Now, you may be asking why I'm 20 feet off the ground hanging onto Sunny’s window seal? Well, ever since me and Sunny started dating and we revealed it. Hero and Mari haven’t left us alone! It’s gotten to the point where Sunny thinks they're eavesdropping and telling eachother what they’ve heard.
Seriously! Anytime Sunny and I plan a date or plan to go out, something needs to be done. Like this one time I was going to chill with Sunny in the hideout, maybe dance. Then , all of a sudden, Hero pops his head in telling me “ Hey, Kel! I'm going to the store. Could you come along to help me carry the groceries?” And because I have the spine of a wet spaghetti noodle, I said yes and told Sunny what happened. Luckily he was super understanding and told me Mari needed help with something also. That's when we developed the conspiracy.
Sunny said we had to test it first, so I did a bit of snooping because Hero plans everything on his calendar. And when I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING. Mom says we’re going to the store? Calendar. He has plans to buy Mari some flowers? Calendar. He’s overheard something I said about a date? Mother. Fucking. Calendar. So Sunny and I did a little bit of planting, mentioned that we should go out and eat at Gino's, maybe come back to my place and play, and by play I mean play videogames Of Course! No need saying more words then needed when the other party already gets the point, Sunny understands that too! He even repeated back to me to really make sure Hero or Mari heard it, but only if they were eavesdropping.
I mean we were standing in a closet just to be sure that it wasn’t an accident if Mari heard. So after checking Hero’s calendar and sitting on a shoebox in the closet. We waited, then it happened. “ Hey Sunny?” “Hey Kel?” “ Could you come help me with this, it might take awhile?”. Let’s just say next time we had a conversation, I was standing behind a tree with Hero and Mari talking 40 feet away and it wasn’t nice things about those sneaky bastards.
After all this, me and Sunny needed some alone time. But it seems that whenever we are in the same room together or are planning a date. Those guys are watching! Which brings me Here, hanging off of Sunny’s ledge at 4 am, waiting for Sunny to open the window so we can climb down together, And Finally. FINALLY have some peace and quiet, ALONE. I mean I am notorious for taking walks SUPER early and Sunny for opening windows at night, So this is perfect!
Bap…. Bap
I look up to see Sunny lightly smacking my arm, like a cat that needs attention would do. He has a soft smile on his face when he signs “ You ready? ” Although Sunny does talk to us because he’s comfortable, we learned Sign so when Sunny doesn’t feel like speaking we can still converse. Oh Boy am I glad now, Mari is a light sleeper and if I spoke there is no doubt she would wake up. I nod my head and start to climb down, Sunny just waits rocking on his heels. Now down on the ground I give Sunny the all clear and he climbs on the window seal. He prepares to jump down then just steps off .
I scramble to catch him, holding my arms out when he lands in them with a thump. I position him Bride style, knowing better than to speak when this close to our houses. Doesn’t mean I don’t take notice of the catlike grin on his face.
Once a decent distance away I tease him” You really like to give me a heart attack.” he breaks out in roaring laughter. “Maybe” He tries to be sly but the effect is lost when the cat ear of his onesie flops into his face. I shake my head, flipping my matching dog onesies ear also into my face. We look at each other, faces blank. Sunny then says “ Well Hello fellow idiot, Seems like we both got into a predicament?” Completely deadpan. I chuckle and he smiles at me. It's very cute, especially because of the black cat onesie. Sunny’s face shifts to surprise "Oh! I forgot to thank you for buying these!" He tugs at the front of his pj's. I laugh " No need! My thanks is seeing you in them!" He blushes, it's very prominent and cute thanks to his pale skin. He turns his face away and tugs his hood down to cover his face." You're adorable in yours" He mumbles.
I almost dropped him, my brain having trouble processing. He flailed, wrapping his arms around me in order to not fall. His fake cat tail swings wildly. He was breathing heavily and stared at me, bewildered. "Dude!" I quickly fixed my grip on him so he could relax again. "Sorry Sorry! You just caught me off guard " He looked confused " How? I just told the truth" I flush" Sunnyyyyy, you can't say things like that" I whined. He giggles" aww why not?"
" Because It's embarrassing." He says" But that's what makes it fun" we're at the hideout entrance and I pause for a second.
