Rain was looking around curiously. He never went to the underground race before. Of course, he knew his dad was organising them, but he didn’t see the appeal. He wasn't a fan of bikes or racing. His dad and older brother loved it and that was one of the reasons the races happened in the first place.
"Sky please don’t wander off from me, we are new here so the guards can stop us at some point.”
Sky looked uncomfortable and he came even closer to Rain.
"Fine, but how were you able to get the invitation to the illegal race? It’s not easy to get into that kind of event.”
Rain grimaced. He didn’t really want to share the truth with his friend. No one knew about his background and Rain wanted it to stay that way. That was the reason he changed his last name and lived with his mom for the first time in his life. He wanted to be an ordinary student for as long as he could. So he just shrugged and decided to worry about how to explain it later.
"I’ll tell you tomorrow. Let’s look around for now. We need to find P’Phayu, that's why we are here.”
He had to say he was impressed by how well all of that looked. He could feel the excitement in the air. He saw how people loved the atmosphere.
When he told his dad he wanted to meet with someone who frequented the races, his father wasn’t convinced it was a good idea to let him come. But Rain pleaded for a long time and his dad wasn't immune to his charms, so he allowed Rain to attend the event if he swore, he wouldn't make any trouble there. Rain didn't admit that he wanted to annoy one of the mechanics, he wasn't that stupid. His dad would be furious if he knew. And he really hoped his papa would stay in the dark about his presence here. He could be so overprotective.
He wanted to remain anonymous so instead of his family name, his new name got added to the invitation list, he didn't want to expose himself if he could evade it.
Rain knew he would need to do what he wanted to avoid doing, but his need to get revenge on the senior was too strong. So he planned to maybe scare him a little and reveal his identity. He was sure Phayu would not be happy that he messed up with Khun Pakin's son. Rain didn't want to ruin his career though, he just wanted to make an impression on the man and shock him.
The guards got informed one of the younger sons from the main family was there, even if they didn't know his face. So it would be enough to show his ring to them to get out of any potential problems. He normally avoided wearing it on his finger, but he made an exception for tonight, for both the security and P'Phayu. He was sure the senior knew the jewellery the Theerapanyakul family always wore. For now, he was hiding it under the long sleeve of his shirt.
Rain got lost in his thoughts for too long. He and Sky went through a more crowded space and of course, Rain lost sight of his friend. He got distracted for a minute and they got separated.
"Well, shit. I need to find him." Rain panicked a bit.
He started to look around frantically and he speed up. Rain wasn't worried about himself but Sky didn't have an invitation, he got in because he was with Rain. He could get him out of any trouble later but why allow for it to happen, right? It was better to stay close but he got too caught up in his plans and let the crowd get between them.
And his nervous behaviour naturally interested the security guards around him. He didn't have time for that, he needed to find Sky first! So he started to dodge the people faster, still looking around for the sight of Sky.
And right when he thought he saw his friend, he collided hard with someone's chest. He startled, raised his head and looked right at the furious reason he was here at all.
At that moment the guards finally caught up to him but before he could introduce himself, Phayu said:
"It's okay. He is with me."
One of the guards nodded and answered:
“He looked unfamiliar and he was acting a little suspicious, so we tried to stop him to question him.”
“I am sorry for the trouble,” said Phayu.
The guards looked at each other.
“We have to report it to the boss”.
“I will talk to him myself.”
“Okay. But give us a heads-up next time. It wouldn't be such a problem if we had known, Khun Phayu.”
"I am sorry. I will." Phayu bowed and the men left them alone.
P'Phayu still held him forcibly. Rain was a bit flabbergasted. He didn't get to explain anything. And his plan was now ruined. If he really was an intruder it could have ended very badly. His family took safety measures incredibly seriously. While P'Phayu talked to his brother and some other man, Rain wondered if he should tell the senior the truth about himself now. He wasn't in any danger here, no one would mess with him if they knew who he was. He decided to come clean even though the "scare the senior" part was not happening anymore, but before he could open his mouth, the man dragged him to his car and hissed through clenched teeth:
"I don't want to hear a word from you until we get to my home."
