Work Text:

Kyle tapped his fingers against his desk unenthusiastically. It was his birthday, yet he was stuck doing a stupid essay for a class he was taking for extra credit. No ideas came to mind as he tried to think of a topic. It wasn’t that he didn’t know the material either; he just couldn’t make himself care that much about his report.

Kyle slammed his head down on his keyboard with a groan. This was hopeless. The report wasn’t due for two weeks, yet his stupid mind wanted to do it the day it was assigned. Kyle hated that about himself and wholeheartedly blamed his mother for that mindset. Kyle’s mood was even worse since his boyfriend had class early in the morning, unable to see him. Though Kyle was thankful for the breakfast, he found in the microwave and the birthday text he received from said boyfriend.

“Okay, maybe a break will help me.” The redhead spoke as he pushed his head up from his desk. Kyle trailed from the bedroom to his empty living room and huffed. He was bored. “What to do, what to do? Well, I could make lunch or take a walk. Maybe I could catch up on that show I was watching? Oh! I could get off, but I want sex.” the redhead groaned in frustration as he flopped down on the couch,

Kyle just wanted to be with Stan. They’d be cuddled up on the couch, maybe watching a movie. No matter what they were doing, Stan would be showering him with love, and though it seemed selfish, that’s all Kyle wanted right now.

Speaking of Stan, where is he?

“He should’ve been here nearly 30 minutes ago…”

Kyle took his phone out of his pocket. No new messages. Kyle let out another groan, pressing his hands to his face. This was hopeless; maybe he should just go back to his computer. Kyle adjusted in his spot and ran his hands through his hair. Just as Kyle was about to move to stand on his feet, the doorknob jiggled.

Stan walked through the door, carrying a bag in his hands. A large smile covered his face as Stan set the bag down and ran to Kyle. The older through his arms around his boyfriend and smiled as he kissed his cheeks.

“Happy birthday, baby!” Stan mumbled between kisses as he pulled Kyle closer. When he finally pulled away, he saw Kyle giving him a sad smile and frowned. “Hey, baby. What’s wrong? It’s your birthday; smile!” Stan said, cupping his boyfriend's cheek.

Kyle simply leaned into the touch as he wrapped his long limbs around his lover. Stan pressed a much softer kiss to Kyle’s lips and pulled him closer, both of them cuddled on the couch.

“I’m just not feeling it today. I have this paper to write and shit. I just wanna be with you for the rest of the day, maybe a little date? Can we do that?” Kyle mumbled into Stan’s neck. Stan chuckled and traced imaginary shapes onto Kyle’s back.

“Actually, I was hoping you said that. I wanted it to be just us today. I know the guys wanna go out on Saturday, and we’re gonna drive to see our parents next weekend. Maybe we can go to that boba shop down the street.”

Kyle hummed as he closed his eyes, leaning further into his boyfriend as he thought it over.

“That sounds nice.”

Now walking down the street of California, Kyle looked at Stan with a smile. Despite the raven-haired male constantly trying to steal a sip of the redhead’s drink, the date was perfect.

“Tell me what you got again so I can get it when we come here again.” Stan hummed, swinging their hands back and forth gently.

“Passion fruit flavored jasmine green tea with strawberry boba, 50% ice.”

Stan nodded as he pulled Kyle closer to him. A shop suddenly came into view, and Stan pointed. “You wanna go in there?”

The store in question was an old place where you could paint little mugs and bowls. Kyle’s smile widened. Stan knew how much he loved to paint, but with all this shit constantly hammering on him from school and the small size of their apartment, he neither had the space nor time. Kyle looked at his boyfriend and wondered for a moment if this was all planned. But when Stan pulled out his phone to see how much it cost to paint something at the little place, he knew it wasn’t.

“Yeah, let’s do it.” Kyle smiled as he gripped Stan’s hand tightly and pulled him along. Stan held his hand, following behind him happily.

