Chapter 1: Eda Did What?!
-------------------------------------------------------‐----------------
Tick. Tick. Tick.
The clock ticked loudly as Eda, Raine, and Camila silently sat at the dinner table in Camila's kitchen. The human and two witches each had a drink in front of them. Camila was having coffee with milk and sugar while Eda was having green tea with some alcoholic apple blood. Raine was having a cup of chamomile tea for themselves, a drink they discovered was quite enjoyable. The quiet of the room was periodically interrupted by the laughter and giggles of a 4 year old Amity Blight and Luz Noceda sitting on the couch in the living room, reading a Good Witch Azura storybook or playing with the small abominations Amity ocassionally created.
Camila took a sip of her coffee as she stared intently at Eda, her brow furrowing. She set her coffee, removed her glasses, and pinched the bridge of her nose before putting them back on and finally speaking.
"So let me get this straight," Camila started. "You saw that Luz was stressed about her studies which was causing her to lose sleep and Amity was stressed about being away from Luz for days on end which was causing her to have trouble with the historical assignments Lilith was giving her. So instead of, I don't know, TALKING TO THEM you decided you were going to sneak into the forbidden section of the library, find a book on forbidden potions that Belos had hidden away, and use a recipe in there to make Luz and Amity toddlers for a week by spiking their drinks so that they can forget their troubles and stress while the University of Wild Magic temporarily closes for Tornado-"
Raine interrupted. "Actually, they're gore-nadoes. You see when the temperature….gets….too hot…". Raine trailed off as Camila stared menacingly at them, clearly not in the mood for a course on the various plagues of the Boiling Isles. Camila then stared back at Eda as the Headmaster of Wild Magic sipped her apple blood-tea mix before continuing.
"…Gore-nadoes which is making the the university close for two weeks. And you decided all of this without consulting anyone, notceven Luz or Amity. Do I have that right?"
Eda kept drinking until she realized both Raine and Camila were staring at her. Eda pulled her drink away to give a familiar snort of laughter.
"Yep, you got me!"
Camila sighed.
"Eda, do you do this all the time."
"No I don't!" Eda responded, clearly offended at Camila's accusation.
The vet raised an eyebrow. "Oh really…", Camila said. "What about that time you tried to buy doughnuts with a live opossum?"
"Those things are mythical in the Isles. How can they be worth nothing here?"
Camila continued down the laundry list of complaints she had about Eda.
"What about that time you scared those bird watchers with your harpy form?"
"They were looking for rare birds," Eda retorted. "What could be more rare than me?" Eda then puffed her chest out with pride.
"How about the time you took Raine to a death metal concert? They were deaf for two days afterward!"
Raine raised their hand "Actually, I enjoyed the concert. And the two days of deafness allowed me to focus on my work without having to listen to Darius and Alador arguing about where to go for date night."
Camila shot another stare towards Raine, causing the former Head Witch to freeze in fright. The vet then turned her attention back to The Owl Lady.
"Then there are also the scams you tried here."
Eda gave a look of surprise.
"What scam?" Eda asked with incredulity before sipping her drink again.
"Eda, you tried to sell literal snake oil!" Camila responded with her own incredulity.
"Listen, no one wants an unoiled snake." Eda retorted matter-of-factly.
"That's not a thing here!", Continued to scream, "Also, you let an echo mouse loose in a movie theater, and we have tabloid reporters all over the town because you keep flying on your staff!"
Eda finished her drink and set the teacup down.
"What's your point?" Eda asked, clearly not understanding Camila's frustration.
"MY POINT!?", Camila shouted as she slammed her fists onto the table, the drinkware shaking and clinking due to the vibrations. "My point is you never stop to think! You do all these things without any worries but all it does is just make trouble for others. My darling 19 year old daughter and her girlfriend are now toddlers for a whole week because you didn't stop and think! You are her godmother for Christ's sake!"
Camila continued to glare at the witch with such intensity it was getting through her usual façade of fearless bravado. Camila was about to continue chewing out Eda until she, Eda, and Raine heard a high-pitched cry. The adults looked to the living room entrance and saw Luz and Amity.
