Dipper shivered as he pulled Pacifica's duvet up to his neck. Curling up as small as he could to try and warm himself up.
'This is just typical' He thought to himself.
His planned trip back to Gravity Falls to spend a few weeks with his girlfriend had already gotten off to an awful start. He was a day late arriving as his bus was cancelled and two days in he fell ill with what Pacifica could only be described as the worst flu she had ever seen.
Pacifica sat next to him, one hand playing with his hair. Dipper allowed himself a small smile before the familiar feeling of the contents of his stomach about to evacuate.
He lunged forward so his head was hanging off the edge of the bed and began to cough.
"No! No! Don't throw up on that!" Pacifica yelled. To no avail as Dipper vomited… all over the dress that was thrown down the side of her bed.
"Dipper!" Pacifica whined "that dress cost $3500"
He tried to apologise but could only spit up more of whatever was in his stomach.
"It doesn't matter," she reassured him.
"Do you want me to get you some water? And a bowl?" She asked.
"N-no.. I can get them" He shuddered.
"You sure?" She asked disbelief in her voice.
"Yeah" he repeated as he struggled to his feet, being careful not to tread in the pile of sick on the floor.
"I'll clean that up in a minute"
Dipper swayed before falling back to sitting on the bed.
"I'll get your water" Pacifica told him.
"No. I can do it. I can walk to the kitchen" He argued.
"You wanna walk by yourself? Okay. Let's see you do it then" She challenged.
Dipper took a moment to stop his head from spinning. He pushed himself up slowly from the bed but his legs gave out immediately.
"Thought so"
Pacifica helped to lay him back down. Wiping the sweat from his forehead before disappearing to get Dipper his water. By the time she returned Dipper was asleep again, snoring quietly. She placed the glass of water on the bedside table and turned her attention to cleaning the sick up from the floor.
Dipper woke up a few hours later. Shivering. He looked around and found himself all alone. Sipping the water that was left for him, he sat up so his back was resting against the headboard. He heard the bedroom door creak open slightly before Pacifica came in carrying a tray. Smiling when she saw him awake.
"I brought you something to eat" She told him.
"Did you cook it?" Dipper asked in a teasing manner.
"Fine, if you're gonna complain about it… I'll just throw it away" She threatened playfully. Dipper would have called her bluff if his stomach didn't rumble as loudly as it did.
"That's what I thought" She grinned. Walking over to the bed and laying the tray down on his lap.
"Its nothing fancy" She told him.
"it's only soup with some dry toast"
"It looks great" Dipper replied gratefully. He picked up the spoon and tried the soup.
"Careful. Its hot" She warned him
"I've only got the flu. I've not regressed to a child" Dipper rolled his eyes.
"You are an absolute baby when you're sick"
Dipper scoffed and went back to eating his soup.
"Well?" Pacifica asked.
"Well, what?" Dipper replied.
"How is it?"
"Its… good, like really good" Dipper answered.
"Really? You mean it?"
"Yeah? Why?"
"Cause I made it myself"
"Really? Why?"
"I dunno? Cause you're not well and soup helps" She explained.
"You didn't have to do that"
"I wanted to" She shrugged
"Thank you" He replied gratefully.
"How are you feeling now?" She asked.
"Like absolute shit" He answered.
"Snuggles help with lots of things, so come here" Pacifica ordered, spreading her arms out.
"Snuggles?" Dipper raised an eyebrow. Pacifica's cheeks reddened.
"Shut up" She ordered
"Are you coming here or not?" She asked. He nodded and shifted around so Pacifica could cuddle him. Resting his head on her chest.
"Better?"
"Uh huh"
"I'm sorry" Dipper apologised.
"Sorry for what?"
"Sorry for ruining our time together"
"Don't be silly, you haven't ruined anything" She soothed… Dipper tried to argue but Pacifica cut him off before he could start.
"No… Mason Pines, if you don't stop being stubborn I'll get Mabel to come and sort you out" She warned him, half seriously.
"Okay I won't say anything" Dipper grinned. The threat of his sister enough of a deterrent.
"Good boy" She smiled. She ran a hand through his hair.
Dipper smiled as she pressed her lips to his head and whispered that she loved him.
