Work Text:
He didn't think the room was so cold, especially with the lanterns giving off warm colored light. It was morning, but on that underground floor it didn't matter what time it was, it was always night.
Roier took a step forward, finding Cellbit at the computer, a scene that seemed so commonplace these days.
“Hey, gatinho.” He started to speak, a little uncertainly.
Cellbit immediately took his eyes off the screens, looking towards the newcomer and grinning. However, his smile gradually disappeared and only a tired face marked by dark circles remained.
“Hello, guapito.” He struggled to say, his voice almost breaking. “What...”
“I brought Bobby,” Roier answered before the blue eyed boy even asked. He wanted to sound positive so he flashed a gentle smile, but seeing Cellbit in that state hurt his heart. “We were thinking of going camping; him, me, you and Richarlyson. It would be a good idea to, you know, breathe fresh air, get in touch with nature.”
“I don't think I can.” It was the only thing he said and Roier felt his shoulders slump.
“Gatinho, it's going to be two weeks...”
“I-I need to finish this here. I... I'm almost there.” Cellbit had a nervous tone, an agonizing kind of anxiety, the same anxiety that had kept him awake for the past two days. “I need to know where that bastard took him. I c-can't give up on him now.”
“G-gatinho,” Roier began to feel his breath hitch. He closed his eyes and paused, trying to control the feeling stuck in his throat. “Y-you... You need to leave this office, please. You need to eat something decent, interact with other people, sleep...”
“I can't!” Cellbit came out from behind the desk, approaching the bulletin board and pointing at a frantic pace. “I'm almost there! I-I just need some more information! Just a few more... I can find out where that bastard took Felps, I can, I swear.”
“Gatinho, we're not doubting that.” Roier took a step forward, trying to somehow comfort the oldest. “If anyone can do it, it's you, but...”
“I'm fine.” Cellbit took Roier's hands for himself, and the youngest quickly noticed how the blue-eyed boy's hands were shaking. “I'm fine.” Cellbit's voice was unsteady, almost frightening; almost, if it weren't for the teary eyes and teary tone. “I want to fix this... I need to fix this.”
“It's not your fault.” Roier tried to say, but the other boy just shook his head in denial, letting go of their clasped hands and remaining silent.
“I need to work.”
“Gatinho, please...”
“Roier,” Cellbit maintained a serious expression, sighing when he saw the youngest's face. “I'm going back to work. You can take Richarlyson if you want.”
Roier lowered his head, nodding wordlessly and turning away.
Upstairs he found Bobby and Richarlyson, smiling sadly at the two eggs as he stroked the tops of both.
“He doesn't come, I'm sorry... But we can do something for him, what do you think? Take some pictures, make him something to eat, hmm?” He suggested in a positive tone and the eggs started to jump. “So let's go.”
The boy left the property first, followed by Bobby. Richarlyson stayed behind, going down to the underground floor and finding Cellbit with his face buried in the computer, he who didn't even seem to notice his presence.
The little egg began to write in a childish handwriting on a piece of paper, leaving the message on Cellbit's desk and returning upstairs without wanting to draw the boy's attention.
A few minutes later Cellbit finally looked away from the computer screens, only to look for the coffee that seemed to be the only thing he had been drinking for days. However, he quickly found the message left on the table, reading it carefully.
Good luck dad :D I trust you.
But Cellbit could only hide his face in his hands and start crying, and that he wouldn't admit to anyone.
