Chapter Text
Days Seem Sometimes As If They'll Never End
Macaque eventually did start doing things again, but he felt like he was on auto pilot the whole time.
He helped Mk train or when there was a difficult demon to beat. But he was hardly conscious while doing it.
He was so tired.
Sun Drags Its Heals To Taunt You
So tired of everything.
But After Sunlight Days
He just wanted to rest.
One Thing Stays The Same
He hadn't expected that want to be fulfilled anytime soon.
Rises the Moon
But it would be sooner than he expected.
Days Fade Into A Watercolour Blur .
One day during a battle he made a dumb, obvious mistake. A mistake like this was uncharacteristic of him, it also ended up earning him a blade in his torso. The blood seeping from the wound cruelly reminded him of the sun burning out in his arms.
Memories Swim And Haunt You.
He looked down to see how much of his own blood had already pooled at his own feet, it felt familiar. At least he knew what was coming this time, he had time to process it before being pulled off this mortal plane by sweet death.
He felt dizzy.
But look into the lake, shimmering like smoke
He could see his own face in his blood, he already looked dead. He'd felt like he was too.
His knees eventually buckled, having lost all their strength.
It was happening.
Rises The Moon.
He heard his own heartbeat start to slow, his eyelids suddenly felt like the weighed the same as boulder, with every second he slipped further into the cold and dark embrace of nothing.
Oh-Oh, Close Your Weary Eyes
He heard someone call out to him, they sounded upset.
I Promise You That Soon The Autumn Darkens Fading Summer Skies,
Someone was shaking him by the shoulders, instructing him to stay awake.
He realised the person speaking to him was Mk.
Breathe, Breathe, Breathe.
He felt bad that Mk would be seeing one of his mentors die for the second time, but he didn't listen to his pleas.
Days Pull You Down Just Like a Sinking Ship.
He wanted this to happen, he realised.
Floating Is Getting Harder
It had been so hard to live, breathing made him want to vomit.
But Tread The Water Child,
He'd made that "mistake" on purpose.
And Know That Meanwhile
Could you blame him?
Rises the Moon
Macaque knew what he was, he always had.
Days Pull You Up Just Like A Daffodil
He was a coward. Nothing more nothing less.
Uprooted From Its Garden.
He was too cowardly to face a world without the person he loved in it.
They'll Tell You What You Owe,
But despite being a coward, Macaque was brave enough to say something to Mk before he lost the strength to speak, "I'm sorry kid, but I'm too tired." He said as clearly as he could.
But Know Even So, Rises The Moon.
He finally let his eyes close, and relaxed as much as he could before it was over.
You'll Be Visited By Sleep
He really would prefer if Mk weren't here to watch him slowly die.
I Promise You That Soon The Autumn Comes To Steal Away Each Dream You Keep
But he was grateful he wouldn't be alone when he died.
Eventually he breathed his last breath and eventually,
Liu Er Mihou was dead.
His dead body left to be yelled at by his and the Monkey King's former student.
Breathe, Breathe, Breathe