Luz looked like she did when she was small, with her fluffy, thick, dark brown hair put into three braids that hung down, each ending with a different colored ribbon. Luz's eyes were currently closed with two streams of salty tears streaming down her face, her mouth wide open and showing off the tooth gap she had as a child. She, like Amity, was dressed in a solid black smock dress with puffy sleeves, her legs covered by mauve-colored tights and black flats on. Beside her, holding her hand and looking worryingly at Luz, was the Blight girl. Her hair color had reverted from her favorite abomination purple to its natural brown color, though it was strikingly paler in tint to her girlfriend's, and was pulled back in a messy bun like it had been when she was a toddler the first time. As Amity tried to help her sweet potato to calm down Camila noticed a similar tooth gap in the young Blight's mouth.
Camila stood up from her chair and slowly walked to the two girls before kneeling before her regressed daughter. "Cariño, what's wrong? What happened?", Camila softly asked as she reached up to Luz's face to wipe away her tears with her thumb. Luz kept crying a bit longer before running to Camila's chest and hugging her as tight as her little arms could.
"I'm sowwy! If I wash betteh, then Mama woodint be mad at Mommy Eda!" Luz cried out, her voice muffled a bit by her mouth being smothered in her mom's sweater. "Wuz…" Camila heard Amity mutter before the little witch ran to her regressed girlfriend and hugged her tight. Camila instinctively wrapped her arms around the two children and gently rubbed their backs to help calm them down. "Shush, it's ok. No one is mad at you. Neither you nor Amity.", Camila soothed to the two regressed girls as she continued to rub their backs, Luz's loud sobs eventually dying down into sniffles.
"Luz, I'm sorry." Camila looked up to see the wild witch standing beside her. Eda dropped down to her knees and used the back of her hand to rub the side of Luz's cheek, exhaling a loud sigh before softly speaking to her two charges. "You two are, were, adults and I should have talked to you both like one. Instead I decided what was best for you two without considering your feelings. And now it seems I just made everything worse. I'm sorry. How about we get you two kids back to the Isles? Hopefully we can find something to reverse the potion so you two aren't stuck as toddlers for a week." Eda opened her arms, expecting the two youngster to go to her but instead they held onto Camila. Eda looked at them quizzically, raising an eyebrow "What's wrong? I thought you guys wanted to go back to your original ages."
Camila looked down at the little ones before placing her hands on the back of their heads so she could have them look up at her. Luz and Amity's eyes had a sadness to them, like when a parent interrupts a child's playime. Camila smiled at the two precious girls before giving a knowing, loving smile. "You want to stay kids for the week?", she asked them. Luz and Amity immediately nodded with such intensity it was a wonder that they didn't crack their necks. Camila's smiled grew before turning to Eda. "I think these two just decided what was best for them on their own"
Eda looked at Camila in bewilderment for a moment before smirking and giving her familiar snort of laughter. "Ha! See, I knew everything would work out. Now, I've packed up some things for them before we got here." Eda stood back up and walked over to her chair and lifted a large, soft pink bag from the floor onto the table. She unzipped it and began pulling out various items and getting them on the table. Camila scooped up Luz and Amity in her arms before standing up and turning to face Eda.
"Now hold on", Camila said in surprise. "You still never told me why they need to stay with me. What about all their friends and family in the Demon Realm?"
Eda stopped to lay down a pink blanket on the table before holding her hand up, fingers extended.
"Lilith and Hooty are working on the Museum of the Boiling Isles, Goops and I are working on protecting the school, Raine and Alador are working on perfect the sigil removal operation, Willow and the Emerald Entrails are preparing for a flyer derby match as the right foot with Hunter taking the week off to support her, and my parents are traveling to other islands for their anniversary."
Eda retracted her fingers into her palm as she rattled off each name until all she had left was a closed fist. Camila was about to agree since it appeared there was no one left until she remembered someone Eda had left out.
"Wait," Camila said. "What about King?"
Camila then saw Eda and Raine give a visible shudder of horror. "We tried that last night", Eda said. "It went-"
"Disastrously", Raine interjected. "King thought it would be a good idea to have the two pretend to be his minions. It ended up with Abomination fluid splattered all over the living room and Luz getting stuck in the wall." Raine and Eda gave another shudder, memories of cutting into Hooty's walls to pull Luz out and mopping up the purple goop still fresh in their minds.
"So yeah," Eda said, " right now all they got is you."
Camila gave a soft sigh before looking at wild witch and former Head Bard Witch with a look of determination.
"Ok, I'll do it. Now what do you have for us?"
Eda gave a smirk before dumping out the contents of the bag onto the table.
