Chapter Text
The loud noise made Kayra jump out of her skin. Ece was the first one out of their friend group who got her driver’s license and her best skill was sounding the car horn. Annoyed, Kayra finished the last touches to her outfit before running out of her house.
“Oha, relax Ece. You woke up the whole apartment,” Kayra complained as she squished next to Eylül.
“I was only trying to wake you up. We thought you were going to ditch us for sleep.”
Rolling her eyes at Ece, Kayra turned to Eylüls and said, “Birthday girls, I can’t believe you’re both eighteen now. They really grow up too fast” with an overly dramatic voice.
“Welcome to the adult squad. You might be able to drive as well as me if you practice enough,” Ece added right when they went through a speed bump.
Clinging on the other Eylül for dear life, Eylül E. replied, “I’m good. I don’t think we’d want to drive like you.”
“Do you want me to try drifting? Maybe then you guys will appreciate my excellent driving skills,” Ece pretended to turn the steering wheel. Their screams quickly turned into laughter. Kayra zoned out, her friends’ voices quietening. She had a good feeling about today. This was their last night out before senior year. She felt happy, calm, and collected with everyone she loved around. She woke up from her daydream when the car suddenly came to a (the person behind them must be cursing them out) halt.
“Get out losers, we’re partying.”
Half an hour in, Eren and Emre were in a fierce shot competition, Duru was trying to remember where the bar was, Kayra and Elis were gossiping in the corner, all the other girls were on the dance floor, and Rana was still nowhere to be seen.
Two hours in, Eren and Emre had joined the girls on the dance floor, Duru and Ece had been in the bathroom for a concerning amount of time, and Rana (who was an hour late) was mindlessly staring at her phone in the corner.
“Why are you such a party pooper?” Kayra approached Rana.
“I’m not. I came, didn’t I?” her stern tone straightened up Kayra.
“Are you okay? I know this isn’t exactly your scene, but you could come join the rest of the group. Maybe you’ll start actually enjoying yourself.”
Rana sighed and forced a smile for her friend’s sake, “Okay, we need to stop those two before they get kidnapped.” Kayra turned over to see Duru and Eylül E. twerking in the middle of a huge crowd.
“Yeah, agreed.”
Sometime after (Kayra wasn’t sober enough to keep count anymore), Kayra found Ece in the crowd.
“Hey, baby girl. I thought you couldn’t dance.”
“I’m managing. How drunk are you?” Ece tried to steady her friend.
“As Emre once said, four and a half out of ten.”
“Yeah, if you say so. Hey, have you seen Rana?”
They both looked around, but Rana was out of sight.
“Maybe she got hungry and went to Burger King?” Kayra slurred. Paying her no mind, Ece spotted Rana at the bar, laughing along with some guy.
“Who the fuck is that?” Ece made a disgusted face.
“Umm, nope, I don’t know him. Hey, maybe Rana’s finally getting a fling. It’s about time,” Kayra continued dancing, disappearing into the crowd.
Ece had a bad feeling about this. She tried to get away from the crowd, wanting to know who was with Rana. She suddenly stopped. Rana looked really happy. It was the first time since the start of the party that Ece had seen Rana having fun. Not wanting to bother her, Ece turned around to find the rest of the group.

It was finally time to get home. Eren was carrying a wasted Duru, Emre had silently left a while ago (everyone was hoping he actually made it home), Eylül D.’s mom had picked her up, Ece and Elis were trying to push Kayra into the car, Eylül E. was last seen making out with some guy, and Rana was on her phone. The group (somehow) arrived at Eren’s house before they each passed out one after another. Ece ran into Rana in the bathroom.
“Hey, how was today? You made your debut as a party girl.”
“Hardly. It was fine I guess. The part where Emre fell onto Eren was pretty funny.”
“I’m sure Eren enjoyed it.” They giggled quietly.
“I saw you with someone today. Who’s the mystery guy?” Ece had her teasing on, but Rana turned pale.
“No one, he’s just some guy that came up to me. I thought you would be dancing instead of
spying on me.”
“Whoa, easy tiger. Why would I spy on you?” If there’s one thing Ece’s good at, it’s seeing through people’s bullshit. She came up with a plan instantly, “I mean what is there to spy on? You clearly told him to fuck off, right? Censoring the “fuck” of course…”
“Uh, yeah. That’s what I did.” Bullshit. But, Rana recovered quickly, “And would I ever use that word? No, too ayıp.”
Ece’s smile didn’t falter a bit, “I know, I know. That’s our Rana mommy. Good night.”
“Night.”
It took a whole fifteen minutes before Ece could get that conversation out of her head and go to sleep.