"You are a cruel lover " He laughs " You don't mean that" "You're right I don't!" I spin with him in my arms and he screams in delight. When I stop I dip him down so he's still in my arms but I'm looking him dead in the eyes.
We're both breathless. Staring into his eyes The only thing I can feel is pure adoration. I will forever be grateful that I'm his lover because I'm certain that Sunny could have anyone if he wanted. Loving him is like being wrapped in the softest blanket ever while watching your favorite show. When I have him in my arms I know I could never let him go, for if I did? I think I would lose the positivity that carried me through my fight with Hero.
I see Sunny lean forward. I keep my eyes open and on his, feeling myself fall forward into them. I feel a press of lips on my nose, he leans back all smiles. I do the same to him, pulling back with the dopeyest smile. I sit Sunny down a flop down into the grass, he follows after me. We just lay there for a while, enjoying the presence of a lover. Someone to rely on, someone to tell your deepest secrets and your favorite hobbies. Someone who won’t make fun of you and always follows your boundaries. A person who you find adorable and always want to be with.
I keep looking at the stars. "Hey Sunny, have I ever told you that I adore you?" He moves his hand over mine, not holding it, just sitting it there." Only about a hundred times darling" I can tell he's smiling from his tone" Only 100?!" I pretend to act surprised. " Well I guess I have to step up my game!" He laughs and it sounds like wind chimes " I guess you do Kel" I love the way he says my name, like there's a H after the K. It sounds sweet and like he's whispering it, like it's a secret just for us. Everyone else says it with a rough K like its awkward for them.
"Did you put it here?" I ask Sunny. He pushes himself up and dusts himself off. He responds as he walks to the bushes. "Of course, who do you take me for? Hero?" I laugh at that. Hero tends to forget things he needs to bring but not where he needs to go, so it's strange that he writes that down on his calendar and not what he needs to bring. Sunny pulls a plastic sealed bag with our swim trunks and towels in it, after all it's quite warm tonight. He tears it open and tosses my mine while he steps behind a tree to change quickly. I do the same, folding my onesie the nice way Mari showed me and Sunny how to. "Hey Kel, are you done yet?" Sunny's voice comes from the tree. "Yep! Come on out!"
Sunny steps out shyly, he looks positively adorable in his cat covered trunks and black shirt with dinosaur on it. It's not like I don't have my own dubbed "swim shirt" . It's light blue with a bouquet of sunflowers on it and my trunks have dog paw prints all over it. I was going to compliment him but he beat me to it. "Darling, you look amazing, " He says breathlessly." Aww, you look adorable sunshine " I coo. He holds his hand out to me blushing " Well lets go" I grab his hand and start running, him following.
Hearing the grass shift under my feet, Sunny's breathing, and the thump of planks from the docks as we leap off, it's-it's magical. We plunge into the lake, water surprisingly warm. I felt our legs tangled underwater, his free hand coming to grip my shirt as I grab his. I pull us up, breathing deep. He uses my arm to pull himself forward and rest his head on my shoulder. I rest mine on his head, our legs kicking underneath us, keeping us afloat. He gives me a soft kiss on the lips which I reciprocate before he rests again.
We continue to mess around in the water until Sunny gets too breathless to continue. I swim ahead and reach the dock. I turn to ask Sunny how I did when I don’t see him. I get on my knees to get a closer look at the water when he pops up. "Hello again friend!" I scream and scramble away hearing him laughing. I place my hand on my chest, feeling my heart rush. "Sorry Sorry, I just had to. Sorry" He appears above me, leaning over me at a 90 degree angle with his hands behind his back.
"Dude you gave me a heart attack" He laughs " Sorry love, lets call it revenge for earlier. Eh." He says, moving to check his phone." You know, I get the feeling that you're not really sorry" I say jokingly "Shit" He says looking at his phone. " What? Realize the errors of your ways" He shakes his head showing me his phone, or more specifically, Mari’s texts. And the 43 missed calls…… yeah we're dead.
".....Shit" He nods his head gravelly " Shit indeed" I take his phone to get a closer look, while he rushes around to get everything packed up.
Sunny, where are you?
Sunny?
Hey I just checked the house and I couldn't find you. Where are you?
I'm going to ask Hero if you're at his house.

Apparently Kel's ignoring Hero.
The punishment will be less if you get home, I won't even tell mom or dad!