"Ok, we got some witchling books from the Bonesborough library, a purple blanket for Luz and a pink blanket for Boots, Luz's snorse plush that she picked out before we got here, Boots's Otabin plush, some lice crispy treats for snacks, Boots's scroll, Luz's phone, a change of clothes, crayons, coloring books, some potions, a concealment stone, a crystal ball with some witchling movies recorded, and last but not least," Eda reached back into her long mane to pull out a white cat and a lavender and purple snake , "their palismen".
Once free of The Owl Lady's messy mane the palismen went to their partners, Stringbean flying over and nuzzling Luz's cheek before loosely wrapping herself around the little human's neck like a choker while Ghost sauntered over on the table to the Abomination witchling and rubbed against her leg, striking a very contented purr. Eda gave a smile before continuing her list of things for the two toddlers.
"Now, you can reach Raine and I, Alador, and Darius at the numbers in Boots's scroll. Boots also has a hard time sleeping so I whipped up some snoozy potions. Just give her half a bottle before bed and she'll sleep like a corpse. They also like to be read a story before bed. Boots didn't mention having a trouble with human food so I assume she can eat it no problem. If she goes outside just put the stone on her. I set it so she'll appear human when it's on her. Raine, am I missing anything?"
Eda turned to Raine. "Only that you owe Luz, Amity, and Camila big for this", Raine muttered as they had the last of their chamomile tea.
Eda nodded. "Noted. Now, Raine and I need to get going now if we're going to make it before the gore-nadoes start. Once the potion works its way out of their system they'll back to normal. Byeeeee!"
Eda grabbed Raine by the arm and practically ran out the door while dragging the bard behind her. She pulled out Owlbert from her hair and had him turn into his staff form. Eda was about to sit onto the staff to fly to the portal until she heard a very loud "EDA!" behind her. Both Raine and Eda looked back to see the elder Noceda woman staring daggers at the wild witch. Remembering their earlier conversation, Eda sighed in defeat and reverted Owlbert to his animal form.
"Well Raine, looks like we're taking the transport worm." The couple pulled out their concealment stones and put them on, the pointed ears of a witch now rounded like a human's. The two witches waved to the interspecies trio in the house before leaving.
Camila stood there in silence with the girls for a bit before Amity conjured up an Abomination hand to float to the doorknob and close the front door.
"Thank you Amity." Camila said before giving a light kiss on the witchling's forehead. "Now, what do you two want to do?"
Luz and Amity thought hard a moment before their little stomachs gave an answer with a loud growl. Camila chuckled as she went to the table and set each child down in a seat. "How about some empanadas?, she asked the girls. "I got some chicken from the grocery store yesterday. Would you like that?" Amity and Luz smiled and shook their heads enthuastically. Luz enjoyed her mom's empanadas everytime they were made and Amity had a great time when she tried them during the months the Hexsquad was stuck in the Human Realm.
Camila smiled again before pulling out some coloring books and crayons for the girls to keep them occupied while she cooked. As Luz and Amity went to coloring and playing with their palismen, Camila went to the fridge to get the ingredients for dinner.
"This week's is going to be challenging", Camila thought as she began making the empanadas. "But I think it will be fun as well. I'm sure Vee will be happy to learn shes going to be a big sister for a week when she gets home."

Summary:
Update for chapter 2
Chapter Text
Hey guys! I am so sorry I haven't put chapter 2 out yet. To be honest I've been working on this while I'm bored at work but lately things have gotten so busy I haven't been able to write as much as I'd like. I am so close to finishing it but I need a few more days. Next Chapter will see Vee as an adult and how she lives in the Human Realm. It will of course have little Luz and Amity shenanigans. It also contains some Vee angst. Not a lot, but some. I hope you all will enjoy the next chapter when it comes out!
UPDATE: I am going to be honest, ending this chapter is harder than I expected. There are so many things I want to do with it that I'm having trouble getting to where I need to be to end it and start the next chapter.

Chapter 2: Playtime with Big Sister Vee
"Thank you, come again!"
Vee smiled and waved to the customer as the man took his order of a latte and some fresh cream-filled pastries before nodding a silent "Thank you" and leaving the café. Once the customer left Vee sighed and looked at the clock. Seeing it was 6 PM, Vee called to her boss in the kitchen.
"Selene, it's 6 PM! Is it ok if I clock out?"
"Is Mary here?" the café owner responded.
"I am now!"
