Chapter Text
Tim Drake was skateboarding to class. It was risky, as the campus had banned the boards last year, but he was running late.
Staying in the dorms meant that he really had no excuse, but here he was anyways, the warning bell had already rung and he was nowhere near his classroom. Not that he really wanted to get to class. He hated school. It was boring.
From his left came a girl, walking quickly from the direction of the girls dorms. He didn't recognize her. She must be new.
"Hey!" he called out, hoping to introduce himself.
She turned in his direction and sent him a stunning smile. She waved as she responded, "Hi!" but then frowned at him.
"My name's Tim D-UGH-"
His introduction was cut short as he slammed into a lamppost, the wind getting completely knocked out of him. His head hit the post on his temple, and his arms and legs went out on either side of the pole, wrapping himself around it comically. His skateboard continued on without him down the sidewalk.
"Oh my gosh, are you okay?" she asked as she rushed up to him to help him up.
She held out her hand, but Tim was presently seeing three of them, and wasn't sure which was real. He grasped once and missed. Second time was the charm, as his hand met hers, and she helped him up.
"I've hit worse," he explained lamely as he ruffled his hair, and did an internal check. May or may not have a mild concussion.
His response didn't seem to ease her worry. "I think I should take you to the nurse."
"No, really, it's okay. I have a hard head."
She wrapped her arm around his waist when he wobbled a bit. "Yeah... okay." He would go to the nurse if it meant she tagged along like that.
"Anyways, I'm Tim Drake," he tried again.
She giggled. They had reached his board, and she flipped it up with her foot into her free hand. "Marinette. Are you usually so clumsy?"
"Nah, I just wanted to make an impact."
