Chapter 1: Late at night
Chapter Text
Time walked into the living room at Lon Lon ranch to see his wife tucking things into their bags.
“Malon, what are you doing?” He asked her.
“I don’t know how long we will get to keep our boys, so I am putting the gifts I made them in their bags. “ she answered.
Time came closer and hugged Malon tightly. He didn’t want the boys to leave either, not when he knew exactly what they were going back to.
“I know it’s silly but can we go check on them?” Malon asked him. The ‘make sure they are still here’ went unsaid.
“ yeah. “ time answered.
Together they climbed the stairs and entered the bedroom the boys had claimed back on their first visit.
The floor was covered in the mattresses from the beds ( warriors, twilight, and sky had dismantled the frames and leaned them against the wall out of the way) and on top of them were the heroes all in a cuddle pile.
Twilight was in wolf form in the center with Wild and Hyrule on either side, hands entwined in his fur. Back to back with Wild was green. On Hyrules other side, Legend had curled around him one hand resting on Hyrules arm.
On legends other side was red, bracketed by sky. Sky had wrapped both him and red in his sailcloth and laid a corner over legend.
Warriors laid at everyone’s heads, his head at sky’s and his feet at greens. Vio was pulled to warriors chest and wrapped in the captain’s scarf. Wind had star fished at everyone’s feet. His hand was holding on to legends ankle, his knee was on one of wilds feet, and he had hooked on ankle over greens. Blue had decided to fall asleep with his feet on winds stomach.
Time stealthily picked up wilds slate and took a few pictures of the group before malon moved him to one side of the group and made him lay down.
They fell asleep comforted by the fact that their boys were safe at least for the night.
Chapter 2: In the morning
Summary:
Malon has some thoughts
Notes:
Hey finally got chapter 2 done. This work is not abandoned but updates will be very slow.
Update: I am a chronic editor, so chapters may be different if you come back to this. For instance this chapter was three chapters but it was really choppy so I combined them.
I may do more changes like this in the future.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
Malon woke up to the sun in her eyes, which in itself was confusing. Normally she was up before the sun, thanks to the roosters. She looked around, remembering the events of last night. Hearing footsteps she looked towards the door, seeing twilight in Hylian form.
“I already took care of the milking and other chores. You can go back to sleep. “ he said before transforming and slipping back between Wild and Hyrule.
“ I’m guessing Sky taught you how to bribe the bird?” She asked to which twilight gave a canine smile.
She tried to go back to sleep but found she couldn’t so she went downstairs to the kitchen to start on breakfast.
She did her best to be quiet. The boys seemed to have a sixth sense when someone was doing something that they could help with. She lasted about ten minutes before Wild walked down the stairs and washed his hands to help her.
Malon shot him a smile, but couldn’t help but glance at his arm.
The first time she had seen it, she had been filled with rage. She wanted to march right up to hylia and demand to know why she had deemed it necessary to inflict this pain on a child. But she pushed it down to wrap her missing son in a hug and give him all the love and care she could.
Since then, the boys had made it their mission to help wild look at his arm with more than a grimace.
Now Wild’s new wrist was covered with bracelets. From colorful woven string ones made by sky, Hyrule, wind, and twilight to chain ones made by time and four to metal ones with gemstones gotten by legend and warriors.
Farther up his arms were colorful bits of paper stuck with super sticky sap. ‘Stickers’ wind had called them.
“What were you thinking of making for today?” Wild asked her.
“How does everything we can before the others wake up sound ?” She said with a grin.
Wild grinned back at her before diving into the work.
Wild and malon passed an hour and half in companionable silence before the first hero came down the stairs.
It was wind. He was wrapped up in his blanket and clearly not awake when he walked up and wrapped an arm around malon leaning against her.
She patted his hand, and led him to the table before handing him a plate piled high with food.
“Hey wind, show Ma what’s on your wrist.” wild called out.
Wind held out his wrist. On it was what at first glance looked like a bracelet. When she reached out to touch it though she realized the truth. It was a tattoo.
“It’s a chain. Get it?” Wind said with a smile.
Malon snorted. “I’m guessing each link represents on of you?”
“Yep.” Wind replied. “The pink one is legend. The black one is twilight. The blue and orange one is wild. the brown one is Hyrule. The dark blue one is wars. The silver one is time. The red one is sky. And the link made of five smaller one is four and the colors.”
“Then what are these?” She asked. There were several ‘charms’ hanging of different links.
Wild was the one to answer. “The bird hanging off of sky’s is for sun. The rabbit hanging off of legends is for ravio. And the horse hanging off of times is for you. “ he said showing her on his own wrist.
“Do you all have the same tattoo?”
“Yep.” Wind answered. “It was honestly pretty fun getting them all together. “
It sparked an idea in Malon.
Soon after wind started eating the others started trickling down the stairs as well.
Wars came down wearing one of times shirts. It was too big in the shoulders, causing the wrists of the shirt to dangle past his fingertips. The colors came down each holding the others hands. Legend carried Hyrule piggyback style to the table. Time led Sky to the table where the teen dropped his head and went back to sleep. And Twilight came down still in wolf form, wagging his tail.