Vee turned around and saw blue-haired, brown-skinned girl that would be taking over for her for the night. Vee gave the girl a soft hug before backing off and letting her coworker log into the POS system.
"Anything I should know about, Vee?" Mary asked.
"Not much" Vee responded as she began taking off her Gravesfield Cafe apron and hat.
"Just that we ran out of blueberry scones an hour ago and we have to hit the cream dispenser to make it work again."
Mary sighed. The girl was clearly not looking forward to a fistfight with the cream dispenser. Vee gave her coworker another quick hug and a sincere "good luck" before walking back to the kitchen, into the office/break room, and hanging her apron on the wallhook below her name plate. She then turned to the pale-skinned woman of 52 years with rainbow-dyed hair that was her boss.
"I'm clocking out for the day and going home."Vee said to the woman who was currently doing paperwork at her desk. Selene looked up at Vee for a bit before grabbing her paycheck and giving it the disguised basilisk. Vee gave a heartwarming smile as she took the envelope.
"Thanks Selene"
Selene smiled and nodded.
"That Jacob guy is by the dumpster again. Do you want me to teach him a lesson like last time?"
Vee shook her head, her thick, luxurious hair following her movements.
"Nah. He's harmless, especially since he knows harassing me at work will earn him another beating."
Selene nodded again. "Ok, but let me know if that changes. I care about everyone here and I will not allow some crackpot harass any of you."
Vee internally squealed with joy as she heard that. After her painful past in the Demon Realm she was happy that she has met such wonderful people like her mom, Masha, and Selene in the Human Realm. It was a big reason why she decided to enroll in the local Gravefield College (after some soul-searching) instead of going to the University of Wild Magic like Luz, even though there were basilisks like her there.
The girl thanked Selene and made her way out of the cafe through the front door and to the nearby parking lot to her car. As she made her way to the yellow 2007 Suzuki SX4 that her mom helped her pay for for her 16th birthday, she spotted the disgraced historian hiding behind the bushes near the back of the café.
She and Jacob locked eyes for a moment before Vee opened the door and got inside, keeping an eye out to make sure Jacob stayed away from her. His constant attempts to prove that witches are from Mars and are out to extract human teeth to power their time machines had turned him from the respected town historian to the town's laughing stock (though she heard that he had a small following on the internet). Whether it was trying to capture Vee again, which earned him more time with Camila's La Chancla, or him trying to follow Vee and Masha to the Portal Door, which just ended up with him getting lost thanks to Willow and Gus, all his attempts failed. At this point Vee considered him more of a minor irritation than anything.
Once Vee was situated, and Jacob couldn't see the lower half of her body, she pulled up the back of the seat so she could let her thick basilisk tail slip out of her human form and through the specially-made hole (courtesy of Alador) to lazily flop in the leg area behind her. It wasn't as relaxing as her full-form reversion but it would suffice until she got home. Vee then reached into her lunch bag and pulled out one of her special cookies: chocolate chip with a drop of Titan's Blood mixed into the dough, courtesy of King. The young Titan's blood was loaded with so much magic that a single drop was enough to keep her magic consumption needs satisfied for a month! Vee popped the cookie into her mouth as she backed out of her parking spot and merged onto the connecting road, leisurely making her way home and taking occasional bites of the delicious, magical treat.
As Vee drove home she let her mind wander a bit to tomorrow's plans. Vee had promised Masha she would take them to the Demon Realm this weekend. The history buff (and self-proclaimed mystic) wanted to go to a local Hexus Hold'em tournament in Bonesborough. They seemed to have a supernatural talent for the game ever since Eda taught them how to play, consistently getting to the top three in multiple tournaments throughout the Isles. Masha also wanted to check out the newly renovated Museum Wing of the Bonesborough Library, likely because a limited-time exhibit on basilisks debuted there last weekend (with the approval of Vee and her kind, of course).
Vee chuckled internally. She still couldn't believe that two years ago she was scared to death of revealing herself to Masha, expecting the human to resent her or even harm her. But when it finally happened Masha wrapped the basilisk in the warmest, most loving hug ever and kissed her right on the lips. Ever since then her precious human always made a point to remind Vee how much she is loved.
