The day outside hung heavy, at least judging by the sliver of sunlight, no wider than the edge of a cut fingernail, that streamed through the bottom of her black blinds. But the bright bleakness of the world outside couldn't reach her here, not beneath her pile of faux fur-lined blankets and silk sheets, nor with the combined weights of Simon, Lupin, and Raffles spread across her legs and back.
After all, was there anything out there that she really needed? As of a few hours prior, she now had a Fabergé egg to her name. For once in her life, luck was firmly on Felicia's side. All she needed to steal now was a few more hours of sleep.
