    Summary

There are little moments when heading to the end of the world that come peacefully admits the chaos. A minor reprieve. A promise and a reminder of simpler times. A sweet-little-nothing in your ear that tells you, 'We're okay.'

Those moments are precious, if truly in hindsight; false.

Even if Steve Harrington of all people is the one to try and convince Eddie of their importance.

"We aren't wasting any time at all," Steve starts, shaking his head. "Over all the times I've done this I've learnt that it isn't go-go-go all the time. There's little moments—, breakdowns in bathrooms, talking and acting like everything's normal, laughing, cleaning wounds even though they won't have time to heal—, all of that. It's what keeps us sane. Even soldiers have trenches, Eddie. The only difference is that our war is at home." A beat. "And alternate-dimensional monsters."
    Eddie stares.

(Maybe, in another bout of hindsight, the true falsehood is what makes them all the more sweet.)
