Summary
Everyone in Lumiose is well-aware that Corbeau works too damn much. After spending a night out patrolling the city's most luxurious bar, Corbeau meets a man with an air of dominance that gives him a run for his money. As intrigued as he is put on edge, Corbeau finds himself unable to resist the seductive allure of a proper challenge, something he rarely gets the chance to experience.

Summary
A pair of metal chopsticks was balanced on top of the bowl by thick, muscled fingers, and only then did the magical illusion of the cooking release Corbeau from its grip. He mustered all his remaining strength— which was pathetically depleted to begin with, this late into the night —to glare at his right-hand man, growling, “I need to finish that report before dawn, Philippe.”
“If you insist on pulling an all-nighter, the least that you could do is take a break to eat, boss,” Philippe sighed, standing firm in his stubbornness, even when those with weaker hearts would crumble beneath Corbeau’s scowl.
Or: Corbeau learned that, when life threw him a curveball in the form of dangerous portals to an alternate-mirror of his city, his best shot to save it was by letting his right-hand man support him.

If one suspects strangers of causing the apocalypse, one generally should not allow them to continue to roam free. They should ideally be restrained until their innocence (or guilt) can be proven. Even if one of them is a child and openly sobbing at the thought of her only family hating her. Even if the other one's absence is probably going to be noticed by a very large, very dangerous Pokémon.
Elsewhere, the rift spits out a man in white. He's not her Warden, but Sneasler will take all the help she can get in finding him.

Summary
As much as L didn't want to admit it, staying at the Rust Syndicate was convenient. It was warm, he could get clean and eat food, and most importantly, and despite his – admittedly half-hearted, at this point – protests, it was completely free. The company was nice, too, though Corbeau's dedication to keeping an eye on him was bordering on obsessive, as if he was afraid that L was going to disappear a second time, never to be seen again.
