suspiciously friendly with him and the girls were respectful of his privacy. It was when he met the Chinzilla crew that his luck really turned out, and of all places their first meet-up was at the school toilet.
These kids were just... dumb.
They were silly, loud, obnoxious, ignorant, brash, ill discipline... Sound could use a million more adjectives about how uncouth they were. And these dumb kids had the audacity to ask him to join their silly band as he was peeing.
Despite this, Sound had taken a liking to them. That was a first. They were regular kids and treated him like he was just like them.
No special treatment.
He liked that.
Sound bonded with Gun, Por, Phat, Yo. Even their weirdo senior Yak that just wouldn't leave these high school kids alone.
But there's this one guy in the Chinzilla crew that Sound just couldn't bond with.
A boy with a permanent scrowl on his handsome face.
Sound doesn't know what attracted him to Win. He normally doesn't like boys like him. Sound knows a dime a dozen boys like him, they're the life of the group and will almost certainly have a huge circle of friends. Quite personally, Sound find these type of boys in need of deodorant. Everyone in school knows Win and he's quite popular with the boys and girls because he has the cool bad boy vibe around him.
Win was the complete opposite of Sound - loud, brash, and had a really bad temper. He was lazy, narrow-minded, choosing only the easy way out instead of working hard. It frustrated Sound even describing him.
Despite an extroverted personality, something Sound always felt uncomfortable around and he always found himself inexplicably drawn to Win.
It started with a passing glance during class, Sound caught Win who was seated a few tables away from him with his head on the table and his eyes drawn close. Sound admired how handsome he looked with his bangs framing his face, and that permanent frown still etched on his lips even as he slept. he looked so cute asleep. He wished he could know what Win was dreaming of. Maybe eating a nonstop pork buffet. Win always mentioned he loved pork.
Just as he was starring, Win suddenly woke up and Sound quickly looked away.
"Was someone looking at me?" said Win in a rough voice, his head turning to Gun and Yo.
"No."
"Dunno, I felt like someone was looking at me," explained Win with a shrug and then continued his sleep during math lesson.
Sound could not help but feel a flutter in his stomach.
:):)
Over the next few weeks, Sound found himself gravitating towards Win more and more. He would make excuses to comment on Win's playing of the guitar, often earning him a quick scolding or yelling from Win. Whenever he walked past him in the hallways, Sound would make the effort to throw a disgusted look at Win, like an indirect comment on how he does not like his presence. Win would take the bait and immediately react, calling him out and often their voices would get raise in seconds.
Sound for his part, seemed to enjoy the attention. He liked that Win was always reactive to Sound.
One day, Sound worked up the nerve to strike up a friendly conversation with Win. No fights. No teasing. Just a friendly conversation. Luckily for him, that morning Gun had asked Sound to change seats with him so that he could seat closer to his not-so-secret-boyfriend. So now, Sound was seated beside Win.
"Psst, do you what the teacher is talking about?" whispered Sound,
Win furrowed his eyebrows at Sound, almost confused by what he was hearing.
"Are you talking to me?" asked Win, pointing to himself.
"I'm looking at you aren't I," said Sound in a harsh tone.
"Your eyes are huge like a bug, I don't know if you're even looking at me. You could be looking at the clock behind him," teased Win.
"Shut up! Where are we? I don't understand anything."
"Huh, why are you asking me? Aren't you the one who is suppose to know these things, Mister top-scorer-of-every-subject," teased Win.
Sound sighed in defeat. "This is going no where."
"Sound and Win, why do I hear both of you talking?" scolded the teacher.
"Sorry, teacher."
"Now, lets get back to the topic..."
Sound turned to Win and gave an apologetic pout. Win only returned with a snort. Sound felt slightly disappointed in himself, why does any interaction between him and him is so harsh. Even a simple conversation with Win ends up with them being scolded by the teacher.
But then Sound overheard Win muttering to Yo.
"He's giving me those eyes again."