"Welp we're done" Sunny says, taking his phone and sealing it in a smaller plastic bag with mine separate from the large one with our wet clothes and towels in it. The closing it all the way. An idea struck me. I sat up quickly " Sunshine , we're already in trouble right?" He nods confused " So why don't we make it worthwhile " a devilish grin creeps across his face. "I mean it’s their fault for us even being out here in the first place so why not make them suffer?" He cackles leaning directly in my face." Kel, you're a genius. I know exactly what to do" He grabs my arm pulling me up." Come on! Come on!" He tugs me away.
Which brings me here. In a tree next to the entrance, just covered so you can't see the branches but you can see the entrance. I was daydreaming when.
Pap,Pap,Pap,Pap,Pap
Sunny starts lightly hitting my arm. I turned to him, signing "What?" He points to Hero and Mari entering, he makes a silent gesture with his hands then leans forward to listen in.
"I swear, they better not be doing it" Mari grumbles.
"God I hope not. I mean that would be a bit awkward because we had our first here too" Hero says awkwardly while Mari looks away blushing.
" What are they talking about? What's "it " " Sunny signs to me head tilted. " I don't know, you think they mean first kiss?" Sunny shrugs " I think so, we didn’t tell them where we had our first kiss or that we had one. And that's the only first I can think of" I nod then ask" can we climb down now?" He nods yes. After climbing down, we walk towards the front of the park. " If they see us, we split up and meet at the plaza after losing them. Next to where that guy plays his guitar, okay?" I tell Sunny, he gives me a thumbs up. We start to walk down the street, our socked feet pattering. I feel my fake tail attached to my onesie hit the back of my leg as we walk. Turning to look at Sunny I am hit with the sight of pure adorableness.
Sunny with his hood up and ears flopping everywhere. You can barely tell apart his hair and hood, pale skin shining in the moonlight. He looks soft, like a kitten which is very funny. I tapped him on the shoulder, he turned to look at me. I leaned down to give him a kiss on the forehead-
"THERE THEY ARE!" Mari yells pointing at us. "SCATTER!!" Sunny screams and takes off. "GET BACK HERE SUNNY SUZUKI!!!" Mari immediately speeds off after him, He keeps running, not even turning to say "NEVER!". I look at Hero, he's walking towards me like you would a scared animal."Kel" He says slowly holding his hands up. I step backwards keeping my eyes on him. "No, don’t you dare" I move back a few more steps." Kelllll-KEL NO" I turn on my heel and run, hearing Hero chase after me. You'd think I'd have the advantage of being athletically gifted and I do! But Hero has one thing I don't at the moment, shoes.
He corners me in an alley, although he is very winded. "You have nowhere left to run, just give up" He says while trying to catch his breath. I decide to take a page out of Sunny’s book then use my own notes, by that I mean taunting then athletics. "You fool! You complete buffoon! You haven't won yet!" He looks up, having had his hands on his knees previously" Kel how can you possibly escape this?" He says with a raised eyebrow. " Like this" I start sprinting full speed at him, he crouches like a goalie trying to catch me. I brace my hand on his back, shoving him down and hopping over him. I had to learn to jump and dunk somehow and if parkour so happened to be apart of that, so be it! I hit the ground running, knowing it will take awhile for Hero to get up. He's weak like that.

Hero, laying on the ground regretting all his life choices, hears Mari calling and answers. "Please tell me you got Kel" Mari pleads" No! Mari-Mari listen. He fucking jumped over me."
"...No way" You can hear Mari’s disbelief over the phone." Yes way! He put his hand on my back and hopped over me like a demented spider-man!"Hero sighs " I'm guessing you didn't catch Sunny" There's a pause" I chased him back to the hideout and He parkoured across trees until I couldn't see him anymore like he does during tag." And Mari laughs like she couldn't believe what was happening and honestly? Neither can Hero. "And wanna know the best part? He was limping so they definitely did it" You can hear Hero and Mari's twin groans of defeat for miles. Too bad they got is wrong.