Vee finished her Titan's Blood Cookie as she pulled up to her home. Sighing, Vee retracted her tail into her human disguise and stepped out of the car. Stretching a bit, she reached back into the car to grab her things and walked to the front door. She fished out her keys from her lunch bag, opened the door, walked into the foyer, and promptly closed the door behind her. The moment after Vee heard the door lock with a *click* she reverted back to her original form, the shape of a 19 year-old human girl with luxurious, pale swamp-green and aqua blue hair that fell down to her back, wearing a Human Demon Exchange Program shirt and grey jeans instantly giving way to a pale swamp-green, chubby humanoid serpent sporting the same messy blue and green hair, though this style was only down to her neck.
"Mamá, estoy en casa!" Vee called out.
Almost immediately she heard her mom say "Bienvineda! How was work?" from the living room.
"Not bad. Jacob is still stalking me, though he knows to stay his distance." Vee said as she slithered into the kitchen to drop off her lunch bag before starting her way to the living room.
"Maybe I should try to talk to him. Show him that witches and demons aren't evi-AAAAAAAH!".
Vee cried out in surprise as she was instantly jumped by two small humanoids the moment she got to the living room, feeling little hands grab onto her scales.
"MOM! WHAT'S GOING ON?! WHO ARE THEY?! HELP!"
Vee wiggled and wriggled about to shake the two small things off her, the mysterious creatures giggling with evil glee as they gripped harder onto her and began to rub their little faces all over her smooth, soft scales.
"Wait wait wait!" Camila shouted to Vee as she quickly walked over to her (currently under attack) basilisk daughter and helped pry the two tiny terrors from the snake girl, picking them up and setting them down away from Vee.
"Luz, Amity, you shouldn't jump on people…or demons...without permission! Now stay there while I help Vee." Camila said, scolding the two entities.
The human mother of currently three children then hurried over to her serpentine daughter to help her. The basilisk was curled up and breathing heavily, her mind racing, trying to figure out what just happened and put the pieces together. Camila knelt before the startled snake and gently placed her hands on Vee's slim shoulders.
"Vee, look at me. Look at me, please." Camila spoke softly but with authority to allow Vee to focus on her voice.
Vee looked up into her mom's gaze as she reached up and rested her claws over her mom's hands. Camila continued to talk.
"Vee, just remember what Dr. Singh told you what to do when you get too overwhelmed. Breathe in," Camila inhaled deeply, with Vee quickly following suit. They held their collective breaths for five seconds before exhaling in unison. The human mother and demon daughter continued this a few times before Vee felt herself calm down and could think clearly. Camila smiled as she saw her sweet daughter was now breathing normally and seemed to have calmed down.
"There we go. Better?" Camila asked in a soft, motherly tone. Vee nodded and released her hold on her mother's hands, allowing Camila to remove her own hands from Vee's shoulders. Vee slowly rose until she was at her normal height.
"I am so sorry about this Vee." Camila apologized. "They were sitting in front of me, playing with their palismen, and the moment I turned to look outside they were already on you."
Vee tilted her head in visible confusion. "Who is 'they?'" she asked. Camila sighed and a took a step to the left so Vee could get a clear view of what had attacked her. In front of her sat a young human and witchling in matching black dresses. The human was holding a snorse plushie to her chest and absentmindedly sucking on her thumb with her other hand while the witchling had her pink rabbit plush in her lap, allowing her full use of her tiny hands to create a small Abomination construct, the little purple golem stomping around and doing little tricks like cartwheels to make the human giggle. Vee squinted her eyes as she looked at them. They looked oddly familiar. Then Vee's brain brought up the memory of Camila calling them Luz and Amity. The gears in Vee's brain clicked and whirred as all the evidence led to one conclusion, no matter how outlandish it seemed.
"LUZ AND AMITY ARE TODDLERS?!", Vee shouted in complete shock.
"Shush, not so loud Vee. We don’t need the neighbors knocking on our door again", Camila shushed her daughter.
"Sorry, sorry", Vee responded, now in a much quieter tone. "But this is impossible! What happened? Was it a curse? How did they get here? Is it permanent? Do they…do they remember us?"
"Vee, calm down." Camila said to the now hyperactive demon. "1. Eda happened. 2. It's not a curse. 3. Eda and Raine brought them here. 4. It lasts a week. 5. Well, why don't you ask them?"
Camila smirked as Vee slithered closer to the two tots. She lowered her head until it was nearly eye level with the regressed Luz Noceda. "Luz?", Vee asked, grabbing the human's attention. Luz looked right into Vee's eyes and the basilisk saw such childlike wonder and hope in those pools of hazel-brown eyes. "Do you…", Vee gulped nervously before continuing. "Do you remember me?"
