Chapter Text
Marinette needed to get out of Paris, at this point it was just too risky. Lila finally had her way with the class, Adrien’s father demanded he do whatever was necessary to keep the liar happy, and with the support of Paris’ golden boy everyone else short of Chloe was wrapped around her finger. She applied for a scholarship for one of the most prestigious schools in America, Gotham Academy.
“I can't believe you’re leaving me!” Chloe would not stop proclaiming that her best friend was betraying her for a bunch of “lazy Americans”
“You’re just jealous I’m getting away from Lie-la” Marinette teased.
“Unlike you, some people will not abandon Adrikins” Chloe shot back.
Marinette tensed, she still felt guilty for leaving Adrien, he already has so little emotional support and she was afraid her leaving would lead to one of her closest friends getting akumatized.
“I was only teasing, we’ll be okay without you, we have to be” Despite how it seemed Chloe was the one pushing the hardest for Marinette to get out of Paris “Besides it's not like you're gone forever, thank Kwami for Hawkmoth” Chloe laughed bitterly
“Chloe!” Marinette scolded Chloe didn’t need to hear anything else Marinette knew that she knew she had gone a little too far. The two continued to pack the bluenette’s room making converation about how much they would miss eachother.
“I’m done packing for today!” Marinette exclaimed before throwing herself onto the pink chaise and patting the spot next to her Chloe plopped down and melted into Marinette’s embrace. She opened her laptop which was no longer adorned with a background full of Adrien’s face. The two Parisian girls settled into the couch while the intro to legally blonde played, unsurprisingly Chloe’s favorite movie.
Marinette stood in the mirror, today was her last day at Francis Dupont she had to break the news today. She had avoided telling her class she was leaving for months, the only two people that knew were Chloe and Adrien.
“DUPAIN-CHENG” Chloe practically burst Marinette’s eardrums “We’re gonna be late for your last day”
Marinette rushed downstairs and kissed her Maman and Papa on the cheek before Chloe practically dragged Marinette out of the Boulangerie.
“Good Morning Class” Miss Bustier called, “Our wonderful class president has something she’d like to announce” The teacher was obviously oblivious to the bomb Marinette was about to drop in her classroom.
“Hi everyone! A few of you already know this, but today will be my last here at Francis Dupont” The class erupted with murmurs some were surprised, and others almost hateful.
Lila stood up and started crying hysterically “I knew you never liked me Marinette, but I didn't think you'd abandon your friends because we had a silly disagreement” Marinette felt the glares of her class before one of her two favorite blondes spoke up.
“Dupain-Cheng is NOT abandoning her friends, at least not those of us who didn’t abandon her, and those who did shouldn’t even be considered her friends, BUT Dupain-Cheng is a much better person than me so here we are”
“Thank you, Chloe.” Marinette interrupted before the “Queen Bee” could cause an Akuma
“Marinette will be missed, but for now all we can do is appreciate the time we have with her” Miss Bustier finally decided to take control of her class.
“And how long will that be Marinette?” The red-haired reporter said with an icy tone
“My plane leaves tomorrow at noon, you are all welcome to come to say goodbye, and I promise to keep in touch!” Marinette beamed, she knew only Chloe, and maybe Adrien if his father didn’t whisk him away for a photoshoot last minute would show up but a small part of her still hoped.
