Summary
Joining the Bats on missions seemed like a good idea - they had more resources than Jason, and it was nice to have people to watch his back sometimes. In theory, teaming up with them is a solid move.

There weren’t many he let see this side of him. The side that actually cared. Children, mostly, were the ones he let down his guard for—to let them know it would be okay, they were safe with him, he was there to help. It was rare someone closer to his age got under his skin enough to drag out this quiet, simple, genuine side of him.

Summary
Jason’s jaw dropped. The tiny human child toddled in front of him, gripping at his pant legs. Automatically, he bent his knees slightly. The child lost its grip, and fell flat onto its ass.
They both froze. The child’s mouth opened and closed soundlessly.
“No no no, don’t cry,” Jason rushed out. He leaned down and scooped the child into his arms. “Don’t cry, okay?”
The child grabbed onto his shoulder as Jason settled it (him?) onto his upper hip. Big, blue eyes blinked up at him, shining with unshed tears.