"Sunshine!" I shout to him" Darling!" He screams back. He runs to me, crashing into my arms. I spin trying to keep balance while his legs are swung out behind him like he's flying because of momentum. And god did it feel good to have him in my arms again. I fall on my butt and he wraps his legs around my waist. We're both laughing and breathless and I can't help but pepper his face in kisses. He's laughing and shoving me away" Kel Kel enough." I laugh too" How can I when I never want you to leave my arms again?" He rests his head on my chest and I hold him tighter." I don't want to go home" Sunny says muffled into my chest" Me nether " I sigh then hits me. I say slyly " But what if we don't have to?" Sunny makes a noise of confusion, Which adorable. "How long do you think can make it?" Sunny looks up at me with doe eyes from my chest, his look totally didn't match his response. "How far do you think we take it?" We brainstorm ideas because sitting in an empty plaza won't cut it despite how comfortable the still sun warmed concrete is, which doesn't make sense. It's 5:40 am but then again it's pretty warm tonight.
Since I refused to put Sunny down. I am leaping over locked fences and walking through yards with him in my arms to get to the tree house. I have no clue why all the fences in FarAway are so small, probably because they don't expect lovestruck teens in animal onesies to hop them. I soon reach Sunny's house thanks to….. *cough multiple peoples backyards* coughs in breaking and entering as Sunny said*...... Anyways I reached the final boss. Sunny tall ass fence. "...Sunny"
"Hmm?" Sunny says tiredly.
"Why is your fence so big?"
" I don't knowwww" He yawns" Apparently Dad wanted a big fence for privacy "
"Fuck your Dad" I say, what can I say? Sleep deprivation is not a good look. He laughs, and it feels like victory to feel his laugh run down my arm, to hear his wind chimes like laugh, to see his eyes light up, to be close enough to smell that honey body wash he's obsessed with, and I can almost taste the warmth that will come with snuggling in the treehouse.
With that I'm filled with determination and spite to get over this stupid fence. Then I come up with an absolutely idiotic idea. " Sunny, I'm about to do something really stupid. Could you wrap your legs around me and your arms around my neck too " " When don't you?" He quips but does what was asked. I take a deep breath and stretch until my hand is firmly gripped onto the top part of the fence. Thank God for tallness. I then place my foot onto the fence, nice and sturdy. I use my other hand to grip the fence also. I then place my other foot on the fence and slowly shuffle up it. I have never been more glad that my couch made me do both upper and lower body workouts. I then balanced myself when I got to the top, I placed my feet on the V shaped boards. Once balanced, I put my hands gripped back on the fence and moved my knees against the fence. My knees then get shifted until my feet are back on the fence then I shuffle my way down.
I sit Sunny down to give myself a break "No shot, that actually worked" Sunny said, amazed." You didn't think it would work" He gives me a look. "No, I didn’t expect my boyfriend to be Spiderman. I thought I would have to make a crap ton of noise opening the creaky ass gate." Okay fair. " You want to go up now" He sighs " Yesssss, I want to sleep." We climbed up to the tree house. Once there, we realize. IT'S SO HOT. For what reason? Probably because it's 6 am in the height of summer. We bring out some blankets and pillows to spread them on the floor so we have a layer of comfort. Realizing it's too damn hot to have these onesies on. I ask Sunny" Is it okay if I zip my onesie down to reveal my top? I have a tank top on." He nods" Could I do the same" I give a thumbs up and unzip it, using the sleeves to tie the bottom to keep it in place.
Sunny, wearing a black tank top, sits downs and pats the spot next to them. I, wearing an orange tank top, grab a thin blanket and cuddle him into me. Tossing the blanket over us, I ask Sunny. "Want me to be the big spoon?" He snuggled into my chest, not saying a word but the answer was clear. " Yes please " I wrap my arms around him, holding him close.
Sunny passed out immediately but I couldn't help but watch him sleep. Creepy, I know but I just need to remember the feeling. What feeling? Of holding him. I love having him in my arms, to hear him breathe remind me this is real. It doesn't feel real, but he told me it is and who am I to not trust Sunny? I crave the warmth he gives to me and all I want is to give the same warmth back. I adore Sunny, I want to protect him. He makes me feel safe and I want to do the same for him. God I just want to hold him close and pepper him with kisses. I want to read comics over his shoulder, I want him to lie in my lap while I run my fingers through his hair, I want to lean against him while we read together, I want to study with him, I want to spend my life with him and I hope he feels the same. I hold him tighter and rest my head on top of his, drifting off to the thought of a life with his lover.
