love letters

Summary:

There's something inherently romantic about writing letters to someone, hoping they'll fall in love with you. But what happens when the person responding to your letters is someone else entirely?

Sound finds himself tripping and falling, hoping someone will catch him. Gun wishes people would see him as more than an idol. Win doesn't know why he keeps responding to the fanmail. What if the fan ran into the manager of the idol he adores?

Notes:

Hello!

There are currently no content warnings for this fic, but I will update them in the following chapters in case there is anything graphic (although I doubt it).

I'll post the first three chapters now and upload a chapter every Monday thereafter!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: mirrorball

Chapter Text

The faces in the crowd surge as one dark mass when Gun steps onto the stage, a crescendo of screams drowning out his quivering heart. The signs and lights rise out of the crowd like a million little stars, illuminating the stadium as he starts to sing. He raises his arm, reaching for the moon hanging above the stage and smiles to himself. Even the stars would be eclipsed in his blazing halo.

He finds Win waiting for him in the dressing room, reading through a thin leather folio. ‘You’re behind schedule by twenty one minutes.’ He doesn’t look up. ‘I’ve rescheduled your fitting so you have more time before the party.’

‘Thanks,’ He croaks, sinking into the couch and tugging the glittering hairpins from his hair. Maybe he could ask Win to convince the company to cut his hair short for the next release.

As if he'd spoken out loud, Win sighs, running a hand through his hair. ‘I think I’ll leave you to go to the party on your own.’

Gun sits up. ‘No–’ He starts, but the door opens to reveal the makeup artists and designers waiting to prepare him for his next appointment.

His friend shrugs. ‘Phat will be there, you’ll be fine.’ He snaps the folio closed, dropping it in Gun’s lap before slipping out.

‘Win!’ He calls, but it’s lost over the bickering of his makeup artists standing over him. It was so uncharacteristic of Win to leave before the day’s commitments were over. He seemed to revel in following schedule to the final minute, meticulously curating his day.

Manager Phat enters as he smooths out the last of the wrinkles in his suit, snatching up the folio that Win had abandoned only minutes before. ‘Are you ready for the party, sir? Would you like me to brief you on the company’s investors?’

‘I think I’ll be fine.’ Gun settles on a look of professional indifference before walking out.