Luz sat there for a few seconds before giving a cheerful smile, standing up, and waddling over to Vee before giving her a big, loving hug.
"Vee-Vee!" she exclaimed, clearly happy that her temporary big sister was home. Vee breathed a sigh of relief before reciprocating Luz's hug in an embrace of her own, squeezing a bit at the end to drive home how much she loved her sister before letting the little human go back to her girlfriend's little Abomination show. Camila smiled as she stood beside Vee, watching Luz and Amity stayed entertained by the little display.
"Sorry, I couldn't resist." Camila softly chuckled. "Eda told me the potion allows them to keep their memories, though physically and emotionally they're toddlers."
"I'm glad they still remember me." Vee responded. "I didn't want to have Luz and Amity be scared of me. I've gotten enough of that to last a lifetime."
"Oh Vee," Camila said as she wrapped her daughter in a warm, motherly hug. Vee wrapped her arms around her strong, gentle, kind, amazing mother, the two species enjoying the company of each other and the familial bond that had grown from being in each other's lives. The hug would have continued for several minutes, were it not for Vee feeling something poking her scales. Camila and Vee gently pulled away from each other as they looked down to discover Luz as the source of the poking.
"Yes Luz? What is it?" Camila asked her small child.
Luz looked at Vee with those wide, bright eyes again.
"Vee-Vee play?"
Vee was about to agree when Camila interjected.
"Luz," Camila said in a scolding tone. "Don't you think there's something you and Amity need to say first?"
Luz looked at her mother quizzically for a couple of seconds before the reason came to her. Luz looked back up at Vee, the girl now looking hurt.
"I'm sowwys I scawed you."
Amity nodded before adding her own apology.
"I'm sowwys too."
Both tots looked up at their current caretakers with big puppy dog eyes, not holding anything back to ensure they get playtime with their big snake sister.
Vee and Camila felt their hearts seize up a bit inside upon seeing how absolutely precious the two girls were. Vee reached out and placed her hand on top of Luz's head, messing the hair slightly and playing with a pigtail. "Apology accepted, you little rascal." Vee said as she smiled.
Luz and Amity's widened in joy as they cracked big, cheerful smiles. "Pway! Pway!" The girls shouted in unison as Luz went behind Vee and climbed onto her snake body, Amity quickly joining behind her human girlfriend. Vee looked back as much as she could, unsure of what the girls wanted her to do
"And what would you two like to do?" Vee asked.
"Big Noodle Twain! Big Noodle Twain!" the tykes shouted in unison.
"Are you sure you'll be ok? You just got home.", Camila asked Vee.
"I'll be ok for a couple for a bit. I just had one of my cookies on the way home. Got an energy boost from it.", Vee responded as she shapeshifted an old-style train conductor's hat on her head before giving a big "Choo Choo! All aboard the Noodle Train!"
"Yay!" the girls exclaimed as Vee began to slowly slither around the living before picking up a bit of speed and going through the kitchen and dining room, occasionally making childish train noises likes "choo choo" and "chugga chugga" to add to the already high levels of delight Luz and Amity were experiencing. Luz and Amity giggled and squealed the time that they rode on the Noodle Train, their big sister's soft scales and firm body making for quite the comfortable ride. This makeshift transportation game continued for about ten minutes before the weight of the toddlers began to make itself felt on the basilisk's tail. Once the snake made her way back to the living she slithered over to the couch and stopped.
"Ok passengers, this is our stop! Please watch your step as you exit the Vee Train!" Vee said in an announcer-like voice as she shifted the conductor hat back to her normal head shape.
The announcement drew cries of "Ah mans!" and "No! Wan more!" from the regressed duo, clearly upset over the end of their train ride.
"Come on, girls. My tail is starting to feel sore.", Vee responded as she wiggled her tail to gently shake the two kids off her.
Luz and Amity continued to whine and fuss over the end of their fun before Camila came into the living room from the kitchen and said in a soft but firm tone, "Girls, please get off Vee. She asked you to get off nicely. Don't make me put you two in the timeout corner."
The mention of a "timeout corner" got their attention. Luz and Amity quickly swung their little legs over the basilisk's tail and slid off.
"We're sowwy, Vee-Vee." the girls said.
Vee smiled as she turned around and patted them both on the head.
