Work Text:
One morning, on a day that Chuuya thought would be full of pain and suffering, he was brought into a new room. Instantly, the scientist realized they were in the wrong room, and tried to drag him back out, but his eyes were trained on the boy on the floor. He looked identical to him, in a way that could only be uncanny.
Pulling free of the hand on his arm, he ran to the boy. Squishing his cheeks, and ruffling his hair, making sure he was real. The scientist came running over and tried to drag him away, but Chuuya increased his weight to make it impossible to move him. This boy was under his protection, and his desire and will to keep going was replenished.
It took N coming into the room to get him to let go, not wanting the smaller boy to suffer for his choice. Chuuya was dragged away, praying to gods he didn’t believe in to let him get away from the lab with the other boy. He didn’t want them to spend a lifetime locked away and experimented on.
The whole situation was beyond unfair to the child, who could hardly remember the day before. The days at first blurred together, and then memories of them disappeared altogether. It wasn’t like Chuuya knew what he was experiencing was causing him such bad trauma that he’d begun to repress memories. Dissociating to avoid being present during particularly bad tests.
“-uya! Chuuya! Pay attention to me,” N was shouting, and he sighed in annoyance when defiant eyes met his own. “You can’t just run off and use your ability. For The Tainted Sorrow is dangerous, and you could have hurt someone with it.”
“Who is that boy, and why is he here? I thought you only wanted me,” he growled, angry that another child was dragged into a living hell.
The scientist groaned, “He is a clone of you, and it’s none of your business what happens to him.”
Chuuya got angry at that, lashing out with his words, “If he’s me, then you plan on using him for the war, and you can’t do that! I won’t let you hurt him!”
The defiance being shown almost impressed the man. But it would never be enough, as a hand came down and slapped the face of the child before him. No tears sprung to his eyes as he stared down the adult and glared, angry with how he’s been treated, and the plans for his clone.
“If you hurt him, I’ll make you suffer,” he promised.
“I don’t fear you, and there is nothing you can do to change it. So, stop being rebellious, and get ready for today's tests.” N doubted that Chuuya could do anything to hurt him, so he turned away and grabbed a small device.
With cold eyes, Chuuya sat in the chair, watching as needles were pricked into his arms. Then, the needles began to grow hotter, burning the skin on his arm. Even though he wanted to burst out crying, he didn’t because that would mean N won, and he wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction.
His eyes began to water, but his glare remained strong. “I won’t let you do this anymore. You’ll see.”
“Sure,” he rolled his eyes, sarcastically answering the child, “I doubt that you’d even know what to do if you got loose.”
“I would totally know what to do, you’re just an asshole!” Chuuya shouted.
The needles were pushed further in, making him cry out at the unexpected, sudden increase in pain. “Using profanity won’t make me believe you, plus, I’m the one who has cared for you for over a year now. I know you best, and know you can’t make it on your own.”
Realizing that arguing wasn’t getting him anywhere, Chuuya went quiet. Glaring at N as he removed the needles, and covered the wounds with bandages. Then, he was carried to the small room that was his own, and he curled up under the bed with his blanket and pillow.

In the morning, Chuuya woke to the sound of his bed being moved. N seemed annoyed as he dragged the bed to the side, and picked up the child, who was still wrapped in a blanket. He tiredly whined, and kicked, but N just held on tighter, and brought him to a room specially designed for this specific test. Merging a god and a human to make the ultimate weapon of mass destruction.
There had been a debate on using Chuuya or the clone for the test. It had been decided to use Chuuya, since the clone was much weaker, and had slower reactions. A sleepy child was an easier child to deal with, so he was taken from bed to get right to the test.
Tight restraints were attached to his wrists, ankles, and waist. He was fully awake by the time N flipped the switch to begin the experiment. Bolts of pain shooting through him, making screams echo through the room, until they stopped, and the restraints snapped.
Chuuya fell to the floor, coughing, and then throwing up blood. His body shook so badly that he ended up falling face-first into the mess he’d made. Unable to pull his body up, twitches wracking through him. A door slamming open in the distance was the last thing he heard before blacking out. N ran out to make sure he hadn’t died, feeling pleased that there was still a weak pulse.
However, he was still annoyed about what had happened. He wanted it to work, and now he had major doubts about everything. Since there was no way to tell if Chuuya had fused with the power of the god they had managed to get, or it was a complete failure.
Deciding to give up for the day, he brought Chuuya to a recovery room and tied him down. Then, hooked him up to machines, and made sure he was stable before leaving him again. It was just the start of the end of N’s control over Chuuya.
