A totally graceful night

Summary:

His body tingled with the remembrance of the kiss their lips gave him. Face flushing, he groaned and buried his face in the crook of his arm, rolling over in his bed and burying his face in his pillow.

Never once had a date had such a hold on him.

Had him wanting to scream into a pillow and kick his legs back and forth excitedly.

His coworker was truly someone that he was going to have a hard time getting out of his mind.

OR

In which Lasko suffers the aftermath of his date and the feelings that come with it.

Work Text:

After the general confusion and embarrassment of the entirety of his brief call with Damien (and Huxley, sort of), Lasko stared up at the ceiling from his bed.

With a blank mind, he blinked and tried to process the night he had been through.

From the roar of embarrassment that still tried to take hold of his mind to the blissful peace that gently nudged it to the side, it was all just… a lot. He was sure that it was a good “a lot,” because he had been able to experience every second of emotion with the person he had already grown to like.

They had been patient with everything he was feeling. Everything he was doing. From him spilling water onto their pants and them being too shocked to do anything about it, to them touching his arm gently whenever they laughed. All of it just made it so… good.

The date was nowhere near as perfect as he wanted it to be, but he was glad they could make it as good as it could be after dinner.

Lasko found himself wondering if they were still hungry, considering half their dinner was smeared across the table they sat at, and their drink soaked the fabric of their pants. He wondered if they were brushing their fingertips over their lips like he was, the lingering sting of the kiss still sprinkled on their lips.

He was starting to feel like a teenager all over again.

When the night finally clicked into place in his mind, he bit his lip to suppress the grin that broke out on his face and he fisted the material of his shirt that laid over his heart. It pounded in his chest, and buried his face in the crook of his elbow.

Never had he imagined he would have managed to get a second date with someone as lovely as them despite ruining their first one. They were just so patient and kind to him, and there was no way in hell he deserved someone like that!

Now that was a bad way of thinking about it. Because he did. And he knew that.

Surprisingly enough, there was a moment in the beginning of their dinner where everything was peaceful. They told him that he deserved the kindness he thanked them so profusely for.

Even though more often than not, it was difficult to believe that was true, he knew they had no reason to lie to him. They had no reason to tell him that, but maybe they didn’t need one.

Turning back over, his eyes gazed longingly at his ceiling, pillow still wrapped in his arms tightly.

The image of them in front of him, one of his hands gripping onto their shoulder tightly as they pulled him in for a kiss. Their lips brushed against his for just a moment, breaths mingling together for a second after they parted.

Remembering what pathetic thing he had said after a second made him roll back over and groan in embarrassment. More of the humiliation-induced kind.

It was even worse that he wasn’t surprised he was the one who muttered something so absurd after his date literally kissed him. After they looked at him with such a tender adoration and whispered the question of consent.

He had the gall to say “thanks,” in the highest pitch ever.

Lasko huffed and slammed his head forward into the pillow.

On the way there, he imagined it, a kiss with them. He imagined he had done something cool after. Like if they said how much they enjoyed it, he would simply pull them in by the back of their neck and kiss them again.

It was just unfortunate he was lightyears away from doing such a thing.

He laid there for a while, knowing that he should’ve been heading to bed soon, but also not being able to stop replaying the night over and over again. It was a movie that he never wanted to turn off. A go-to film that he would spend thousands of dollars to see in the theaters, just so the experience would be as new as it was when it first happened.

Lasko grumbled, knowing that he was absolutely hopeless.

There was no way he was going to cancel his class tomorrow just because he was tired. Though…

His students would know.

He was not the type of person to keep things cool, calm and collected after a happy night. It definitely didn’t help that his students were observant.

Lasko’s eyes fluttered shut, and he took a deep breath, feeling his cheeks cool after burning for so long. He rolled over onto his back and sank into the bed fully, his mind finally stilling mercifully.

His phone rang loudly, making him yelp in surprise as he scrambled to answer whoever was calling him.

“He-hello?” He said without checking the contact, rubbing his eyes as his sleepiness was finally starting to wear off.

“Hey dude! You called earlier?” Huxley’s voice came through from the other end, making Lasko’s face explode in a blush when he remembered that call.

“Y-ye-ye-yes I c-called earlier!” He answered, rubbing his cheeks as his skin pricked with a hot flush. “I-I wanted to ask you about some uhh… relationship stuff?”

“Oh yeah you went on a date!” Huxley gasped, his voice suddenly sounding  more excited than it was before. “How did it go? Did you tell them they looked nice? Did they tell you that you look nice? Was the pizza good? Did you have fun? Did they have fun? You didn’t trip, did you?” He paused, taking a deep breath when he gasped suddenly. “Did you guys like- y’know… kiss?”

Lasko dropped back onto the bed, sighing dreamily as his feelings stirred in his veins all over again.

Huxley gasped again, and Lasko could hear the strain in his voice as he held back a squeal. He grinned, just as excited, and Huxley took a deep breath to calm himself.

“So, are you going to give me the details or keep me in the dark forever?” Huxley asked incredulously, and Lasko just laughed before he took a deep breath and started talking.

Maybe he would have to cancel class for personal reasons after all.