"That's ok." Vee said. "Just please listen to me when I tell you something, ok?"
"Otays." the girls responded.
"Good. Now, what would you two like to do while I rest?", Vee asked.
The girls looked about for their next activity before settling on the stack of coloring books Eda had "procured" before dropping the girls off with Camila. Vee smiled and slithered over to the stack. She picked up one titled Abomination Delight and another titled Witch's First Summoning, along with a 64 ct of crayons. She then went back to the girls and up the books.
"Ok, who wants what?" Vee asked.
Luz quickly pointed to Abomination Delight and Amity pointed to Witch's First Summoning.
"Not the choices I expected, but I guess I can't really expect anything to be normal for awhile" Vee thought as she placed the books on the rug before the girls and placed the box of crayons between them.
Luz and Amity immediately laid down on their stomachs and opened up the books to the first page, reaching for the appropriate crayons to begin their little art projects. Vee patted their heads one last time before slithering over to the couch and coiling up on one of the cushions. Finally, she could relax.
Camila walked up to Vee and handed her a glass of water before joining her on the couch.
"Thanks Mom" Vee said before she gulped down the water, the cool liquid quenching the thirst she worked up from carrying the two girls around the house.
"You handled them pretty well. I'm impressed." Camila praised her daughter.
"Thanks. I've had some experience…in the Demon Realm."
Vee's voice got quieter as she ended her sentence, a solemn look now on her face. Camila gently rubbed Vee's back. The girl had only given broad strokes over what had happened to her and the other basilisks in the Demon Realm, even when she was with her therapist (edited so Dr. Singh would continue to believe she's a human girl), but Camila knew Vee's past was deeper than that. However, Camila made a promise to Vee that she would be there for the girl if and when she decided to be more open about it. For now, she just wanted to give the girl a bright future.
"Mija, you don't have to talk about it if you don't want to. I'm sorry if I brought up any bad memories." said Camila in a gentle tone, feeling bad for potentially causing her daughter to replay past traumas in her head.
"Thanks Mom. Right now, I'm just glad I have people like you and Luz and everyone else in my life to help me through this." Vee responded, looking at Camila with a look of deep apprection for all wonderful people in her life.
"Of course, mija. You're family, and family supports each other through thick and thin!", Camila said determinedly.
Camila and Vee shared the tender moment for a few minutes. It would have lasted longer if not for Amity and Luz poking Vee and Camila respectively. The duo of adults looked down at the duo of children.
"Yes kids? What is it?", Camila asked.
Luz and Amity smiled as they help up their coloring books, showing their finished art. In Luz's book was a picture of an abomination golem punching what looked like a tree with too many branches ending in toothy jaws, while Amity's was was a summoning circle with various arcane sigils and the top of an unknown entity coming up from the center of the circle. While Luz had messily colored hers in, with the colors clearly going over the lines, Amity had hers colored perfectly, each part of the picture colored neatly and with no overlap. But whether messy or neat, Camila loved both of them.
"Muy bien you two!", Camila praised the two girls. "How about we hang those up on the fridge so everyone can see?"
Amity and Luz shook their head enthusiastically as they tore the pictures out of their books and handed them to Camila. The mother of three smiled and took them to the fridge with the regressed duo in tow. She moved aside a picture Camila took of Vee and Masha before they went to prom and used magnets to hold the pictures to the fridge.
"There we go!" Camila beamed as she looked down at the young couple. "Now everyone can see what amazing artists you two are!"
Luz threw her little arms up in the air in triumph, shouting "Yay! Awtist! Awtist!" while Amity had a more muted reaction, bringing her little fists to her chest with an expression of "I did good!" on her face.
Camila gave a soft chuckle as patted their heads.
"How about you two go back to coloring while I make a snack for you two and dinner for your big sister, ok?."
Luz nodded and ran up to give her mother's leg a big, loving hug.
"Wuv you, Mami!" She exclaimed before grabbing Amity's tiny hand and running back to their little activity books.
Camila smiled as the two precious tykes disappeared into the living room. She then turned to the fridge. After opening the door she called out to her basilisk daughter.
"Vee, what kind of empanadas do you want?" Camila yelled
"Vegetarian!" Vee responded
Camila smiled and grabbed the various ingredients for vegetarian empanadas and set to work. After an hour Camila had six vegetarian empanadas, four for Vee and two for Luz and Amity.
