"You all are so brave and deserve lots of rest. I will clean all of your wounds, then straight to bed." Camila said, holding Luz's hand to give her comfort. Camila had not expected to have 5 kids, including her biology one, to show up at her door. She was happy that her mija was back but was very concerned with what everyone had gone through. Hunter looked like an emotionless soldier and gus just seemed like he was trying to look at the positives. Amity was very nervous for some reason. Camila noticed her stuttering and how she clung to Luz's arm sometimes. Willow just seemed tired. She looked as if she just had to watch a bad movie marathon for 8 hours.
Once she had also noticed a couple of very concerning things when cleaning Amity and Hunter's wounds. They both had what seemed to be self-inflicted scars along their arms. Hunter's was closer to the shoulder and Amity's was on her wrist and palm. She would ask Luz about that later and just continued to help everyone.
After Camila forced everyone to eat like the mom she is, she helped set up beds for all the kids. Gus seemed to be distracted which was…okay. Hunter was still acting like a soldier which was weird. He had bowed down to her, making her a tad bit uncomfortable. However, when she was looking through the closet upstairs for sleeping bags, she felt someone tug on her sleeve.
"Mami?"
"Si, Mija?" Camila turned to face her traumatized daughter.
"C-can I sleep wit you tonight?"
"Of course, baby." She gently ruffled Luz's hair.
"Now, go put on some pj's. Oh and get some for Amity too. You have the closest size to hers." Luz smiled and ran off to her bedroom to get ready.
Camila finished getting blankets for the girls and helped them get settled in. She turned off the light and let the kids sleep. Luz came into the master bedroom a little while later with her stuffed animal. Camila didn't mind though. After all she's been through, she can most definitely sleep with the stuffy. Tucking Luz in, Camila went to sleep herself.
Not an hour had passed and Camila woke to someone knocking on the door. She could hear a small voice from behind it
"This isn't a good idea, wills, wet's jus forget it,"
You could barely hear it, but Camila recognized it as Amity's. She got out of bed, being careful not to wake Luz and opened the door. She saw Amity shaking behind Willow. Camila gave a look of confusion.
"Umm, Amity had a nightmare and I can't sleep. Can we sweep with you?" Willow asked, fidgeting with her fingers.
"Uh, sure. I'll see if you guys can fit on the bed. Luz is already here." She let the kids in and led them to the bed. Amity laid down next to Luz and Willow went next to Camila. Amity immensely started cuddling with Luz. She seemed to stop shaking, which was good. But soon, Amity's thumb made its way up to her mouth. She softly sucked on it while her head nuzzled into Luz's neck. Camila thought it was the cutest thing. However, another knock came and Camila had to tetris her way out of bed and opened the door. Hunter stood in the frame. He had bloodshot and puffy eyes with a bit of tears running down his face.
"M-ma'am, I had uhh a nightmare… sniff" He sniffed, his nose plugged from crying.
"It's alright, cariño. Come in, I think there's a bit of room," she led him in and helped him onto the bed. However, he didn't put his head on the pillow. He curled up like a dog at the foot of the bed. His shirt made its way into his mouth. Camila was too tired to say anything and just moved willow to the middle so she could get back in.
She had manage to get back in bed with her newly four children. It hadn't even been 2 hours until gus came to the door. Honestly, Camila should be used to this by now. She opened the door and without even letting gus say anything, she said
"You can sleep in here. It's alright, no one is judging you." She led him into the bedroom. He was relatively small so he could fit on the bed. This was not how Camila expected her night to end. But she made a mental note to ask all the kids what they need for little space. After all that's happening to them, they all deserve to be little. Whether it's 8 years olds or 2, she wouldn't ever judge her children.
