Chapter Text
John shivered.
"It's bloody freezing outside, Sherlock! Why on earth would you agree to this case?!" John exclaimed, warming his hands with his breath.
"Why wouldn't I have not agreed to this case?" Sherlock looked at John, confused.
John inhaled sharply, rolling his eyes, then exhaled.
"Why are you wearing only one glove, John?" Sherlock observed, though he already knew why, he was curious to what John would say.
"Because I couldn't find it - why else would I be only wearing one glove, Sherlock??" John didn't meet Sherlock's gaze.
"Why are you so angry today?" Sherlock asked, this one he didn't know.
John gave him a "are you serious?" type of look.
"Because you forced me to work this case, as we run around snowy, -20 degree weather!" John huffed.
"And I don't even have two gloves!"
Sherlock thought for a moment.
"I have an idea." The detective said eventually.
Cautiously, he grabbed onto John's bare hand.
"Sherlock, what are you doing?"
".. It'll warm your hand up." This time it was Sherlock who wouldn't meet John's gaze.
John said nothing in response. He could feel butterflies swarming around inside his stomach. He didn't know why though, he didn't love Sherlock. Did he? He could feel his cheeks turn into a pastel pink shade, though, not from the cold. The doctor could feel his heart rate increase along with his breathing. He didn't know what was happening, all of this was so.. confusing. John didn't admit it, but Sherlock's hand was helping his own to feel less cold, warming him on the inside as well.
Sherlock could feel John's pulse accelerate, along with his own. Why though? Why was his heartbeat accelerating at such a rapid rate? He's never felt this way before and he doesn't even know what's causing it. He should look into that once they get back to 221B. He'll do some research on rapid heartbeats when touching someone else's hand and perhaps maybe some accelerated breathing too.