The duo made their way into the shop, an older lady sitting behind the counter. She greeted them kindly, showing them where they could pick whatever bisque-fired piece they wanted to fire. Kyle had a smile on his face as he picked up a mug, looking at it in amazement.

Stan smiled as he watched Kyle, his smile now such a big contrast to how he looked when Stan came home. Stan pointed to some mugs that looked relatively similar. They ended up picking the matching cups.

Aprons sat on the hooks against the wall. Kyle laughed as Stan struggled to tie his, whining for Kyle to help him as he spun, trying to grab the other string. Eventually, Stan did get his apron on correctly and stuck his tongue out at Kyle as the redhead did so easily.

Soon their childish banter calmed down as they began to paint their mugs with glaze. Stan tried his best to focus on the mug in front of him, but Kyle painted with such intrigue that it was hard. His boyfriend was so beautiful that it was distracting.

“Hey, you’re mugs over there, baby.” Kyle snickered, and the raven-hair man flushed.

“I’m just trying to figure out what your painting.”

“Liar! And even if you were telling the truth, I’m not telling you.”

Stan playfully rolled his eyes at Kyle and began to actually focus on his mug.

By the time they finished, it was 5pm, and Stan was hungry.

“Where do you wanna eat? We could go to that sandwich shop across the street, oh! Or we could go to Red Robin!”

“Stan, no. That place is, like, hella expensive.”

“Yeah, but you like it! I have some money saved; please, hun, let’s do it.” Stan said as he cupped Kyle’s cheek.

The redhead blushed and grabbed Stan, effectively pushing it away as he began walking toward the restaurant. “Come on, you idiot!” he exclaimed, continuing with his angry frown.

Stan laughed, following close behind. The blue-eyed male kissed his lover's cheek as he finally caught up beside him. Kyle gave Stan a small smile as he interlocked their hands once again.

Kyle flopped down onto their shared bed, exhausted and filled with food. Stan laid next to him, wrapping his arms around Kyle and kissing his forehead. Kyle groaned into Stan, burying his face deeper into Stan’s shoulder.

“Anything else you wanna do for your birthday?”

“I was going to ask you to fuck me, but I’m good. I’m so tired from going around the town today. Give me late birthday sex tomorrow.” Kyle yawned while Stan laughed silently, gently stroking his hair.

“I’m sorry you didn’t get a cake or anything.”

“I couldn’t have eaten a lot of it anyways. Don’t be upset; diabetes is an ass.”

“Still, I wanna do one more thing for you.”

“Stan, I swear to fuck; I just wanna sleep.”

“Listen here, tall ass. I’m going to give you one more present for your birthday, so sit up.”

Kyle groaned, slowly pulling himself up from the comfort of his pillow. Stan eagerly hopped off the bed and came back in with the bag he was holding earlier. Kyle perked up a this, leaning back on his hands as he watched.

“Open it, babe!”

Kyle playfully huffed as he opened the bag. It was an assortment of sugar-free treats, gift cards for his favorite clothing store, a bracelet, and a book he’s been wanting for months. Sentimental tears filled his eyes as Kyle slipped on the bracelet and hugged Stan tightly.

“Thank you so much! I love you!” Kyle mumbled, pressing kisses to Stan’s cheeks and lips. Stan kissed back, rubbing circles onto Kyle's hips. The redhead hummed, deepening the kiss, a soft whine leaving his mouth.

“Stan…”

“Yeah, baby?”

Kyle shivered as Stan’s breath hit his lips, his lower stomach filling with heat.

“I don’t think I can wait until tomorrow for you.”

“I thought so,” Stan smirked against his lips as he moved Kyle below him.

Finally done with this exhausting but fantastic day. Kyle was completely satisfied as he and Stan cuddled. Kyle turned his direction towards the window; just below was a small desk that held his laptop. The redhead remembered how awful his day had been earlier and smiled as he looked at the bracelet still adorned on his arm.

“Stanley,”

“What’s up?”

“Thank you for making this one of the best birthdays ever. I love you so much.”

“I love you too, Kyle.”