His glare was so powerful, Rain decided to stay quiet and wait. But then he remembered - Sky!
"My friend stayed there! I was looking for him when you caught me. I need to go back, please take me back." Rain begged frantically. Sky could get into real trouble if he wasn't with him.
P"Phayu took out his phone and called someone.
"Pai, could you look... okay. Yes, I was going to ask you about him. Could you take him out of the race? Thanks."
Rain looked at the senior.
"Your friend is safe. He was found by my friend."
Rain sighed in relief. But with that problem out of the way, he started to get nervous again. P'Phayu still looked furious and so frightening. Rain decided to stay quiet and wait to see how things will unfold.
When they got to the senior's house, Rain obediently followed the man inside. He understood why Phayu was so mad. That could've been so dangerous if Rain wasn't who he was. He decided to confess the truth and clear up the misunderstanding.
"P"Phayu, I'm..."
He didn't get to say anything more. The senior abruptly pulled him over his lap and started to spank him. Rain was so shocked it took him a moment to react. He flushed red in humiliation and started to struggle until the man let him go.
They stood facing each other when P'Phayu asked in a low, threatening voice:
“Do you know what you did?”
Rain head was swimming. Everything was so confusing and unexpected.
"I...". He stuttered and stopped.
"Do you have any idea what would have happened if I hadn't been there?"
Rain's brain was frozen. What should he say to that? He stammered out:
"I am sorry."
"I don't need your apology. I asked if you know what would have happened. Answer me."
P'Phayu was as formidable as his parents when Rain really fucked up. His mind was blank, he shuddered in fear and stayed silent.
“Do you want to destroy your future?”
Rain had trouble looking at the senior.
"If you thought for a bit you would figure out that the man that organizes the race is a powerful figure. Do you think it is easy to block a highway road? Why do you think the police won't show up? For people like him, it isn't difficult to make one stupid boy disappear!"
Rain knew he wasn't there uninvited, but the whole conversation made him so shaken, he felt tears gather in his eyes. His throat clenched so badly that he couldn't say anything to defend himself. And what P’Phayu said was true. His father was sweet, easygoing and funny. But that was how he acted around the family. Out there, he was a mighty mafia ruler who wouldn't hesitate to do what was necessary.
"Do you even realise the consequences of your actions? I thought you were more mature. Crying for your parent's help wouldn't have helped you. Sometimes an apology isn't enough. It's time for you to grow up.” P'Phayu shouted at him.
Rain finally snapped out of his stupor because calling for his parents in this situation would actually help him. He whispered:
"I didn't want to get into any trouble, I just wanted to get back at you."
And now, didn't it actually sound so stupid? Why did he decide the race was a good place to mess with his dad's prized mechanic? P'Phayu voiced his thoughts.
"Stupid! Go home boy."
Rain knew he was an impulsive airhead. His upbringing made sure he wasn't always great at mundane social interactions and taking a risk meant something else to him than it did to everyone else. But it still hurt to be called dumb. It also made him mad.
"Stupid, stupid, stupid! You keep calling me that. And fine, I am brainless, I am a child."
Then Rain suddenly pulled P'Phayu harshly towards himself and kissed him aggressively. The kiss was so hard it drew blood on the man's lips. Rain declared confidently:
"But just wait and see. This stupid boy will make you fall in love. And you won't ever call me that again."
He was determined now. He will make P'Phayu fall in love with this stupid boy. That would mean that the senior was dumb too, right?
The man looked at him with an odd expression on his face and then kissed him passionately. Rain just blinked dazedly. He wasn't expecting that he would be kissed back. And he had to admit, that was a great kiss.
"Then I'll wait and see. You better be able to do what you said." P'Phayu looked very serious and still a bit scary.
Then he turned around and left him alone in the room. And that was the moment Rain realized what he actually did. How did he come from intimidating the man to trying to make him fall in love with him?
And that was the first time he didn't tell P'Phayu about his parents.
