Chapter Text
The clouds hung low in the sky, the brisk, crisp, slightly sharp smell of the autumn air clinging to Danny as he flew in the sky. Danny didn’t question what his sister did, there was no explanation to how stubborn Jazz was, and there was no talking her down from taking a vacation to Detroit. However, this trip to Detroit wasn’t gonna last for a few days, it had planned to be Danny and Jazz’s new home, a place where their parents wouldn’t dare touch.
Their parents were no help at all, they would prod Danny with needles and escalate to borderline dissection. Their tenacious motives were anything but loving. Danny alongside his sister had done everything in their power to avoid the two raging lunatics, to the point of Danny staying in the Ghost Zone in order to avoid their ‘little tests on him’. Even wolves were more tender than the touch his parents gave him, every little ‘comforting’ rub to his shoulder was a scorching feeling to his skin. His subjects, previously enemies, gave him more respect than his parents showed him when finding out the Halfa’s identity.
Danny barely remembered his mothers kind eyes, they no longer looked at him with love instead with malicious intent. When Danny remembered the experiments they would do to him, it sent him in a spiral. His breath quickening in panic, his throat closing as he gasped for air, he attempted to let out a scream even a wail but no one could hear him. Sam and Tucker couldn’t hear his scream, but they felt a presence lure them to the lab. The lab, a place that they once fooled around in turned into a place that had unshown horror. Their lively friend who would make quips to them, mess with Vlad and the other ghosts layed almost still on that autopsy table, his organs visible to them with his eyes bloodshot red.
Surgical gloves covered in dried vermillion blood with specks of ectoplasm filled a trash can near him, not only were the gloves covered but various surgical instruments laid messily near the halfa’s body. The two had realized that the Fentons were dissecting their son, the vivisection scars making it strikingly obvious along with his widened eyes that he had gone through pure agony and was kept tortuously awake. Sam almost screamed when Danny’s eyes had turned to her, Tucker vomiting in his mouth when he saw Danny try to get up, the organs making a sloshing noise as they touched. Danny’s body fell with a slam, too weak to pick himself up and turned to Sam and Tucker and said something in a hushed whisper, almost like if he said something too loud Maddie and Jack would come racing to continue more tests. “H…help…m..e…..please”

Jasmine Fenton was a collected individual, while she hadn’t planned ahead for the recent event that had situated under her nose she knew better than to go into mass hysteria. Looking back on how many times her parents retreated in their lab and ignored her worried tone on where her brother was, she should’ve taken that as a sign of their contribution to her brother’s current condition. This further Jazz to get out of this town, not for her sake but her brother’s.
Sam and Tucker were clearly disturbed by the several logs his parents left of the vivisection. The first log would start with Danny waking up strapped to an autopsy table, they could hear him murmuring nonono repeatedly as he attempted to escape but all he could do was squirm like an animal. The lab door would open and Jack and Maddie would come into view, Danny would see them and beg them to let him go. What shocked them was the response the two scientists would give him when he spoke. “Look at that Jack, this ghost is pretending to be our son.” Maddie spat out. Jack chuckled before giving him a sickening grin peering down at Danny’s horrified face, holding an oscillating saw, “Don’t you worry son, we’ll have that ghost out of you in no time, even if we have to rip you molecule by molecule.” This caused Danny to struggle more, whatever was used to tie him done must’ve nulled his ghost powers.
He watched his mother grab a scalpel from the array of medical tools on the table, when he looked up the light blinded Danny causing him to squint. Danny continued to squirm as his mother got closer to him with the scalpel and pleaded desperately, “I’m your son, I’ll die if you try to get rid of my ghost half, Mom, Dad please.” Maddie yelled at him with malice in her words, “Silence ghost, I could care less if this procedure kills you, as long as my son is back it doesn’t matter what happens to you!” Maddie would start to cut a deep, long straight line across his chest and navel, before she would continue to cut diagonally Danny whimpered in pain. Maddie noticed this and chuckled mockingly to her husband, “Look Jack, it’s pretending to be in pain.” Before she continued the video cut off.
It would continue to show the torture Danny had endured in that lab in the other logs, Sam, Tucker, and Jazz would wince at the squelching noise Danny’s organs would make as Jack and Maddie would prod their hands inside his chest. They would hear him babbling and begging to his parents, only to get mocking responses and Maddie asking Jack to shut him up. It was too much for them to bear and they cut off the video. While Danny was lucky they didn’t find his core while they were prodding his innards, he was even more lucky that his kingly status spared his body from what he endured in that lab. If Danny was any regular ghost, he would’ve died on that autopsy table.
This whole situation had convinced Jazz to take her brother and make sure their parents could never reach them again. The problem was finding a place that the two mad scientists wouldn’t dare step foot in nor would Vlad get involved in and squeal to his ‘beloved’ Maddie of where her daughter plans to take her science project to. Jazz then had reminisced of a time in Detroit, before Danny had even begun to speak her parents would take her to speak with a business partner of theirs. Dr. Issac Sumdac was a brilliant man who’s machinery rivaled her parents, which was also one of the reasons they had cut ties with the man. Their pride had caused them to cut ties with the devoted scientist, something that seemed to spark the perfect plan in Jazz’s mind.