Wild set a bowl of food down in front of Twilight, who gave him a quick lick on the cheek before digging in.
“He told me last night he wants to take advantage of being able to be a wolf since he won’t be able to as much when he goes back to Ordon.” Wild explained. “He said he would be human this afternoon and tonight though.”
Wilds explanation was met with lots of enthusiastic nods.
“This would probably be a good time to say we want to stay separated for the day as well.” Vio said.
Hyrule raised his hand. “Does this mean I can be a fairy for the day?”
“Yes Hyrule. Whenever you want.” Time said.
“Sweet.” Hyrule said before transforming and flying down the table to legend, snatching a berry off the teens plate before sitting in his hair to enjoy it.
Legend looked slightly disgruntled but made no move to stop him.
“By the way,” Malon said coming up behind Time and grabbing his hand, exposing his wrist. “When were you going to tell me about this?”
“Later today. “ Time said red faced. The other boys burst out laughing.
“Well I like them. They fit you guys.” Malon said.
Notes:
Let me know what you think.
Chapter 3
Notes:
So in this wild still has the sheikah slate instead of the purah pad.
Also I headcanon Twilight as freakishly strong.
Chapter Text
The rest of the day was as normal as it could get. The colors went to the forge, fixing every blade, tool, and arrow the chain had as well as everything metal on the ranch.
Wind, Hyrule, and Wild went out to the horses. Wind and Wild mucked out the stalls and spread fresh hay around while Hyrule refilled food and water for the horses.
Legend, Warriors, and Twilight helped bring in bales of hay. Legend and warriors each handled a bale at a time while Twilight basically ran circles around them, having turned back to his hylian form to help with the chore.
(Malon managed to enact part one of her plan with no one the wiser.)
Sky took care of the cuccos. Cooing and baby talking to them and apologizing for his brothers attitudes towards them. Generally being very soft and loving. Although at one point, he and Wild each grabbed a cucco and chased the others around screaming “let them love you.” Which caused a mass fleeing of the links. Many of them were hiding behind her, believing themselves to be protected. Malon simply took one of the cuccos and spun around to see them pale and take off running again.
The game continued until they heard a shrieked “HOLY HYLIA” that had them all running towards the house.
When they made it in malons gaze immediately went to a frozen Red, staring at the cubbies where the boys stored their stuff when they came to the ranch. There was a rope tied around his waist, the end of it being held by Blue and Wind.
Malon ran to Red and looked him over for injury. “What happened, baby? Are you alright?”
He simply pointed at the cubbies. Malon looked and drew in a breath. Instead of the packs that she slipped gifts into last night were eight slates like wilds.
Wild ran up the stairs to their room. “Mines still up here.” He called as he brought it back down. “But it’s different.”
Sure enough the back of it had changed. Instead of the old sheikah eye it used to have, it now had a landscape on the back.
“Hey that’s the view from the shrine of resurrection right?” Wind asked popping up beside Wild. Wind went to the cubbies and picked up another slate. He smirked to himself and took it over to wars.
“Here this one’s yours. See it has your scarf on the back.” He said handing it to warriors.
Legend pulled another out. “I think this one is sky’s.” It had two people on loftwings on the back.
Wild surged forward. “I found Twi’s” he said cackling there was a goat under a dusk filled sky on the back of the ranchers.
Hyrule pulled a few more out. “Wind, Red, Blue, Vio, Green, I found yours.” Winds had a picture of outset island with a pirate ship in the harbor on the back of his. The colors all had the same scene on theirs but done in different colors.
“Hey legend this one’s yours.” Malon said handing it to him. An apple orchard was his back.
Legend handed one to her. “Then I think this one is the old man’s.” It was a picture of the ranch complete with her and Epona standing out front.
“Guys look at the map section. There’s so many different ones. And they all have the little teleporting icons like-“ wind said before turning into blue streamers of light and disappearing.
Chapter 4
Summary:
Wind comes back with a surprise.
Notes:
Hey guys. Sorry this took so long. Everything has been going on. And my brain decided it only wants to focus on this long enough to write two sentences.
Chapter Text
Legend threw his to the ground. “It’s a trap! It’s a trap! It’s a trap!”
“So where did Wind go?”
“Isn’t it obvious? He’s back in his era! These things were to get us to get our stuff so that Hylia could zap us back home!” Legend yelled.
“Wait! Guys, do you hear that?” Sky asked.
Silence settled for only a moment before they realized two people were screaming outside. Everyone took off running. One voice Malon recognized as Wind, the other was completely foreign to her. But it seemed as if legend recognized it, if the way he sped up was any indication.
They all burst through the front door; legend running and sliding on his knees to a figure wearing purple laying next to wind. Legend pulled them upright and pulled off their rabbit shaped hood.
“What in the lying goddesses name was that?” The purple bunny figure yelled. “And where in the split timelines are we?”
“Teleportation. And you’re at Time and Malons ranch, Ravio.” Legend said gently.
Malon glanced at Wind. The teens eyes lit up and he grabbed for the slate he had dropped. Warriors grabbed it first.