*Kids, food is ready!" She called out
Soon, Vee appeared from the living room with Luz and Amity once again rising the Noodle Train. Vee carried them to the table and hoisted each toddler up before placing them in their seats. She then coiled herself a bit before sitting at her own seat. Camila went to the table and set the plates down for her kids to enjoy.
"Ok, while you eat I'm going to clean up your toys and books. Then you can watch a move before bedtime, ok you two?" She asked Luz and Amity. The duo nodded while munching on their snack. The mother of three went to each child and gave each of them a kiss on the head before going to the living room to clean up.
Camila came in and looked at all the various toys, plushies, and coloring books strewn about the floor. She sighed and began to clean, stacking the books in New, In-Process, and Completed piles, piling both the Demon Realm plushies and the ones she found in a box in the attic earlier in a little mountain of softness, and placing their toys in a little wicker basket nearby. By the time she had fluffed the pillows on the couch Noodle Train was coming back around.
"Choo Choo! Last stop, Movie Town!" Vee exclaimed as Luz and Amity giggled and cooed.
Camila gave her own little chuckle as Vee deposited the tykes in front of the TV before depositing herself on the couch. She then pulled out her phone that she retrieved from her lunchbox earlier and began to text Masha.
While Vee was texting, Camila kneeled in front of the little entertainment cabinet and looked at the various movies and TV shows she had on DVD.
"What to get, what to get." she thought as looked through the various pieces of entertainment. She was going to have the duo come over to look before her eye spotted something. She smirked as she pulled it out and looked it over.
"Luz and Amity have probably watched this a million times, but I think they'll still enjoy it.", she thought as she stood back up and went to the girls, who appeared to be playing with Stringbean and Ghost
"I was wondering where they went. Now, how would you girls like to waaaaaatch…."
Camila held the DVD box up to the cover, letting their eyes scan over the title: The Good Witch Azura. Immediately their eyes grew wide with excitement as they threw their little hands up in the air with joy, startling their magical familiars.
"Azuwa! Azuwa! Azuwa!" the girls chanted as Camila turned around and popped the DVD into the video player before starting the movie. The girls immediately became enraptured by the title playing across the screen as Camila moved past them and sat on the couch. Finally, some time for her and Vee to relax. She looked over to her daughter and noticed her texting.
"Texting Masha again?" Camila teased with a smirk.
Vee blushed as she looked at her adoptive mother.
"Oh, yea. Masha and I are going to a Hexus Hold'em tournament and then the Bonesborough museum. They're having an exhibit on basilisks."
"Oh, Vee'" Camila said as a hurt look spread across her face. " I'm sorry but you should know…."
At 8:34 PM, Gravesfield police received calls from various residents complaining of a noise disturbance. Residents described the disturbance as a loud "ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?"
Notes:
I am not going to lie, I had a hard time with this chapter. I thought I'd be able to glide through it like the first but between having less time to work on it at work and getting writer's block, I got exhausted. Because that the next chapter will not have the aquarium date. Instead, it will be a mini-chapter on an interaction between Amity and Camila I thought of while working on this.
For this chapter, I wanted to give Vee some angst, which I think is normal considering her past. But I also wanted to show that she is working through it at her own pace and that her mom supports her.
I would like to thank my fiance for beta-reading this and as always, feel free to comment. I love hearing from you guys on what you think of my work!
Chapter 4: Update for Chapter 3
Chapter Text
Hi everyone! I hope you're enjoying the story so far! So i want to give a quick update about chapter. As I mentioned in the previous chapter's notes, I will not be doing the aquarium date next. It is going to take a lot of time to do it, so much so that I'll be breaking it up into 2-3 parts so i dont go too long without an update, and right now I am exhausted pretty much everyday. My body and mind have been past the breaking point for 3 weeks but I can't call off work for my mental health without getting in trouble. This has led me to relying on my age regression coping mechanism more than usual and when I'm in that mindset writing is the last thing on my mind.
In order to get something out while I'm stuck in this cycle I've decided to make a mini-chapter next. It won't be as big as others but it will still bring the fluffy cuteness.
The next chapter will detail an interaction I wanted Amity and Camila to have last chapter but cut due to feeling it took away from the story I was trying to create. We'll find out why Amity has a hard time sleeping, more on the nature of her younger mindset, as well as a lot of needed love and support.
I apologize for all the delays and I hope you'll continue to stick with me as I make this story into something that a lot of fans will love