"I swear to god!" We awake with a start, I rub my eyes and wrap my arm around the weight on my chest. Once my vision clears up, I see a pissed off Mari and a very disappointed Hero. " We know what you did, and we aren't happy" Sunny grumbles, blocking the sunlight by pushing his face into my chest. "I sure hope you know, you won’t leave us alone" Mari growls " Of course we don't leave you alone, the moment you snuck out you did it" She hissed out while Hero nodded in the background, crossing his arms. Both me and Sunny look at each other then at them. " It? You mean swim in the lake?" She laughs angrily " Don't play dumb with me, you know what you did you irresponsible brats." I speak, confused by this whole situation. Hero snuck out plenty of times." Listen we know we snuck out but we only did that because you two were eavesdropping and kept making us cancel our dates!" Hero gasped, trying to make it sound offended. It just sounded fake.
"We'd do no such things, how could you?" I give him an unimpressed look" You wrote on the first page of your calendar " Eavesdrop And Kel's Date " in purple thick marker." Mari rasies a eyebrow" Really Hero?" He sputters" I had to remember!"Mari turns her attention back on us.' 'Well maybe we did that. But we only did because we KNEW you would do the tango when alone, and you did!" Sunny looks very confused. What does she mean “Tango”? We didn’t dance this time. Clearly Sunny thought so too. " Tango? It? Could you just explain clearly, we clearly don't know what you're talking about." She rolls her eyes " Yeah, sure, what about that "Playtime" note then huh?" She pointed at us, looking like the cat that caught the canary.
" We were playing in the lake at a certain time? Playtime?"Both of us don’t understand how they don’t get this. What else could Playtime mean? Mari narrows her eyes at Sunny" Okay then what about your limp. HUH?" Mari looked as if she caught us red handed, for what? I don’t know. Me and Sunny are very confused about this whole situation. "I banged it on a fire hydrant when running from you. I thought you saw it?" Sunny drawls out, pointing out the obvious.Hero turns to look at us, about to say something. Hero pales looking at us. " Yeah,sure BUT-" "Mari -"" Hero hush" " Mari listen, They don’t know what IT is."
You may ask “ what is the “IT” they are referring to.” And for that I say, I don’t know. “Why do they keep implying something?” I don't know! “ What do they mean by tango?” I don’t know! “Why do they act like you two committed a crime?” I DON’T F*CKING KNOW!! They never explain anything. They just say stuff and assume we know when we very CLEARLY don’t. And don’t believe it when we tell them we don’t. They just chased us around town over a SMALL date and now act like we threw Mewo out the window!
She whips around at Hero " No way they don't know their 16!" He tells Mari, pointing towards us. "Look at their faces, they are totally confused." She looks at us and that snide look falls off her face as she also pales." Oh my god" Hero nods, grimacing" Yeah" Mari looks down at her hands" Oh my God, we're so Nasty " Hero pats her on the back. I cough awkwardly, because what else do you do when your siblings barge in, wake you and your boyfriend up, accuse you of something, realize they're wrong, THEN have a crisis? Truly asking because I don’t know. " Um, care to explain?" They turned to us quickly, maybe they finally remembered we were right here. "We are so sorry" Mari shouts, face flushed red. " We leave you alone to rest now, We're so sorry" Mari shakes her head, climbing down. " I'm so sorry, we’ll- we’ll leave you be. God We are so nasty" Hero climbs down after her. "Why’d we think that?" Mari’s muffled voice can be heard. "Maybe because we did it?" A muffled Hero responds.
I look at Sunny, warm sun spots on both of our skin. "What was that about?" Sunny shrugs, or as best of a shrug he can do being on my chest. "I dunno, weirdos''. His voice muffled " You're very comfy." I chuckle” I guess I am?” I lay one of my arms on his back. I can feel Sunny's smile before I see it. “You sure are, now quiet down. I need my pillow” I sigh, being dramatic.” Oh the anarchy, being demoted to a Pillow? The cruelty! How will I survive?” He wraps his arm around me, the other hand intertwining with mine. ”Hush you-” Giving me a quick kiss on the chin before getting comfortable” -and that's how you’ll survive. “ Heyyy, I guess this will suffice ” I say, feeling my eyes get heavy.” It better" He mutters. Before I could sleep, I quickly placed a kiss on the crown of his head. Sunny mumbles sleepily in response to the action “ Goodnight Darling” I mumble back, squeezing his hand then holding it loosely.” Goodnight Sunshine”.