“Give it back, Wars. I wanna scare the crap out of Linkle.” Wind said.
“After we figure out what’s going on. Then we can scare my sister.” Wars told him.
Wild was examine a circle with runes that had appeared on the ground. “This is the same as my era.”
“What’s going on here?” Time said jogging up to them. “Hi Ravio. How did you get here?”
“WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?” Legend screeched.
“Out in the fields with Talon.”
“And you didn’t hear the screaming?” Green asked.
“I thought Sky and Wild were chasing you guys with the cuccos again. But what’s going on here?”
Warriors handed him Winds slate. “We all have one. “
“How did this happen?” Time wondered, absently lifting it above his head when wind tried taking it from his hand.
“That would be my doing.” A voice said behind them.
Everyone turned to look at who had spoken. standing there was the goddess herself, Hylia.
Chapter 5: Chapter 5
Summary:
An explanation of sorts.
Notes:
So I have decided I don’t want to go into the events of tears of the kingdom, so I am changing wilds arm a bit. He still has a prosthetic but he lost it in a fight with dink and the chain went to purah who made him his prosthetic. There is no runes on the arm. I mig HR go into it in a flashback or one shot but I wanted to give you guys a heads up.
Also I am sorry if I get any layout wrong. I have not played ocarina of time before.
So without further ado here you go!!
Also I decided to make this the last chapter of this part. But it is now a series!
There will be one work going over the things that happened before this story such as Wild losing his arm, the tattoos and other things.
And there will be a work about what happens after this story.
Requests for both are open. If there is anything I haven’t explained feel free to let me know and I’ll do a chapter in one of the books on it.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
“How did this happen?” Time wondered, absently lifting the slate above his head when wind tried taking it from his hand.
“That would be my doing.” A voice said behind them.
Everyone turned to look at who had spoken. standing there was the goddess herself, Hylia.
All the boys (Ravio included) jumped on top of Time and Legend, effectively trapping the two of them on the ground. Malon went inside, mumbling something about the kitchen.
“Why are you jumping on us?” Legend asked.
Eleven disbelieving stares were sent his way.
“So we can figure out what’s goin’ on without y’all chasin’ off our only source of information.” Twilight said.
“Fair enough.”
At that moment, Malon came out of the house. Walking up to Hylia, she tapped the goddesses chest with the frying pan she had grabbed and declared, “If you make one wrong move, towards anyone, I will cave in your skull.”
“You don’t trust me?” Hylia asked.
“Not after what I’ve learned through these boys. Now everyone come inside and sit down so we can have this talk.”
With that everyone went into the living room and settled down on the various furniture. Four merged together again and sat on one of the armchairs. Ravio pulled Legend down to sit on top of him, wrapping his arms securely around his husband. Malon sat on Time. Everyone else scattered around the couch, ready to get up at a moments notice. Twilight shifted back to Wolf form and laid his head on wilds lap.
Hylia sat down gracefully across from them in an armchair.
“To get started, yes I changed your bags into the slates, set up the travel points, and No they are not traps to send you back to your own eras.” She said, giving Legend a look. Legend crossed his arms and glared back at her.
Wind raised his hand. “How do they work?”
“The sheikah technology? I think Purah or Robbie would be better at explaining.”
“No. I mean how do they take us through time? Without breaking the timeline?” Wind clarified.
“Well the legends that are told about all of you never say what happens after your adventures, for the most part. I’ll admit I had a hand in that. So there is quite a bit of wiggle room when it comes to time travel with you boys.”
“So what I’m hearing, is that we can waltz through time without any repercussions?” Legend asked.
“For the most part, yes.” Hylia answered. “Inside certain points, for instance you can teleport to specific points in the timeline but you can’t go outside of them. Days, weeks, and months will stay the same. You’ll basically just be going through years.“
When her explanation was met with puzzled looks from everyone but Time, she sighed and tried again.
“For instance if you traveled to the Hero of Skies era from the Hero of Legends era on the summer solstice it would be the same day but thousands of years apart. Is that easier to understand?”
Her question was met with quite a few nods this time around.
Hyrule shyly raised his hand and whispered, “Can we live in other eras?”
“If that’s what you choose.” Hylia brushed off her skirt and stood up. “Unfortunately our time has come to an end. Goodbye, my heroes. Malon.”
Hylia bowed her head and vanished in a glimmer of light.
Time stood up. “I think we all need some time to think about this. I suggest we take a few hours and talk about it over dinner. Unless you want to discuss it now?”
There were several nods and many stood up and took steps towards the door.
“I just wanna say one thing before y’all go.” Malon began, “all of you are welcome here, no matter what time, no matter how long ya need a place to crash, our home is open to ya.”
The boys nodded their thanks and went outside.
That day the lives of many people changed for the better.
Notes:
So the slates work by bringing them to certain places in each era. So the chain can toggle through maps which pull up the different Hyrules and pick specific places.
For instance twilight can pull out his slate, toggle through different maps and select times era. He can then decide to go to, the temple of time, the gorons, the Zora, the castle, or the ranch.
Pretty much all major locations have a teleportation thingy ma bob.
