Flashes, Curses, Nothing, Everything.

"KUZUHA!!"

Flashes of green slipped through the corners of his eyes.

Silence, Pain, Grieve.

All it took was that one slip of moment. As the body above him goes limp, everything collapsed. His stomach, his thoughts, his hearing, his heart, his whole world. Gone

The world seems to stop, as if they were rethinking their actions. Kanae can only grieve. Cursing the gods, the universe, fate, teachers, witches, magic, nature, everyone involved in this damn mess.

He held the lifeless body tight and he wept. His cry heard throughout the open field. His cry painful as he repeats the limp boy's name over and over and over again, as if it would bring back the life into his eyes. He cries, he screams, he curses.

Wandless magic.

In every tears he drops, he curses everyone. He curses the lands, the wands, the words, the wars, everything.

He hates how his grieve was the reason to end it all. he hates how he was used as pawn. He hates how it took him all his life, all his heart for the war to end.

With a sob, he picked his head up from Kuzuha's chest, only to be greeted by the now masterless wand. His head empty as he reached forward to grab for it.

A hand came into Kanae's vision and took the wand from him, "Akina... please.." Kanae begged. His voice rasp and weak as he weakly tries to grab for the wand.

"I can't let you do that Kanae-san." Akina's face is traced with tears, him watching the person he most looked up to so weak and fragile. He wasn't strong enough for it, so he backs away, along with Kuzuha's wand. At least this way he knows Kanae won't be able to do anything.

The thought was short-circuited when he feels one of his legs being held back. "Akina please! Kill me! i can't, i can't do this, kuzuha is.." Kanae sobbed, "please please please PLEASE!"

"Kanae-san ... i'm really sorry" Akina tried to hold back his tears, but it was no use. The Kanae in front of him is the Kanae filled to the brim with grieve even the gods pitied him, the Kanae that's been beaten so many times over and over again with zero remorse, the Kanae that lost all hope.

"Kanae-san, you had a promise with Kuzuha-san didn't you?" A tear filled sobbing Kaida tried to approach Kanae, "Please don't.... at least for Kuzuha.." Kaida couldn't even understand what he himself is trying to say, but he tries. So he embraced him, like his life depended on it. He knows it won't be enough to warm Kanae again, nothing will ever will.

No one won that war, not with all the grieving everyone felt.

The halls were quiet as they bid their last goodbyes to the lifeless body on the casket. The freezing air forcing their way inside as if to remind everyone how cold the body would be.

Kuzuha was laid inside the casket along with sheafs, wreaths, posies, whatever. His white hair seemingly blending in with the white of the crysanthemums flowers surrounding him along with his pale skin.

Comes Kanae's turn to part ways and say his farewells. Everyone eyed the brown haired boy with worry and pity. His movements were slow, back slouched. The corner of his eyes were red, his eyes just as lifeless as the boy in front of him. It has been only a couple of days, nobody is expecting the boy to stop grieving.

As Kanae stepped in front of the casket, he could feel his heart clenches once again as Kuzuha's body came into view. He still looked as chaotically graceful as he was when he was still alive. He kind of missed the boy's loud dumb incoherent chatters, even more now that he won't be able to hear it anymore. Kuzuha would scream at him for not smiling at his funeral if he could.

Kanae smiled at the thought, even though he could feel his eyes producing more tears. He poked Kuzuha's arms with a small hope that the boy would answer him back as chaotic as usual. "Hey Kuzuha," Kanae starts with a raspy voice, he held the boys hand softly as he controls his breathing. "I fullfilled my promise you know."

Tears finally dropped as he struggles to keep smiling. "You're kind of cruel for making me do this today Kuchan" Kanae knew that was the worst fake whine he has ever done, but he likes to think it'll give Kuzuha something to tease him with.

He loosens his hold from Kuzuha's cold hands as he finishes. "Thanks for the present." Kanae slowly steps backwards and left. He kept walking until he was out of the room. He kept walking as he knows where he wants to be. Everyone watches as he got out of the room. They understand. They had to. Grieve is hard when your loved one is brutally killed.

They checked the casket as they prepared for Kuzuha's burial moments later. Everything had been perfect as it was. Flowers, Kuzuha's beloved belongings, even more flowers, wan- no.

Akina looked visibily frightened as he realized. He really should've paid attention. He should've noticed something was weird since the moment Kanae stepped into the room. He turned to go find Ibrahim, panicking.

"Ibrahim!" Akina looked more panicked as seconds go by that he's not searching for Kanae. "Kuzuha's wand!" Ibrahim immediately understood what the younger boy is trying to imply. Akina was crying, his mind was jumbled, he could see the rest of the room stood up in wary.

Right next to Kuzuha, was a soft white space. Fully clean as if nothing was supposed to be there. As if the very thing that was forbidden to Kanae was never there. His wand, gone.

Everyone was in full panic as they searched the whole building for the brown haired boy. Everyone splitted up to find him faster. The events from the war was fresh in their minds. Akina kept running as he wept tears from his eyes. He couldn't think clearly. He doesn't know where his feet was taking him. The sooner he sees Kanae the better it would be. Kanae. Kanae. Kanae!

He only thought about Kanae as his feet moved on it's own. He turned left, took 3 flight of stairs, went into the opposite side of the buillding all in under 1 minute. When he realizes at which part of the building he was, it hit him like a sack of bricks.

As the familiar door came into view, he hopes hard that he was wrong. he hopes that his theory was wrong. Kanae was fine. He just saw him not 20 minutes ago.

The hope came crashing down as soon as he sees Kamito, the poor boy, on his knees in front of the door. He knew the answer right away. He couldn't control his tears as he slowly approaches Kamito. It hurts. He didn't want to see. His feet felt heavy as he steps in front of Kamito.

There sat Kanae. Gracefully sat in the middle of the room. The same room where he sat and hang out with Kuzuha every evening. The same room where they quitely celebrated their birthdays, just the both of them. He looked as if he was sleeping, that he could wake up any time soon.

Of course not. Akina knew he wasn't gonna wake up by the way Kuzuha's wand was on the floor near his right hand. He knew he wasn't gonna wake up by the way Kanae was clutching a necklace and a picture of him and Kuzuha on his other hand. He knew Kanae wasn't gonna wake up by the streaks of green decorating the room.

The same green that killed Kuzuha.

Akina was frozen as he stared and stared, tears welled up in his eyes dropped freely. He sobbed as he approached Kanae. The Kanae who was in the middle of the room, with a smile.

Akina dropped to his knees near the lifeless boy. He cried and cried and cried. The same way he did when he realized Kuzuha was gone.

He could feel a hand on his head, stroking it softly. "It's okay," Ibrahim's soft voice echoed through the room "He's happy." Akina's tears welled up again as he processed the words. He sobbed as he reached out to a note left beside a red jewelry box. Any words from Kanae or Kuzuha, he'd take anything to fill the void at this point.

As he reads the contents, he feels more and more tears welled up. Until he reached the bottom part of the note. He felt a sudden dread. "Ibu.." he starts slowly, scared that he would be right once again. "What's today's date?" "it's July..." Akina didn't let him finish. He knew the answer. He hated the fact that he was right.

"It's Kanae's birthday"
