Work Text:

With the rising Sun emitting gentle hues across the sky and the birds chirping and singing, it could only mean one thing.

It was morning - a new day has come.

Most of the streets seemed quite empty, a car here and there passing by, but that was about it. Last night, rain was pouring so, there were still some water puddles left on the hard cement. They could very easily be seen and well, that's exactly what Zyanya was doing. The woman gazed through the balcony, looking around and allowing herself to breathe in some fresh air.

Usually, it is Lingying who wakes up first - in fact, out of all the Valorant Protocol agents, she probably wakes up the earliest. Well.. except for Kirra, but that's to be expected from someone who grew up on a farm, isn't it? Either way, Zyanya's musing was interrupted by the sound of the water boiling, echoing from the kitchen.

The woman rushes to the cooker and prepares coffee both for Ling and herself. She pours the hot, see-through liquid into their mugs which were very colorfully decorated. Blindly reaching for the sugar and the coffee powder itself through the cupboard, her hands finally made their way to the items she had been searching for. After making their 'breakfast', Zyanya headed back towards the bedroom, only to be met with a still drowsy, half-asleep Ling. Just by the expression on her face and general body language, Zyanya could tell her colleague - no, better said, her lover wasn't awake for that long. Probably only a couple of minutes by now.

"Oh, rise and shine."

In response, the other woman groaned and stretched her limbs before letting a sigh slip out her lips. Lingying yawns, covering her mouth, and sits up, blankly staring at the female before her - almost as if she has never seen her before.

"Good morning Zyanya. How come are you up so early? Did you perhaps have some trouble sleeping?"
During their everyday lives, their missions together, anything really - Lingying worried.
It didn't matter if that day she was 'Sage' or just her regular, monk self.

In a way, this was both endearing and annoying, it all just depended on the situation. Zyanya liked to be cared for and loved by her, it felt like heaven on Earth with her. However, other times, it was simply unnecessary and redundant.

"No." Zyanya scrunched her nose up while answering, setting their drinks aside on the nightstand. She took a seat next to Lingying. "You just.. slept a little longer than usual."

Obviously, the monk could tell she was joking. Paying no mind to her snarky comment, Ling leans into the other woman, embracing her and letting herself feel her warmth. To that, Reyna smiled, hooking her arms around her. She ran her fingers through her dark, jet-black hair. She was so used to seeing it tied up in a high-up ponytail, although the longer she spent time with her, the more it became the norm to see her like this. Besides, when Ling had her hair down, it was easier to wrap the strands of it around her fingers.

"I made you coffee."

"Thank you, I appreciate it." The woman responds, sitting back up to face Zyanya. She extends her hand to her face, feeling up her warm cheeks. Using her thumb, she caresses them gently and leaned into her face.

Right away, Zyanya knew what Sage wanted and who was she to decline? After all, it's not like she minded things like these. Without any further hesitation, she presses her lips against Sage's, feeling her arms roam down to her tattooed arms.

Breaking both the silence and the kiss, Reyna finally spoke up.

"Did you sleep well, though?" She asks, wetting her lips with her tongue. Zyanya reached out to brush Ling's bangs to the side, simply to be able to see her pretty, umber brown eyes better.

"With you, of course, I did." A warm smile showed on Lingying's face showed up as she spoke. Zyanya handed her the coffee, which was still fairly warm. At least it wasn't so hot you could burn your tongue on it anymore.

"I'm happy to hear that, love." She speaks in a sweet tone - it was like they were coated with nothing but honey.

Before saying anything else, Lingying took a couple of sips, her gaze shifting to the window for a split moment.

Now that some time has passed, more people have started to leave their houses and apartments - most likely to attend their jobs and such.
Maybe sometime later, the two could also take a nice, short stroll around the town. Well, unless it rains again. Bringing an umbrella is always an option, though!

Shortly afterward, Ling's eyes returned to the female in front of her, who was, by now also drinking from her mug. Unlike Sage, it didn't take her that long to drink all of the beverage.
"Hey, you don't have to rush anywhere, do you?"

"No. I agreed to see Mateo some other day for practice. Why?"

"I was thinking we could go for a walk," Ling suggested and Zyanya frowned at her partner a little.
"Oh, during that kind of weather? Yea, we might as well." She needed to tone down the sass. Lingying was tempted to roll her eyes at her. However, she suppressed the urge and once again, let her be.

"Hey, it might be nicer later on. Besides, the sunshine always comes after the rain, right?"

Zyanya shrugged while the monk retrieved the mug back to the wooden piece of furniture. She snuggled up to Reyna once more, sighing but this time, it was in content. She was happy to be able every morning like this with her and she wouldn't have it any other way, in the end.

With their bodies clashing together, so close together, Zyanya felt her heart race. It was like this every time she saw Sage, she just never failed to amaze her - no matter what it was and no matter how simple.
"Maybe you're right."

Lingying hid her face into Zyanya's chest, her breathing returning to a more peaceful state. It's like she was about fall back asleep on Zyanya. Speaking of whom, set her cup aside as well, simply to snuggle up with the other woman a little more.

Lingying always said even the simplest, littlest things mattered. She would always keep that in mind, it was like it replayed in her mind all the time. Zyanya's mind most likely resembled a broken record, at this point.
Despite it all, no matter what circumstance, Zyanya often made sure there was moments like these, no matter how tiny and short-lived, they would always get to enjoy eachother's presence.

It was moments like those - including this one, both of them fell in love with eachother a little bit more. Even with Zyanya's pessimistic view on the world and with her hatred, she still adored Lingying.
There wasn't anyone she held to dearly to herself, well, except of course, her little sister.

"You going back to sleep, beautiful?" She cooed at Ling, who only shook her head as a reply.
The two women's eyes met once again when Sage cocked her head up - leaning into Zyanya's face.

They kissed, except this time the kiss wasn't so brief, it was much more passionate. However, that didn't mean it had no end. Eventually, Lingying pulled away to catch her breath, her chest rising and falling as she inhaled and exhaled.

Without any other words, the female got up, rushing off to the bathroom. It took Zyanya a few minutes to follow, considering she still hasn't finished her coffee.

By the time she was done and trailed off to the bathroom, Lingying was already brushing her teeth.

"So, about that stroll you mentioned.." Zyanya began.
