Work Text:
Nagi watches as Reo rushes across the colorful field full of soft, fragile patches of flowers. From lilacs to marigolds, it's like you've seen everything beautiful in this life. There were yellow, pink, white— frankly, any color of flower you can imagine! The golden sun bathes the field ever-so-grandly. It is warm but not so hot that it burns the skin. There's a purple blur in the distance, running and jumping like a dog freed from its cage.
He remains unmoving like a statue atop the tallest tower in the world. The wind blows across the warm sun-kissed meadow and brushes past the white-haired boy's stature.
"Sei! Seishiro!" A yell comes from the hillside. A young purple-haired man is seen waving his arms as high as he can.
Nagi does not hesitate and starts running. A warm energy flows through his body unlike any he's felt before. He feels alive and full of fervor. He stops right before him, head over heels.
"Look, a purple tulip! Just like me!" The other boy grinned. It's a smile so rare and special. The biggest smile one could ever see.
Cute.
Nagi would've said so many things at that moment. Tell him he's beautiful, perfect, that he would be willing to spend the rest of his life with him. These are moments he truly cherishes, sights that he himself rarely witnesses no matter how often they are together. Moments that are different from the exchange of cordial pleasantries in business meetings.
"Don't just stand there!" Reo laughs and grabs Nagi's open arms. He pulled him across the grassy land. The blades of grass and silken petals graze by their legs. Nagi found it off-putting but his mind was too distracted by the man tugging his arm.
Nagi took his time to look for a place such as this. It's the most perfect time in the most perfect season. They just won the World Cup. Their lives were showered with golden confetti and lively cheers. It was the best time of their life, and Nagi wants to thank his dear friend for believing in him until the very end.
He really showed more effort in trying to hide his plans from Reo that he ran out of breath every minute or so. It took more than completing a challenging game on his switch. But he pursued for the love of his life. And today, his plans will be completed.
He could not ask for more. His heart pumps faster and faster as he begins to grow impatient. He shoves his right hand into his right pocket and waits.
Take your time, love. He murmured under his breath.
"Everything here is so pretty!" Reo retorts as he lets go of Nagi and raises his arms like he's grabbing the sky right to his palm, "I would spend every of my life eith you here."
Nagi could not stop staring at his best friend. He watches his friend's eyes as it scans through the entire field before them. Trees and mountains of different forms scatter in the horizon. Tiny-looking houses with rooftops painted with red lay across the distance like ants marching to their mound. A strong gust of wind blows beyond the meadow once again, bringing cold air from the east.
Time feels so slow right at that very moment. Every second matters to him. Every tick of the clock lasts like an eternity. He takes a deep breath, a breath that will determine his future.
Now.
"Thank you, Sei. To think that you planned all of this for us!" The violet-haired man chuckles, expecting a tepid unenthusiastic reply from the droopy-eyed friend.
Reo turned back to look at his friend.
"Reo." The once a dreary man, now filled with intense passion kneels before him. He pulls something from his pocket, a small fuzzy purple box. A ring holder.
He opens the box and reveals a silver ring embossed with fine markings. Embedded with the words 'Mikage-Nagi,' the ring shins bright from the dipping sun behind them. A beautiful purple amethyst lays in the center surrounded by dozens of smaller quartz crystals around it. It seemed overly extravagant, but to a man named Reo, it becomes regal, fit for a king.
"Reo," Seishiro repeats, "I want to be a part of your life through whatever hardships we may face in the future."
It isn't enough to make Nagi contempt. He has so many words, and so little time.
"Reo, I want to become your treasure. Your only treasure. I want to become yours."
He looks directly at the man standing before him. He has no care for whatever dirt may stain his pants. No care for the strong wind that could push him any time. He always thought the world is a boring place, that humans are unnecessary in his life, that all he needs is his phone. He always found things to be tiring and burdensome. But no matter how negative he's thought of the world before, he believes the world is on his side today.
"I want you to marry me, Reo."
And it is.
