Why are my Avatars Always So Treacherous

Summary:

**Spoilers for webtoon onlys***
Han Sooyoung was hanging out with Kim Dokja, she always was. But unlike usual by chance she has some rare 1 on 1 time. In an effort to extend this she creates some supposedly harmless clones or "Avatars" using her ability avatar. These are here solely to be numbers to justify a game of poker with Dokja and stretch their time together just a little further.
She quickly comes to regret this decision.
She doesn't have the best track record of having non-treacherous Avatars, a consequence of being very passionate, stubborn and eccentric.
They were unpredictable at the best of times
They are in a room with the person she feels strongest, with the only instructions being "spend time with him".
Whoops

Chapter Text

Why are all my Avatars always so treacherous??

Han Sooyoung was hanging out with Kim Dokja, which was not unusual at all but there was something special about tonight. The rest of the Kim Dokja Company were occupied with their own responsibilities and Han Sooyoung was thankful. She didn’t get to hang out with Kim Dokja alone all that often, but she really cherished the times she had. The time she spent with Kim Dokja in the dark castle scenario, where they took the opportunity with the others in Paradise to pursue their individual goals and obtain items, it was still some of the her favourite memories, despite what would unfold.

They were hanging out together, they spent a lot of time with one another but Kim Dokja liked to be in a crowd. His whole life prior to the scenarios he wasn’t confident that he deserved to live let alone be loved by others, unsurprisingly he lived his life alone. Now in a world where he could flourish he was happy to try and make up for a life of solitude.

However Han Sooyoung wanted to keep him to herself just a while longer and had an idea. “Hey, want to play some poker?”
“How can you play with two people?” Kim Dokja replied curiously
Han Sooyoung laughed and asked: “Have you forgotten my ability?”

Han Sooyoung’s ability was “Avatar”: the ability to create independent duplicates of herself at the temporary or permanent cost of memories, given that the transfer of memories is only permanent if they die she was perfectly ok with being lenient with her memories in making them for the game.

“I can make an army out of clones in a moment's notice, I will have no problem creating some players for our game.”

Han Sooyoung lazily created 3 avatars out of miscellaneous, “unimportant” memories. She thought that she was usually a lot more diligent but right now she didn’t really care. She did use her ability to slightly distinguish them however, changing the hair colour to of one red, one to white and the final one to gold, she told herself that it was for the sake of differentiating them in the game but she also knew that Dokja mistaking her clones for herself really frustrated her, but she certainly wasn't going to tell him that.

She gestured to herself and then her 3 copies and asked Dokja “is a five person game enough for you?”
“This is kind of weird, and wouldn’t they collaborate with you?”
“Damn what made you so suspicious”
Kim Dokja blankly stared at her: “You did miss Revelator”
She grinned, the one Dokja jokingly told made her look insane, a fact that made her happy whenever it came up she tried to emulate even subconsciously all the time now.
“You don’t need to worry, where’s the fun in that? I want to win but to win with weighted dies is no fun at all.and my clones are literally made in my image and my personality so they will have inherited this perspective with a few alterations give or take” “Not to mention why would I ever feel the need to cheat to beat you?”
Kim Dokja sighs, why he does this song and dance every she has no idea, but at this point she has gone through it so many times it’s flirting with being endearing.
“Can we finally start or has something else caught the eye of apparently the pickiest man in the world?”
“I will restrain myself” Kim Dokja replies dryly but through a smile
“Yay, took a while but we finally got to where we needed to be,... right where we started.” I deadpanned. “It really is no surprise you and you alone would read a 3149 chapter webnovel, you really don’t value your time”
“Some things are always worth your time, no matter how long it lasts” The smug bastard replies, a lot more earnestly than usual and openly praising her work.
Then out of nowhere the red-hair Han Sooyoung spoke up: “Oh my god, look at her she’s blushing, he did nothing except answer your question”
“W-”
“Who are you to talk, he may have READ it but you WROTE it” The white haired clone interrupted and proceeded to burst out laughing.

All her life Han Sooyoung had always been unceremonial, loud and just generally not very bothered with the expected social graces. Not out of lack of respect for the people she would interact with, she treated everybody the same in this regard, it was just the way she was. She could never fully understand those who complained about it, but here she was, after only a few minutes with her clones and she was already A LOT more sympathetic to these complaints then she could have ever possibly imagined herself being ever before.

The room was filled with laughter that was exactly the same as her own, which was disturbing in of itself, however there was something far far worse. The laughter was not alone, as the usually deadpanning, stone faced Dokja had the nerve to laugh.

Han Sooyoung took great pride in being one of the few people who could consistently get emotional responses out of the otherwise either serious or cocky Kim Dokja, especially in getting him to laugh. Granted that probably half these instances he was laughing at her, that still counted. Even though it was technically still her making him laugh, she was still feeling jealous
Han Sooyoung was confused, the game hadn’t even started and two out of her three clones were cracking jokes at her expense and the third, the third was paying attention to no expect Dokja.

That’s when the logical part of Han Sooyoung’s brain finally caught up the creative and passionate part of her brain. That creative and passionate part of Han Sooyoung’s brain, the part that sprinted far ahead of all other concerns. It did so with reckless abandon, without considering the consequences, and Han Sooyoung felt a cold sweat down her back, she really should have thought this through.
Her avatars have been treacherous in the past
She wasn’t paying attention to the memories she gave them
She did not give them explicit goals, trying to replicate as best she could real players of which she would have no control over them.

Since Han Sooyoung hadn’t given them any explicit directions, yet they were based on herself, and “fueled” by her memories… their goals would be her own, but for “themselves”. That was a problem, as she had just said, she wanted to win, but she was not referring to the proposed poker game, but winning a closer place in her love interest's heart………. And the clones would be inheriting that.

It was at this moment Han Sooyoung knew she messed up. What was she thinking when she made 3 copies of herself, and made them completely independent when they would be spending time with him.
