Work Text:
It's with the little things that reminds Sayo that their leader, the very talented vocalist of Roselia, is human too.
When she first met Yukina, she thought she was as cold as winter. Someone who wraps themselves in the thorns of a blue rose just like Sayo and perhaps that was why they got along quite well, better than anyone else that Sayo had met.
She was a diva, untouchable on the stage and so fully capable of stirring the hearts of anyone who listens to her that Sayo still vividly remembers the emotions she had felt that very day.
But that all changed when the weight of her mistakes, of her wrongdoings, became so unbearable it threatened to crush everything the vocalist held dear that Sayo realizes just how fragile Yukina Minato truly is. A girl full of insecurities, who carries herself with passion and determination for music because that's all she really has and nothing else. Like a silver blade glinting with so much sharpness, not knowing how to let other people close because she's become too used to being on her own.
It's easy to forget, Sayo thinks, how the silver haired girl is also just like them. It's because whenever Yukina stands on the stage, the world bows before her. Her voice washes away any sort of doubt because of how powerful it is.
But at the very least, it's not that hard to remember either.
Yukina is crouched by a corner next to a park bench, back faced against Sayo and the teal haired girl can't help but to approach the figure of her leader in pure silence, her presence erased because she does not want to surprise her leader.
The last time someone had caught Yukina by surprise, the girl had jumped like a cat, gold eyes blown wide open in shock and it took her a few seconds to whirr herself to work again. While the sight itself was funny, — it had caused Ako to laugh on her stomach so bad Sayo was ready to yank her back to her feet — it also proved to be a bit too dangerous as Yukina afterwards proceeded with their rehearsals in a snappy mood.
Sayo blinks, her steps faltering for a moment.
One of the three cats peeking over the brown box blinks back.
Oh.
It's easy to remember that Yukina Minato, the once Lone Wolf Songstress, is also human because just like right now, she's indulging herself by playing with stray cats that lives inside a tattered box while her school bag left open by the side and the plastic wrapping of cat food (without a doubt) peeking from it.
“...” Sayo shakes her head before she makes herself known to the vocalist, slowly closing the distance between the two.
“Minato-san.”
“S-Sayo.” Yukina jolts in surprise at the voice, her head whipping around so fast that she nearly falls backwards and would have landed on her butt if not for Sayo immediately coming to her support, a pair of firm hands coming to rest on both her shoulders. “A-Ah.”
“You should be careful.” Sayo sighs as she releases her hold on the vocalist.
Yukina quietly looks back, curiously as if trying to figure out why her guitarist is here, in the park of all places.
(Sayo does not want to tell her that sometimes, she walks by here too in hopes of running into a certain cat-loving individual so she lets her be.)
“Meow.” One of the cats mews.
Sayo thinks that sometimes, Yukina's gaze is that of a cat.
“Yes. My apologies.” She bows her head, clearly embarrassed to be seen in a situation like this. “I—”
“There's no need to explain yourself.” Sayo holds a hand up to silence the girl. “However, I am indeed concerned that you are alone. Is Imai-san not with you?”
A shake of her head is the other girl's response. “She was called by her manager to fill in because the one in charge today couldn't make it.”
“Understood.” Sayo says and without letting Yukina say another word, makes herself comfortable on the bench beside Yukina. “I'll look after you and walk you to the train station then.”
“Huh?” Yukina furrows her brows, confused as to why her guitarist was offering herself like this.
“The sun is about to set, Minato-san.” Sayo closes her eyes, lips set into a thin line. “It's dangerous to be unaccompanied.”
Yukina slowly nods her head, well aware that it's useless to try to go against the wishes of her guitarist. She can be stubborn too, just like she can be sometimes. “Thank you, Sayo.”
Sayo waves her off, “It's nothing.”
It's with the little things that reminds Sayo that their leader, the very talented vocalist of Roselia, is human. Her immeasurable love for cats and her troublesome tendency to carry no regard for her safety are just one of the many examples of why Yukina Minato is human too.
Sayo finds that she doesn't quite mind it.
And when she accompanies Yukina back to the train station, she doesn't make mention of the often times the backs of their hands had brushed against one another, or how their shoulders kept bumping together.
She doesn't make mention of the way Yukina looked at her as if she was hesitating to leave, to board the train and let the two of them part ways then and there. Neither does she make any mentions of how she did too, how she wished to instead ask her to come with her instead.
And whether there were any meanings in their exchanges before they parted ways — whether those “I hope to see you again tomorrow, Sayo.” “Take care on your way home, Minato-san” had something unspoken between the two of them — she doesn't make any mention of them either.
It's all up to Hina to figure out just what got her into a good mood when she returns back home.
“Something good happened?”
“Something like that.”
“It's not boppin' if you don't tell me, nee-san~”
Sayo simply gives an amused smile at her twin, a hand brushing against the back of the other, “Perhaps you should try harder to think with your head instead of trying to get it out of me then.”
“Mou, nee-san~! You're so mean!”
